Mrs. Etienne - I recently came across a 2006 posting of yours concerning the Eber Greene Haning family of Sidney, Iowa, having several children. Eber was my grandfather, and he had 11 children: 6 males (Frees, Conde, Millard, Martin, Enver, Gary) and 5 females (Vineta, Geneva, Evelyn, Norma, and Edna). My father was Eber Gary, the youngest. He died in 2000. The last remaining child is Edna, age 91, who lives in the Chicago area. Conde B., Jr.,late of Green Bay, Wisc., was known as Skip Haning. He was my first cousin. FYI. Bob Haning, Grandview, MO

Jake, after posting the prior message, I went searching through some information that I had not put into my family files yet and found what I think you are looking for.

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Haning married Peter Wittrig and Marie (probably Mary) married Elmer Smith.

Contact me by email for more info. jas4141@aol.com

We'll be leaving this afternoon for Illinois to visit my Mother and other relatives so it may be a bit before I can get back to you. I will carry this info with me in case we make contact. Sorry I didn't give you the right info to begin with but the Haning family doesn't respond much to searching their roots and I'd forgotten about some places I had data.

Look forward to hearing from you and thanks for contacting me.

I am not a descedent of John Christian Haning, but I am a descendent of the sister to his wife, Maria Eva Graff.

Maria Eva Graff had a sister Katherina Graff, who married Valentine Myers and lived in Minier, IL all their lives. They were my 3rd great-grandparents.

I am trying to research the descendents of the Graff family and I can't seem to find any information on whom either Elizabeth (b. 1866) or Mary Haning (b. 1878) married. And in turn I can't find them after 1880. I was wondering if you might know who they married.

Thank you
Jake

Looking for any information on the family of Henry Haning and Sarah Jane Parker. Henry was the son of Aaron Haning Sr. and he and Sarah Jane lived in either Grayson or Collin Co. Texas (possibly both at different times). Two of my most difficult lines are Parker (my great grandmother Harriet Parker was Sarah Jane's sister) and Massey. Harriet married Harrison Massey who in the 1860 census of Grayson County was living with Henry Haning's brother, John. I am trying to learn more about the Hanings hoping the information will lead to a breakthrough in my brick wall lines.

Thanks for any help.
Betty

I have an indirect connection to this family. My Great Grandfather, Milo Roswell Barber married Carolyn Gates Haning some time after 1900. The two people lived about 2 blocks apart on N 4th and N 6th in Ponca City, Cross addition and were both widow/widower about the same timw. The correct date of E. W. Hanings death is Aug 29, 1899. He died in Crow, Oklahoma but is buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Ponca City, Oklahoma, Block 11, lot 78,Space 1. Milo R Barber died in 1917 and is buried next to his first wife, Mary Ann Swalley Barber, about 40 feet away. Carolyn died August 11, 1933 and is buried next to E.W. Haning. .There is a 4 inch curb around their two graves but it is sunk deep and has a lot of dirt and grass over 50% of it. I removed enough grass to read E. W. Haning where it was written in this curb, There are no headstones. It is possible that son Monroe is also buried there. There is enough space for three graves. My mom told be Monroe was buried next to Caroline.
Flora married William Passmore in Arkansas City, KS between February 1, 1879 and March 19, 1879. They are listed as getting a marriage Lisc in that 45 day period.
Clint swalley

I grew up in Hopedale and now live in Mission, TX. I have the genealogy done by Beulah Haning Glenn and Ray Carmichael, published in 1979. There are many missing links since that publication.
It took me awhile to figure out where you got my name. then I found the message I sent to you in May of 2000. Mercy.
The Haning Book was written by James Haning of TX serveral years ago and it starts with Matthew Haning in 1750 and follows the family history as they migrated to Texus. I have a copy of the book and I have found a William and a Eliphas and an Eliphus but so far no William Eliphas. This may mean they just didn't show the middle name or that I have to look more. Write me at dhaning@snowcrest.net and I may be able to help more but there are a lot of people with this name or close to this name need more info.

What is this "Haning book" that everyone keeps refering too? And If someone has this book could they possibly look for the name William Eliphaz (also seen spelled Eliphas) Haning? I have this same name repeating for at least 3 generations, going back to the mid 1800's in the family tree I am researching! One was born in Minnesota (b.10-17-1923 d.4-21-1975) , and his father was born (possibly) in Kentucky (b.6-24-1888 d.1-27-1955?), the next generation back however is a mystery to me except for that same name: William Eliphaz Haning!

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
The Hanning line in our family is actually my husband's line.

My mother-in-law was Leona Fay Hanning before her marriage.

Her father was Oscar Lee Hanning, born in Ripley WV, and her mother was Eva Kelzenberg.

Her grandfather was Robert Hanning and her grandmother was Amanda Belle Wilson, botn in Union Furnace, OH.

We believer that this Hanning line may have moved to WV from Kentucky, and then on to Ohio.

If this rings a bell, or if you think there may be some connection, no matter how slim, I would like to hear from you.

I would also like to hear from any of the Hanning connection who still live in Jackson Co., WV, particularly in Ripley. I would like to learn the burial sites of variojus relatived.

Oscar Lee Hanning was botn March 6, 1900 in Ripley, WV. His father was Robert Hanning and his mother was Amanda Belle Wilson, of Union Furnace, OH.

I am guessing that Robert Hanning was bork approximately in 1870, possibly in Jackson Co. It is also possible that his family was from KY.

Would like to hear from any Hannings, particularly those from Jackson Co., WV and beyond.

I am looking for any information on my greatgrandfather and his family. I have recently found that my greatgrandfather, Albert Alva Hanning Sr., was from Ohio. I know that he moved to Alabama and married Ethel Mae Wright from Jackson Co., Al.
Any information would be helpful.

The reason I have it as Haning/Hanning is that I was told as a child that my grandmothers maiden name was Hanning. Her brother found that the name was spelt Haning when he got a copy of his birth certificate.

Thank you.

Katy, sorry to say but we don't have our Haning (Hannig) family history earlier than Johannes (possibly went by William, may have been his middle name) Hannig from Munzesheim, Germany who emigrated to North America around 1851-52.

Johannes brought several children with him and his second Eva Elizabeth Remmele Lopelirt (m. Nov. 29, 1840). His four oldest children were by his first wife, Margaret Barbara Horrle (d. July 28, 1840): Johann Cristian b. Nov 1831 (my family line), Johann Conrad 1832, Johannes 1836, Margareta Christine 1838. Children of his second wife were Juliana 1842, Christoph 1844, Mathaus 1846, Jacob 1848, Franz Michael 1851 and Elizabeth 1852.

I know this doesn't make your link but possibly with the children's names it will be helpful in researching further.

Archibald or Robert Haning

I am researching my Grandmother's lineage. My Ggrandfather is Archibald Leroy Haning b Mar 22, 1881 in Athens, d Jan. 2, 1963. He married Lizzie Parsons b Mar. 25, 1889, d 7/13/1978. Archibald's father was Robert Ellis Haning, b July 30, 1857, d Mar 27, 1934. He married Myrah May Thompson b Nov. 1, 1859, d Mar. 12, 1883. This information comes from one of Archibald's children who currently lives in Marrietta Ohio. Archibald and Lizzie had 14 children. I do have all of their names, if anyone is interested.

The family moved to Jackson Co. WV sometime after 1908(most likely after 1916) and the children were told that from that time forward their last name would be Hanning. Does anyone know anything about the reason for the spelling change?

I'd love to hear from ANYONE who can shed ANY light on this family. Thanks in advance and have a great day.

Barbara
bearsdenbooks@att.net

Joel Slaughbaugh's wife Catherine Shoemaker, daughter of John Shoemaker from Jerg Shoemaker family, died from injury by hitting tree limb while riding side saddle. She was going to get a dotor from Listenburg, PA for her family, all sick with epidemic of that year. She had to be buried at the fringe to family cemetery known as Shoemaker- Ringer cemetery. The plots have now been relocated to make way for mining project. Her stone was never found.
