We have submitted DNA for dna.ancestry.com as well as familytreedna.com. We have done the YDNA testing thru familytreedna.com as well as autosomal. Biggest problem is I only know that my great grandfather was John Hanlon, born about 1832 in Ireland. John married Catharine Brady in New York, then traveled to Wisconsin & Illinois before settling in Dallas County, Iowa. He had a sister Margaret who married Peter Finnegan. They also traveled to Illinois then settled in Jones County, Iowa.
If any of you have Hanlon connections from Ireland to Iowa, and have done DNA testing, please contact us.
Thank you.

My gg-grandmother's name was Margaret Hanlon (12/19/1875-1954) she was born in Tralee, Kerry, Ireland and came to the US sometime before marrying my gg-grandfather Nicholas Burger in 1898 in Holyoke, MA where they lived the rest of their lives.

From what I could gather Margaret's father was Stephen Hanlon and mother Hanorah Brien (spelling for Hanorah's first and last name varies from Honoria, Norah, Nora, Honorah, and Brine, O'Brien, etc..)

Margaret had a brother Timothy Hanlon Born 26 Feb 1978 in Kerry, Ireland. It is also possible that she had a sister Mary.

I have come to a dead end when it comes to Margaret's parents Stephen and Hanorah any leads on them would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Alex

You might check online newspapers for articles since his death was unusual. They might mention other relatives or other information you could trace. Also his grave site might be on Find A Grave website and that could give you a birth year.

Peter Hanlon

I am trying to find information on my GGrandfather Peter Hanlon. Unfortunately, I have very little information. I believe he was born about 1874 either in Brooklyn NY or Maryland and lived in Brooklyn. He and my maternal GGrandmother, Rebecca Ennis, parented my Grandmother in May 1888. She was named Ellen Frances Hanlon. Rebecca later married a man whose surname was Connelly (possibly David). They had several children. Some of them were named Edward,
David and Joseph.
Michael was a college student and a writer. His ambition was to become a forest ranger, but he died driving to work on a sunny July afternoon which suddenly became a deadly rainstorm near Washington, DC. He was a graduate of the Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, Virginia and attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. If you visit his grave, an excerpt from his last poem is engraved on the back of the stone which is a message for all visitors. The drawing etched on the front of his stone is from a painting he had in his bedroom. He was in the Boy Scout program for 10 years and enjoyed nature.

As I write this, we are approaching his 50th birthday and we think of him often at all of the family activities we have had without him. He has been a guardian angel to his nieces and nephews since he left our world so we know God has special plans for him.

The excerpt: "The fact of my worth was established at birth; At the time I was born to be me."

Yes it is possible, he was my Grand-uncle, Younger brother of my grandfather John O'Hara. Patrick was born in 1918 and died in 1979. His body was at old ballyheigue burial ground with his parents Edmund and Mary (nee Hanlon) and his sister Maria. Their names is on one tombhead.

This is very interesting. The road that my family lives on still have O'Hara's living on it. I am going to have to make a call to Ireland to do some digging. Dreenaugh is not that big of an area - so I do feel we do have a connection here!!
