I can trace my lineage back to a graveyard near the brand new 17 bypass/17 business split in Bertie County, NC ... My grandfather (a direct descendant), talked about growing up in North Carolina (NC) on the shores of the Albemarle Sound (in NC) - but Outer Banks side or "sound"/inland side? Bertie is not far from Edenton, Pasquatank, Perquimans, Elizabeth City, Manteo, Windsor, Camden, Currituck, Dare... I saw someone mention Granville, which is close to Pitt County and Greenville, NC if I remember right... still in the south area of the Albemarle region.

My grandfather was Dr. Hazel Edgar Harden, or as he called himself Rev.H.E.Harden. He didn't care much for the doctorate title, though it was legitimate. I know he studied some of his years of his early life at Chowan College. His doctorate was from Moody.

He started two still existing churches in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. His last church was is located in what used to be South Norfolk, VA, now consolidated into the modern day city of Chesapeake, VA. He is buried in a graveyard in Norfolk, VA.

A very dear man. I look almost exactly like him (very spooky), and share the same interests he did (theology, philosophy), though he died when I was only 9 years old. He was non-denominational, I have converted to Catholicism.

He was probably about 5'10"; middle muscular set. He was olive-complected, having straight dark hair and dark brown eyes.
