I found two Hannahs women in brown county ohio, They would have been John tylers aunts..Margaret Hannahs And Martha Hannahs..These would have been John Hannahs' Daughters By his first wife..The are older than John Tyler Hannahs' Father,who is buried at Palestine Ridge Church of Christ with Anna Mehl

I am looking for information on Mattie Hannahs b. abt. 1860 in MO. She was living in Barry Co., MO in 1900, she married John H. Hodge in 1894 in Barry Co., MO. I would like to know who her parents were, when she died and how long she was married to John H. Hodge, were their any children.

john ttyler hannahs parents are james and anna mehl..they are buried at the cchurch on top of the hill between calais and batesville..my ggranfather was john tylers son william alva..they grew up on township 23 outside calias..road turns into lod hannahs road in noble county,,millers or yoders live there now.right off 379 south

Am seeking information on the father of EDWIN WAYNE HANNAH (b: 23 July 1892 [Murray County, GA] d: xx Jan 1976 [unknown location--around Murray or Whitfield County, GA]). Mother's name is ELIZABETH [Lecia] A. HANNAH who was from Old Fort, TN (b: 1866 [Old Fort, TN] d: aft 1939 [Murray or Whitfield Co., GA].

EDWIN WAYNE HANNAH worked for the L&N Railroad Edwin married CARRIE ELIZABETH CHARLES (b: 30 Aug 1900 [Ellijay, Gilmer Co., GA], d: Jan 1984 [Dalton, Whitfield CO., GA]).

EDWIN and CARRIE had a son named CHARLES EDWIN HANNAH (b: 20 Oct 1919 [Dalton, Whitfield Co., GA], d: 14 Jun 2007 [Dalton, Whitfield Co., GA]). CHARLES EDWIN HANNAH married MARY RUTH THOMAS (b: 8 Feb 1931 [Dalton, Whitfield Co., GA], d: 26 Jul 2004 [Dalton, Whitfield Co., GA]).

You may be looking at the wrong Indian tribe for Elisabeth Hanna(h). The Choctaws were native to AL and MS, not SC. The primary tribes in SC were the Cusabo, the Catawba, the Yamasee, and the Cherokee. Maybe she was Catawba rather than Choctaw. I have heard stories about Hannas being married to Cherokee in NC/SC and later possibly Chickasaw in TN. My Hanna line also came out of NC/SC - James Samuel Hannah (b 1809 in SC) whose father was likely also named James Hannah. Sometimes they used the "h" on the end of Hanna and sometimes did not. The Hanna, sometimes spelled Hannah, was from southwestern Scotland particularly the area known as Galloway and the Southern Uplands (highlands). They were not matriarchal. The clan headquarters was at one time the Castle Sorbie. A clan map of Scotland showing the location of the Hanna Clan can be found at http://www.clanhanna.org/map.html. The clan ancestors were primarily Gaels (Irish). They had a long history of opposing English rule and supporting Scotland's independence. Because of this many were stripped of their property and "Banished" (exiled) from Scotland by the English tyrant Cromwell and later by English Kings. Before the Revolutionary War they were primarily located in PA, Va and the Carolinas.

Looking for Elizabeth Hanna / Hannah. She was said to be full blooded Choctaw indian. She married Little John Smith. Their daughter Elizabeth Smith Born: abt.1796 in South Carolina, She married John Blakeley and moved to Mississippi abt 1820. would really like to fined out more about Elizabeth Hanna/Hanna, She is my frist ancestor and haven't been able to find anything on her or her parents.

I just found the following information. This is definitely the same "Polly," listed here as "Mary." I'm guessing she was Lambert's first wife, based on a story of her surviving an Indian massacre (cir. 1750's). I know him as "Bernard Duncan Lambert Van Alstyne":

Lambert Van Alstyne was baptized on 4 Mar 1765 in Catskill, Greene, New York. He was born in Catskill, Greene, New York. Parents: Jacobus Van Alstyne and Lydia Larrowa.
He was married to Anna Bell on 22 Jul 1788. Children were: James Van Alstyne, William Van Alstyne, Jochem Van Alstyne, Duncan Bell Van Alstyne .

He was married to Mary Hannah. Children were: John Van Alstyne, Bernard Van Alstyne, Alexander Van Alstyne, Jonathan Van Alstyne, David Secord Van Alstyne , Isaac Van Alstyne, Lydia Van Alstyne, Ann Van Alstyne.

Polly Hannahs mid 1700's

I am looking for help finding where my ancestor, Polly Hannahs came from. I know she was from Scotland and was married to Bernard Duncan Van Alstyne. They lived in upstate "New York" during the French Indian War (1755+). Her parents were a "Lord and Lady" so there should be records of them somewhere. I have all the family tree from Polly and Bernard to me.

I have heard that "Hannahs" or any spelling thereof, refers to a matriarchal clan led by "Hannah." A Scottish tourist I ran into told me of a street named "Hannas" in the town Paisley in Renfrewshire County in Strathclyde Scotland. He said there is a good chance this could be a link because streets are named after people.

Does any of this ring a bell?

George Hannahs, South Haven Albion MICH

Hi, I saw your message. Marvin Hannahs and his son George opened Albion's first bank in 1853. They operated a tannery here in Albion. George was also Albion's first village president in 1855. I have a nice photograph of him and his wife. Their house is still standing here in Albion. Of course he later moved to South Haven and repeated his history there. I have a chapter about him in my book, "Albion's Banks and Bankers". (still available $7) I too have wondered about any descendants? Of course George died in San Diego, California on July 27, 1906. I am looking for Hannahs family members - specifically for a Jirah Benjamin Hannahs, b. 19 December 1883 in Beloit, Rock Co. WI and his father Frank who was married to a Lenora and who was possibly from Michigan. I have old family photos that are no relation to me that I would like to see in the hands of family. some are from South Haven. There is also an Albert Hannahs in some of my information.
