This message must be brief, but my great grandmother Katie Hamrock is listed in Ohio census1880-1910-1920 as born in England, in 1847 but her parents were born in Ireland. She lived in Cincinnati, married a Charles A Smith, and had Charles, Cecelia, Paul Leo(my grandfather), and Genevieve. Have come to believe she was somehow related (maybe sister to) John Hamrock of Dayton,OH More later, just grateful to find someone else whose people took this amazing adventure-leaving eastern europe? alsace lorraine? bavaria? where? and more importatly why? to fight for James II (battle of the Boyne?)and lose to William and choose to stay? or were they left high and dry?-what a story! I imagine my greatgrandmother's parents left Ireland for England in desperation during the famine, and then ended up leaving for Canada or the States. Got to go, but will watch for a response from you. I am still a novice on this quest but would love to share any of the haphazard stuff I've unearthed.
Hope to hear back, K. Helmer
