Jon, I tried to scan the obituary for Rebecca Flick Hamsher, but it didn't scan legibly. I tried to photo copy it with my scanner and that too was a mess. I will need to try with a good quality photo copier. Its over 100 years old, so no surprise its in bad shape. Its also in an old scrapbook, so not easy to remove.

I was checking the material I got from Tim McGrath, and it was material prepared by David Homsher in the 1970's and is very well footnoted. He must have done a whole lot of work on the various Hamsher groups. Some of what I inherited about my family was his work. It seems like he sent copies to many Hamsher families and edited so that it was specific to each line.
That shows Rebecca Jane Hamsher, daughter of John Hamsher, being born on March 14, 1836 in Lurgan twp, Franklin Co. PA. The footnote shows material came from a Kleppinger-Clippinger History, by a Stanley Kleppinger, from 1928. Barnet Hamsher had married a Catherine Clippinger (Kleppinger) and Rebecca Jane was Barnet and Catherine's granddaughter. It shows March 14, 1836 as the date of birth. An 1815 census record for Lurgan twp shows Rebecca J. age 15 (this would make her appear to be born before 1836, as she should have been only 14 for the 1850 census). Tim McGrath descends from that same line.
The material from my line from David Homsher, shows Rebecca, daughter of Bernhard and Rebecca, born about 1836. An 1840 census record for Sparta twp, Livingston Co., NY shows Rebecca, daughter of Bernard age about 4 years. In 1850 the census for Sparta twp, shows Rebecca as age 14. In 1860, Rebecca is shows as age 23. Rebecca is not shown in the 1870 census.
Oh yeah, in the material I have on Rebecca Jane, it shows she married a Levi Kendig, and they had at least once child: Anne Kendig.
I know I have the picture of Aunt Beck scanned into my computer. I think I can find it. Not sure on scanning the article on the Flick clan. I think I did make a copy of it, and it went about 20 or more pages. Oddly, it has little information on Rebecca Flick or her father Martin Flick. I think Martin left Pennsylvania and moved to New York, and served in a New York regiment in the Revolutionary War, and then moved to western New York, where his daughter Rebecca married Bernard Hamsher.
Another oddity, is that Rebecca Jane had a brother Thomas Oliver who ended up in western Illinois (Monmouth) which is a bit west of Pekin, where Rebecca Hamsher Snyder ended up.
I don't have Lavinia Johns in my material, although there are some people with the John surname who appear in the Sparta twp, and Dansville NY area.
Interesting about your record with the date of birth on Rebecca. I was checking my material to see how many Rebecca Hamsher individuals I have. Discounting Rebecca Flick Hamsher who married in there is Rebecca P. daughter of Bernard and Rebecca. Also a Rebecca who is my niece. A Rebecca who is my second cousin's daughter. These descend from Daniel Hamsher. Rebecca Jane descends from Barnet Hamsher, and there is another Rebecca Hamsher who is a granddaughter of Barnet who evidently ended up in the Decatur IL area. At least its not John Hamsher, which is a name that shows up a lot back then.
