Coke Edgar Hardcastle, aged 85, of 1720 Arch St, a retired groceryman, died Fri. He was born at Jacksonville, a son of John and Ellen Toney Hardcastle. He was a member of the Nazarene Church and the Elks Club of No. Little Rock. Surivors: wife, Mrs. Gladys Orr Hardcastle; 3 sons: Roy and Terrell of No. Little Rock, and Coy of El Dorado; stepson Paul Major of Little Rock; 2 dtrs: Mrs. Ruth Glover, Conway, and Mrs. Gladys Ross of No. Little Rock, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth.

Her father was Benjamine Hardcastle b 1839 in Cooper, Mo.
Her mother who was married to Benjamine was Sarah Jane Mullins

Benjamine's father was Thomas Hardcastle b 1800 in Rutherford N.C.
He was married to Susan Bates b 1805 in Ky. d aft. 1850

Thomas's father was James Hardcastle b 3-29-1778 in Rutherford, N.C.
He was married to Amelia Cufomton in 1798

i'm thinking this might be my line,too.i have a nancy hardcastle who married an allemby jumps in caroline county,md.this is a line i haven't done much with as i go back about 6 generations before the name comes up.was looking on one site that said the hardcastle family was from yorkshire and there were a bunch of marmadukes.ring any bells? would be happy to work with you on this line if we are doing same one.

Attempting to locate descendants of William HARDCASTLE, born in England in abt. 1842-43 and emigrated in abt 1850, prob to the Port of New York. He served in the Civ War (Union) as a Corporal in the 40th N.Y. Vol. Infantry Reg't. He marr Amelia WERTS, prob in Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York in abt 1866.

Their Ch. included; (1) Amy, b.c. 1866 (2) Annie, b.c. 1867; (3) Ida, b.c. 1871; (4) Lucy, b.c. 1874; (5) Eliza, b. 1877; (6) Harry, b. 1880; and (7) Eugene, b. 1884, Brooklyn, NY; d. 24 JULY 1963. Several of these fam members, including wife, Amelia (d. 1888), are bur at "The Evergreens" Cem. in Brooklyn.

Any info available on this fam will be appreciated.

Dear Hardcastle List,

My dad grew up in the 40's and 50's on Arlington Drive in Walnut Park, STL, MO.

There was a Hardcastle family that lived a few doors down..

Dad's good friend was Dave. I remember his mother's name was Anna.

I remember Dave had German Shepard named Duke that would shake hands..

Later Dave bought an old farm/farmhouse nearby Long Road in Chesterfield, Missouri..

Back then it was the "country". There was a barn.. a creek..animals..couple horses, few cows.. and...

"Watch Geese" :) Remember being really scared of those geese because they would hank, flap and chase after anyone who came near... And you had to walk past them to play in the back field..

Anyhow...

I'm looking for Elizabeth Hardcastle who married Jabez Caldwell in 1790. She is supposed to be a daughter of a Dr. Hardcastle of Talbot County, MD. She died shortly after and Jabez remarried to a Mrs. Sarah Hardcastle in 1799 in Caroline County, MD, which I take to mean that Hardcastle was her married name from a first marriage. Jabez and Sarah had children, one of whom was Elizabeth Caldwell b. 5/15/1813. She later had a daughter whom she named Henrietta so I'm wondering if Henrietta Downes, who was married to Thomas H. Hardcastle, may have been a great-grandmother. Its a long shot I know. Anyway I'm hoping you may have run across some information on these individuals during your research. Thanks for any help you can provide!

I'm looking for information about a Dr. G. Hardcastle who lived in Talbot Co., MD and was born about 1750, although that is a very rough estimate. He had a daughter, Sarah who married Jabez Caldwell of Bollingbrooke, Talbot Co., MD on 12/25/1799. I have informaiton on their descendants but I don't know who was Sarah's mother or any other ancestor information for this family. Any help would be appreciated!

My line hails from Maryland. Four brothers (John,James,William, and EDWARD Hardcastle left Md. and went to Illinois about 1840. Edward had Edward Bertram who went down to Dallas Texas about 1880, his son Thomas Bertram went to west Texas about 1898 so he could drive the wagon for his future wife Stella Harris, he was star struck with Stella, whose father was moving to west Tx. Thomas Bertram has up to four ranches, president of local bank etc. He did well for his family. His son, John William H (my grandad) was rancher and funeral home owner in Silverton and Turkey, Texas for several years before moving to Meridian Texas (1945) to ranch. My dad is Billy Ray H, me, Billy Paul H.and brother Tracy still run cattle in Meridian, tho I live on coast of Tx (Lake Jackson)

My Hardcastle line comes from Maryland to Illinois (~1840 -John/James/William/EDWARD) then down to Dallas, Texas (~1880-EDWARD BERTRAM H) then out to Silverton,Texas.(~1898 - THOMAS BERTRAM H)
My grandad was John William H, dad was Billy Ray H.

I'm a Hardcastle of Woodhouse. A Joseph Hardcastle, b. 22 April 1792, was younger brother of my ggggrandfather, John (stonemason). Their parents were Joseph Hardcastle, b. 11 May 1765 and his first wife, Elizabeth Roger, who died between 2 January 1802 and 29 May 1809 (when Joseph remarried). I've got back as far as 1635 (mainly using the Mormon site), possibly to 1532, though there are a few problem dates, and Pately Bridge.
