Were you aware that Nathan Hapner had been married 3x?
ndexed as Nathan E. Hayner on Ancestry.com
1910 IL Census, Clark Co., Westfield Twp. 15 Apr 1910, ED 22. Family 34-34. I suspect that Audrey is a child of Nathan and his second wife as Nora says she has only been married 1 time.

I have spent this morning trying to verify that Your g gf Nathan is a son of Henry Harrison Hapner and his first wife Phebe Catherine Childers of Darke and Preble Co., Ohio. Phebe was a daughter of my 2g gf John Childers and my 2g gm Katherine Shields of Preble and Darke Co. Ohio.

Henry Hapner and Phebe (Childers) Hapner had a son, Nathan b. Jan 1870, probably in Preble Co. OH as that is where he is found on the 1870 census. He is age 10 on the 1880 Preble Co., Ohio census.

I am sure you have the below..... but since is just recorded it I will add it...... with a few of my notes..

1920 IN Census, Marion Co., Indianapolis, Ward 10. 15 Jan 1920; 2409 E. He brought the birthplaces from the previous person down)
Nora E. wife 51, age at 1st marriage: 23, OH OH OH (This should be the birth places for Nathan)
Audrey Fern dau 31 single IL IL IL (This should be the birthplaces for Nora)
Otho W. son 28 single IL OH IL Deliveryman for Floral Co.
Henry E.son 22 single IL OH IL Deliveryman for Meat Shop.
W.

Hi! I am just starting on Hapner names. Irene Ulery was my grandmother's cousin and she married Orville Hapner.
The only child I have for this couple is Howard Hapner and I know he used the name of Kidder also. I even have letters he wrote to my mother when he was in WWII. I have a few pictures and some census info. Would love to exchange info that I have.

Suzie

Is it a very big book? It's been so long since I was doing my research that I don't remember what my train of thought was. I said in one post that I thought "I find I am in the Jacob/Gasper family line" but I don't know how I got that.
I tried searching the web to see if any books where out there but no luck. If you could glance at the above Jacob/Gasper thing and let me know what it says? I'd appreciate it. I need to dig my notes back out!

Sharon

The last communication I had with Barbara was in Sept. 2006 and her husband has just recently died. I have not heard from her since then, although I have recently sent her an e-mail, but I have not heard back.

I did receive an updated Hapner Family Book in Feb 2000. She mentioned at that time that she was in the process of getting the index together and then it would be published. I have not heard anything on the book since then.

My book does not have an index, but I would be happy to search through it to help wherever I can.

Jeff Tyler

Hapners in CA and GA

Hello,
My name is Leah and I was born in CA but moved to WI with my mother when my parents divorced. My father's name is Steve who is still in CA. His brothers are Brian (or Bryan) in CA, Vernon in eithe CA or GA, and Glenn (deceased) and his sister is Johnnie in GA. My grandfather's name is Jesse and he is also deceased. I don't know what my grandmother's name is; she died before I was born. Anyone else from this side? I was also informed, this Father's Day, that I may have a half sister from a woman named Robin Castle. I don't know her daughter's name, but I have a list of names from CA birth records of females born between 1980-83 which is where I believe my half sister would fall. If anyone has any suggestions about how to go about locating this girl it would be much appreciated. Thanks and have a lovely day!

Esta Bunch m. ?? Hapner

am seeking information on Willis L. Bunch born c1868 Preble Co OH, d. 30 Aug 1951 at Duke Rest Home in Jamestown. He was married to Laura Stella Zeek who died in 1935. Obits list three children:

1. Charles Eugene Bunch who lived in Dayton in 1935
2. Marie Bunch m. Charles Wynkoop - Marie d. 1926
3. Esta Bunch m. ?? Hapner

My grandfather, John McNamara, was orphaned as a young child and raised by "Uncle Will and Aunt Laura" in the Eaton OH area. I do not know the surname of the couple who raised him. My grandfather left this home between 1893-1903, and is living in Cincinnati in 1906.

My grandfather said that Uncle Will was a wheat farmer, and they often traveled between Eaton OH and Richmond IN. He said Uncle Will lost a great deal of money in the "wheat bust" of the 1880s.

I have searched for over 40 years to locate and identify the "Uncle Will and Aunt Laura" in Preble Co OH who raised my grandfather.

As far as I know, my grandfather, John McNamara, was born in Lexington KY on 30 Apr 1884 (one record says he was born in 1874). His SS form said his parents were: Frank McNamara and Mary McCoy. I have not confirmed this with marriage or death records.

The family story is that his mother died when he was a baby and his father was killed on the courthouse steps -- no other details. Why was this chld taken from Lexington to Eaton? What relationship to him was Uncle Will and Aunt Laura?

If anyone can get in touch with these BUNCH descendants, please ask them to contact me directly at:
mart2542@aol.com
I am the granddaughter of Dale Andrew Hapner (deceased), Montgomery County Illinois. He is the son of Dell and Laura (Smith) Hapner. I am recently researching this family. I have information on more immediate family members, such as Eldon and family, Jesse and family, John and family, Marge and family, Leone and family. I am looking for records and documents for Dell Hapner who was born in Chester,Illinois. I am having difficulty with his parentage. My mother tells me his mother died in childbirth and that he was raised by grandparents. I have a record with Emma as his mother and one with Fannie as his mother. His father was John. I will travel to Randolph County to research Dell as time permits. If anyone can clarify any of this, it will greatly appreciated.

I have recently been researcing the Hapner family as a gift for my mother. Her father was Dale Andrew Hapner, brother to Eldon, Jesse, Margy, Leone, John. Just Friday, I met a woman at the Hillsboro Library who told me she had been in contact with Johnnie Kay, your aunt or mother, (a few years ago). I have very little information at this time. I have a little information on Dell and Laura (Smith) Hapner, Eldon's grandparents and of course my more immediate family. I have been searching in Bond County and Montgomery County for records and have found a few. Randolph County (Chester, Il.) is the birth place of Dell Hapner and I will visit there as time permits. I was a yound girl when Laura was living but I was three when Dell died and don't remember him. I am hoping that the elderly sister of Mary Hapner (deceased)wife of John Hapner (deceased), will be able to shed more light on the family.

Nettie Hapner (b.1860s), dau of Alexander/Izabell, of Darke Co., OH, wife of William Hawkey

I have an original carte de visite photograph of “William and Nettie Hawkey”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1887, in Greenville (Darke Co.) OH, and they look to be about in their upper 20s.

I found William Hawkey in the 1870 census for Butler (Darke Co.) OH, son of Frederick and Eliza. William was age 12 in 1880, and still living at home with parents. Nettie Hapner was in the same Butler 1880 census, age 13, with her parents, Alexander and Izabell Hapner. In 1900 Harrison (Preble Co.) OH census, William’s DOB is listed as Feb 1859 and Nettie as Jun 1861.

Ancestry OneWorldTree shows William Edward Hawkey with DOB 11 Feb 1859, and that he died 1928 Wayne Co., IN. OWT says that he was married to Nettie J. Hapner in Apr 1887.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to William & Nettie (Hapner) Hawkey.

She was born July 27, 1922 and died March 12, 1981.
If this is the same person, and you would like to email me at JoJohn714@aol.com, I would be happy to share with you the info I have.
I don't know that I am related to that line, but I have a book that is full of information about hundreds of Hapner's.
I am still waiting for Barbara's book, but I came across a book on line that I have purchased that was well worth the money. It's titled "Hapner in the West" If you are interested in it let me know, and I can email you the website that I purchased it from.
Jo

Eldon Maynard Hapner is not in my records yet; however, I do have Andrew Dale Hapner who lived in Hillsboro, Illinois, and he was the son of Dell Adolph Hapner and Laura Leuna Smith. Andrew Dale Hapner known as Dale was born in June 25, 1904, and died in October 1967, then a resident of Taylor Springs, Montgomery County, Illinois. If you could get information on the parents of Eldon Maynard Hapner for me (from your father or the funeral home), we can put together your ancestral line to the immigrant ancestor. You may e-mail me at lrbvpowell@omnicast.net or call (509) 244-4360. The Hapner line is through my mother, Mabel Elnora (Hapner) Baker, born in 1917 and died in 1986.

Casper Hapner....Salome Hapner line

Dear Barbara,
Salome Hapner Priser is my gt-gt-grandmother.
I descend from her daughter Mary Catherine Priser Johnson to my mother, Mary Marie Johnson King. Recently, an online cousin gave me the info connecting my Jacob B. Hapner of Kosciusko County, IN with Casper Hapner. On checking the surname board, I found your notes and references to a book you had/have/are written/writing. Do you need or want the line of descendents from Salome Hapner Priser to the present? I can provide that if you like. I'm also interested in information about your book, and anything that has been learned about the Hapner family, especially reasons for the various moves, from Germany to the colonies, and then to Ohio, etc., and any military service that has been confirmed for members of the family. Thank you, Sue Stenberg
