I am looking for info on William Drayton Hanna. He was married to Roxanne Rebecca Robertson.
He was the son of James Hanna and Mary Susan (Sally) Martin.
He was born 1837 in South Carolina and died in Coosa Co. Al. In 1917.
This is my gggrandfather.
Any help would be wonderful as I have hit a BIG brick wall.

I found many Hanna entries in the Tedavnet Church Records which I've just transcibed in full and burned to CD. They inter-married with Shaw, Elliott, Brown, Ross, Barker, Farrell, Leary, Emerson, Carson, & Dickson familes all from Tedavnet Parish.
Remember the Church at Ballinode, Tedavnet Parish, celebrates 250 years in July 2005 - last week-end in July.

Novel about Hanna's Town, PA

I have recently finished a novel that takes place in Hanna's Town, PA The town was named for Robert Hanna (1738-1786). It was the site of the first court system west of the Allegheny Mountains.

My novel is about my gggg-grandparents, Andrew and Jane Luckey Miller Cruikshank and Charles and Sarah Phillips Foremen and the destruction of Hanna's Town on July 13, 1782.

Delia&Margaret Hanna born in Kansas

I am looking for a Delia and Margaret Hanna that were born in Kansas and were last found in Arkansas.
In 1900 in the Arkansas census, Garland County, Hot Spring Township, they are living along with their mom Alberta,listed as widowed, with their Grandpa and Grandma Evans.
Delia is listed as being born October 1885 and Margaret is listed as being born October 1892. Their father is listed as being born in New York.
This is the last i can find them. The only Hanna that I can find that would fit as being their possible father is a William Hanna who lived with his mother Margaret in all the right places in Kansas. In the 1900 census for Dickinson County, Abilene City, Kansas, I find William born Sept. 1860 New York, listed as widowed, living with his mother Margaret Hanna also born in New York.

In my late Mother in law's family, there was an ancestor who lived in Nova Scotia or Newfoundland who was interred in Red Beech, Maine. Her name was Amelia Boss Hanna, whether the Boss was her surname or her middle name---I do not know for sure.
The only other name I recall from these early settlers in 1800's was William Campbell Hanna. The later family were in Laconia, New Hampshire in early 1900's, then moved to Boston, Mass area. My Mother in law's parents were Miss Armstrong married to Mr. Hanna

Am looking for information on Daniel HANNA (HANNAH) b. 1804 in PA, d. July 1881, buried in Bakersville Lutheran Cemetery in Jefferson Township, Somerset Co. PA. His wife was Susanna ??, b. abt 1801 in PA and d. 1891 in Linn Co. Iowa, buried Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Their children were:
Drucilla (1827-1869) buried in Bakersville Lutheran Cemetery; Alexander; Catharine; David; Joseph; James (my husband's direct ancestor); John; Philip; and Julia (b. abt 1843-1919) buried in Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Daniel and Susanna are listed in the 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 Federal Censuses in Jefferson, Somerset, Pennsylvania. Am looking for information on Daniel Hanna's parentage and on Susanna (what was her maiden name?) and their children.

Anna C. Hanna, 90, of 524 W. Third St., Mount Carmel, passed away Saturday at Saint Catherine Medical Center Fountain Springs.
Born in Centralia on Sept. 10, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Owen and Cecilia (Barnes) McGinley.
Anna was a member of the Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel, the altar and rosary society and the Mount Carmel Senior Action Center.
She attended St. Ignatius Grade School, Centralia.
Anna was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Her favorite times were spent with her family.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Hanna Sr., on Aug. 11, 1986--they were married in St. Ignatius Church, Centralia; her stepmother, Anna Rhoades; brothers, Edward, John and Joseph McGinley; a half-brother, James McGinley, and stepsisters, Marie Collins and Jean Klick.
Surviving are a daughter, Cecilia M. Zielinski and her husband, James, Sugarloaf; a son, Joseph R. Hanna Jr., Mount Carmel; a granddaughter, Joann Zielinski, Philadelphia; a brother, Owen McGinley, Aristes, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel. The Very Rev. Francis Karwacki will be the celebrant.
Interment will take place at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Centralia.
Relatives and friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
and Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at Joseph J. Stutz Inc.
Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 7 p.m.

The 1 p.m. outdoor ceremony was performed by Lock Haven Mayor Rick Vilello in a small grove of trees outside of The Wheel Inn in Roaring Branch.

The couple had clear skies and perfect weather for their wedding day.

The bride wore a diamond white Empire style gown which featured a lace bodice with satin trim and a full princess line skirt with lace mock overskirt and chapel train.

Maid of honor was Hannah Welfling of Pittsburgh, sister of the bride. Bridemaids were Christine Hanna of Jersey Shore and Megan Boyce of Lock Haven.

Best man was Ryan Hanna of Lock Haven, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Duane Koch of Jersey Shore and Jon-Chris Hatalski of Lansdale.

Fathers of the bride and groom ushered. The ringbearer was the couple’s boxer, Benjamin.

Vocalists at the ceremony were Bill Hatalski and Erin Long. The band Big Willy provided music and entertainment during the reception.

The rehearsal dinner, outdoor ceremony and outdoor reception were all held at The Wheel Inn.

After a honeymoon to Dreams Tulum in the Riveria Maya, Mexico, the couple resides on Park Avenue in Woolrich.

The bride and groom are 1998 graduates of Lock Haven High School.

The bride graduated from Penn State University in 2002 and is employed by the Public School Employees’ Retirement System as a regional representative.

The groom is a 2003 graduate of Penn State University and is currently employed by M&T bank in Mill Hall.

Doe anyone have any info or connection to Robert Hanna and Ellonar Mollhalon, both born in Ireland, dwelling in Smithfield, married 27 Feb, 1745, according to the Records of the Reformed Dutch Church and of the Prebyterian Church, Lower Smithfield, pg. 93. The notice is posted Jan 13, 1745 and they were married by Rev. J.C. Fryenmuth.
They are listed as having 2 children, Benjamin 1752 and Robert, 1746....infor from the NYGBSand on line at another personal website.
I am trying to connect them to my Robert Hannah, b. 1788 in Adams Co, m. Hester McCauslin. I want to trace our Hannas back to Irreland and then Scotland. Thanks.

Searching for information on my GGrandmother, Jane Hanna b. 11 March 1871, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Daughter of James Hanna and Ellen Gillan. Married about 1897, at Omaha, Nebraska, USA, to Richard Robinson, son of William Robinson and Jane Mc Mullan, both of Ireland. Jane Hanna Robinson died 1962, Omaha, Nebraska.

Jane Hanna emigrated to USA about 1888, to marry her fiance Richard Robinson, also from Ireland. Later she was joined by 3 of her sisters; Ellen "Nellie", Sarah Ann & Catherine Hanna; and 2 of her brothers, Alex & David Hanna. All lived in Omaha, Nebraska in the area my grandfather, William Alden Robinson, called the "Irish District". All of the sisters and brothers lived and died in Omaha, Nebraska, except for Alex. He did not like living in the United States, and returned home to Ballymoney, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, where he died on 24 September 1940. Any information or contact, would be greatly appreciated.

James and Eleanor lived in the mid 1700s, according to my grandfather, they are my earliest known relatives. They had 4 children: James(died early in life in PA), Hugh(lived in e. OH), William, and Thomas. William married Elizabeth McNeel, and had 5 children: Jane, Thomas, Mary, James, and Sarah. William's brother Thomas married Elizabeth's sister Sarah. They had 4 children: James, Eleanor, William, and Thomas. I am looking for more info on this time period for them and before it. I am looking for the ancestors and descendants of Thomas George Hanna (born Warrenpoint 1868) and Martha Finney who had 7 children at the beginning of the 20th century in Belfast.
Their children were: Acheson born 1898/9, Thomas George born 1900, Albert, Reggie, Mabel, Violet and Daisy.

I’m trying to find a James Hanna-or Hannah from Sligo Southern Ireland, born around 1890 , during the turn of the 20th century, James moved to Wales, with his siblings, I don’t know how many siblings there were, the children were all adopted in Wales, James was adopted into the Phillips family, and he took their name, James married Margaret don’t know when, they had a son Sidney Douglas Phillips, he married Mary Annie Evans 1941 In Carmarthen.

I have all the information from Sidney Douglas Phillips to the present day.

The family have told me they are related to the same Hanna,of Hanna Barbera cartoonist from America.

My Greatgrand Father William James Hanna from Antrim a farmer married Mary Faloon from keady, Armagh Ireland. We believe them to have 9 kids two that came to Canada in the 1920's. One son was William James who went out west for the land grants. He was in Lang. Sask. He was staying with a L.A. Wallace. Then in 1926 my grandfather Abraham also came to Canada and stayed out west with his brother but moved to Toronto Ontario later. When he lived in Antrim he was employed with the Ulster Constabulary Police for 5 years. He also changed his name from Abraham to Albert sometime after arriving in Canada. He married a Sophia Menzies in Toronto in 1928 and had three sons; Albert, John, William all whom still live in Ontario. I am reseaching the ancestry of Jarah and why Jarad (Sr.) turned over his share of an estate in Scotland to Edley Alexander Quackenbush. I have hired researchers in Dumfries, Scotland to help trace back the ancestry of Alex Hanna, father of Jared.

I am hoping to find someone with some knowledge of the family history. There is a fairly complete tree on Ancestry.com. but no indication of who posted it.

Names connected to Jared include: Hannah (Tyler) Hanna, Catherine Hanna, Alex Hanna, Alexander Hanna, Sr., John Hanna, Mary Barnhart, Ann Vair, Jean Reid, Thomas Hanna, John Hanna of Barton, NY (possible step-brother to Alexander Sr.), William Hanna, Jane Robeson, John Hannah of Kingsholm, Dumfrieshire, Scotland.

My research has found some promising leads. I believe it's possible Alexander Hanna Sr. b. 1718 in Dumfries married Ann Vair in 1748 in Dumfries, and who may be the mother of Alexander's son Alex. An Alexander Hannah was on the militia rolls for the 2nd Regiment - Albany County Militia that existed in 1775-1783. There are records placing Alexander Sr. and a married Alex Hanna in the Town of Mohawk, Montgomery Co., NY on the 1790 US Census as well as other Hannas. I believe Alex (Jr.) had a daughter Catherine ca 1792. There is a record of Alex Hannah asking for a land grant in 1799 in Fredericksburg, ON, Canada and who is shown as owning a lot in 1803 on an assessment roll. I do not believe Alex's marriage with Hannah Tyler was a first marriage. The names that come up in documents connect the following surnames: Hanna, Hannah, Hannay, Hay.

In 1938, G. Phil Hanna, a sixty-four-year-old farmer from Epworth, Illinois, with seventy-one hangings to his credit, was called on to conduct the hanging of Anthony Chebatoris in Milan, Michigan. Forty years earlier Hanna launched a personal crusade to make hangings painless after witnessing a botched one that subjected the condemned to a slow, tortuous stangling. Hanna professed, "It is not a nice thing to see a man die - or to have a part in executing him. My point is that if men are to be put to death, it should be done mercifully. I would rather supervise a hanging and have it done correctly than to attend to my farm chores and read that another hanging has been bungled by an inexperienced sheriff." Years earlier, he tested weights and distances to determine the proper distance a man should fall. He also commissioned a Missouri firm to make a special rope. Shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 1938, Anthony Chebatoris arrived at the gallows. He ascended the thirteen steps to the gallows platform ten feet above the ground. He smiled - some said it was a sneer - at Phil Hanna and asked "Are you Mr. Hanna?" "I am" answered Hanna. "Then I know it will be a good job" said Chebatoris. I am not related to this family, just passing on this information I found while researching the 1900 Galveston, Texas hurricane. This census was taken 3 months before the hurricane hit. The link for this information is listed below.

Rank and organization: Corporal, Company H, 2d Minnesota Infantry. Place and date: At Nolensville, Tenn., 15 February 1863. Entered service at: Henderson, Minn. Birth: Lickland County, Ohio. Date of issue: 11 September 1897. Citation: Was one of a detachment of 16 men who heroically defended a wagon train against the attack of 125 cavalry, repulsed the attack and saved the train.

John Hanna, age 20, b. Ireland, was living with my g grandparents William H and Mary Ann (Hanna) Pollock in the 1870 census for Philadelphia (2nd enumeration). John Hanna was found in the 1880, 1900 & 1910 census for Philadelphia. John was married to Mary with the following children:

In the 1880 Philadelphia census John's sister Maggie Hanna is living with them. John immigrated from Ireland in 1869.

I have hit a brick wall with my g grandmother Mary Ann Hanna and there is a possibility John Hanna was related to her. Therefore, I would like to correspond with descendants of John.

Am descended from Robert Hanna, who arrived at New York from Londonderry bound for Baltimore Oct 18th, 1832. Family later moved north to Manvers County Ontario, then west to Vancouver BC. Other Hanna's arriving the same day were George, James, Samuel, Sarah, all bound for Baltimore and possibly brothers. Sarah being Robert's wife. I'm currently looking for information regarding my ancestor NATHAN HANNA of Greenbrier Co., WV. He married 23 Dec. 1802 ALICE MCCOY, b. bet. 1782-1788 in Greenbrier Co., WV and d. abt. 1862 in Craigsville?, Nicholas Co., WV.

On another note, I've seen his parents listed as JAMES HANNA and ELIZABETH GILLILAND, and that James may be a descendant of the Clan Hannay of Sorbie Castle in Scotland. Any proof/evidence and/or info. for this?

I'm a descendant of Nathan's daughter Lydia through her marriage to John A. Hinkle.

Searching for descendants of this family - Robert Hanna was born in New York on December 14, 1906 and died in October 1979. He was the son of Robert Hanna and Agnes Gannon.
He is buried in Mount St. Mary's Cemetery, NY

Would really appreciate chatting with anyone researching this family - have a lot to share and a few things I can't find and would like to clear up.

Has anyone heard of the Hanna triplets named Ida, Eva, and Iva. There are a couple of antique post cards picturing them at about 6 or 7 years old. I've heard that they appeared in a circus in the late 1880's.

Hugh Hanna was married to Elizabeth Orr. Hugh came to Am. about 1780. James Hanna b. 1804 was their only surviving son. He moved to Seneca County Ohio about 1830. He married Sarah McClelland in Sugarcreek Wayne Co. Ohio. Their children were Hugh Orr, Samuel McClelland, William, James B., Sylvenus H., Martha Ellen, Thomas Smith, John Andrew, Sarah Jane, and Mary Elizabeth Hanna.
My husband is descended from Sylvenus>Irvin>Ruth Hanna. I have family info from reunion journal and other sources. Please E-mail me.
