Thank you for your response. I know little or nothing about Jacob, including his place of origin. All I know is that he boarded a ship in Germany with his wife Marie whose maiden name was Kleurofsky (I am not certain about the spelling.) and daughter Ella, my grandmother. Supposedly Marie's mother's maiden name was Ameiss, but I am not really certain about that either. Your query was a ray of hope. In the 1910 census he listed his place of birth as Germany, but other than that he is shrouded in mystery.
