Rebecca Hamsher

Hi Jon, There are two different Rebecca Hamsher identities going on. Maybe some of the stuff is mixed. There is a Rebecca Jane Hamsher who is a daughter of John Hamsher, who married a Wunderlich. I got that material I believe from Tim McGrath who is a descendent of Barnet Hamsher of Pennsylvania. That Barnet is the younger son of Adam Hamscher, while the other Rebecca is a descendent of Adam's older son, Daniel Hamsher, who moved to New York state around 1810. Rebecca Jane Hamsher in my material was born on 14 March 1936 in Lurgan Twp. Franklin Co., PA, which is where Barnet ended up. Rebecca P. Hamsher (I have no idea what the P. stands for) is the daughter of Daniel's son, Bernard, and was born in Sparta Township, Livingston Co., NY.
Sometimes in the old material I will see the same name and it gets confusing. Several Daniels, Barnets, Adams, etc showing up. In our branch, I didn't have a lot on Rebecca, other than an old photo of "Aunt Beck", and the scrawled notes indicated she married a Snyder, and it was thought she went to Florida, and died before her mother did. I've seen the gravestones for Bernard and his wife, Rebecca Flick Hamsher, and their youngest daughter Mary is also there. Also I have newspaper obituaries of Rebecca Flick Hamsher (daughter Rebecca died before her mother did), and older children Caroline, Susannah, and Jonas. I've also seen their gravestones. Not as much is known about the other son, Martin, or this Rebecca. I found out from David Carpenter, who is a descendent of one of Daniel Hamsher's other sons, about Rebecca marrying Thomas Snyder and dying in Pekin IL. She doesn't seem to be buried in one of the local plots around Sparta Township or nearby Dansville NY.
Bernard Hamsher, son of Daniel Hamsher, son of Adam Hamscher, was from Northampton County. I have a copy of his baptismal certificate on my desk at work. He was born in 1794. Its in German. I have many of the CD's from the Familytree Maker series, and one has birth records for southeastern PA, and Bernard is shown there. His wife Rebecca Flick descends from a Flick that there was a very long article about in a Pennsylvania CD.
I couldn't tell you Rebecca P. Hamsher's date of birth, other than 1836 shows up. I doubt she was born the exact date that Rebecca Jane Hamsher was born though. I also don't have information on her marriage or a child being born.
