I have just begun searching for my Hancocks from Mississippi, as well. My great-grandmother told me about my great-great-great-grandfather, Bedford Hancock, who had a Dutch accent and lived in Union County, Mississippi. Any information on your set would be welcome!

William Hancock son of Isom and Mary hancock
married Tempa Dean. Her fathers name was Bedford and her mother Lydia. William and Tempa Dean were married Feb 10, 1861 in Marahall County Mississippi. Do you think this is the connection?

This is my Bedford, I believe! My grandmother, who lives in Marshall County Mississippi, where I was born, said her father, Sanford Audrey Hancock, Jr., also had cousins who were of the Isom Hancock family...possibly an Isom Jr? Do you know of any Dutch heritage? My great-grandmother Hancock (Margaret Modine Reaves Hancock) said she remembered tales about one of the Hancock grandfathers who had a thick "Dutch" (maybe something else, though) accent.

My Hancock family line was in Sevier Co. in TN. Believe that they came from South Carolina. Can't get beyond the early 1800s, with that branch being Francis Marion Hancock (died in Nashville, TN during Civil War)married to Sarah Jane Tegg or Tigg or Teague (hard to tell from documentation. From him my line goes James Franklin Hancock (m. Margaret E. Smith)to Isaac LaFatt Hancock to George Isaac Hancock to James Oliver Hancock to Judy Ann Hancock Buhl (my mother). Any connections for you? My mother has all pertinent dates, etc. for what we know.

I think I may have left out part of my line in all those names (as I said my mother knows it all better than I). I think there is a Lewis Francis in there somewhere. My mom's e-mail is SDJABUHL@aol.com if you want to contact her and get it all straight.

All his children born MO.
