Re: Mary Sharp of PA.

My GG Grandfather was Henry V. Hantz (1848-1900). He lived in the Stanton District (western PA) during 1880 as a hotel keeper. He had 2 sons (Charles Linwood and Howard V.) and one daughter named Anna E.

Charles Linwood had a son named Charles Wharton whose son was Charles Kimmel who was my dad.

I am not sure about Henry's predecessors, but I believe he may have been related to Jesse Hantz (1817-1895) from the Hempfield District who is known to have at least one son named Jacob.
Hantz family from Sokol, near Minsk?

Hi,

I'm looking to find relatives of my Great-Grandfather, Isaac Hantz. He married my Great-Grandmother, Jane Woodrow, in Leeds, UK in 1907. We think that he came from Sokol, in Poland/Russia, but we are not entirely sure about the Sokol bit. He had 7 children with Jane, and died in London, probably in around 1950. We are wondering if there were other Hantz family on his side that immigrated to the UK, or maybe to the US? Any ideas?

Susan Hantz . . . Ohio

I am looking for information of a Susanna Hantz who married Peter Smith in Montgomery county, Ohio on May 27, 1819. From what I can tell she was married before and had at least one son John Hantz. Peter Smith was living in Champaign County, Ohio he was also married prior to this marriage and had at least 3 children. Peter and Susanna (Hantz, Hance) had 8 children together: Lucinda 1820, Susan 1821, Lydia 1823, Malinda 1824, Mary 1825, Rebecca 1829, Noah 1831, and Elizabeth 1833. Peter Smith died around 1845 in Champaign County, Ohio and Susan around 1866. I also have a Sally Houtz who married a David Smith son of Peter and his first wife is this a misspelling could she be related to Susan?
Vikki

Re: ANTHONY HANTZ

Carlotta, I've thought quite a bit about the French/German possibilities of the Hantz name. And I really don't know. I have a picture of Anthony, and by his appearance (dangerous ground here I know) he appears to be French. In the few records I have regarding him, he always proudly writes he's a Frenchman. However, Hantz really does have more of a German sound to it. His father was John Hantz and his mother was Catherine Sontagg. Anthony listed her maiden name as "Sundy". I'm open to any and all theories regarding the possibilities here.
