A long time resident of North Aurora, IL, Philip J. Hanson, age 82, passed away peacefully June 10th at the Village at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst, IL. Born in Chicago to John Peter and Sadie Hanson (nee Artingstall), Phil was the brother of the late John P. Hanson; and late sister, Helen Bridges.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Rita Hanson (nee Urban); sister-in-law, Margaret Hanson; nephews, Dennis and Robert Hanson, James Bridges, Greg and Mark Pates, Bill Stopps; nieces, Donna Colton, Mary Ann Paulsen, Mary Gunther, and Suzanne Godeke. Phil was a proud veteran of the U. S. Marines from 1942 to 1946 and served in the South Pacific at the Battle of Tarawa. After the war, he graduated with a BS degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology as a mechanical engineer. He worked at and retired from Caterpillar.

In lieu of a funeral service, Phil had requested your prayers. A memorial mass will be offered for him at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela St., Barrington on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 10:00. Dieterle Memorial Home 630-897-1196
