Virginia, I have my direct line of Hanagriff back to Matthieu who was in LA before 1848. He married Virginia Bonite Watkins in Houma and had a son John by 1850, when he appeared on the census. The Hebert book have been a great help. Thru John who was a Confederate soldier I have qualified for the United Daughters of the Confederacy. I also have the Watkins family back to William Watkins and his wife Elizabeth (Betsy) Baker who were married at the Forts of the Elkhorn Church in KY and were in LA in the early 1800s.
