Anabelle H. Pearce
Anabelle H. Pearce, a native of Taylorsville, died Nov. 30, 2003 at the Chico Creek Convalescent Hospital located in Chico.
Anabelle was born Dec. 1, 1924 to John Arthur Hardgrave (a native of Taylorsville) and Amy May (Powers) Hardgrave (a Big Meadows native) on the family ranch in Taylorsville. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended grammar school at the former one-room school house located in Taylorsville, and went on to graduate from Greenville High School in 1941. She married Vinton Pearce on January 17, 1947.
Anabelle was a charter member of the Indian Valley Riding and Roping Club, and served as its secretary for the first 25-years of the organization. She was a member of the Indian Valley Grange for more than 50 years and was a long time member of the former Greenville Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed collecting coins and was an avid fan of country and western singer Charlie Pride.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vinton, and her brother, Willis. Anabelle is survived by her children, Vicki Pyle of Susanville; Terri Pearce of Chico; John Pearce of California; and Joe Pearce of Taylorsville, four grandchildren, and two nephews, David Hardgrave of Red Bluff and Gordon Hardgrave of Quincy.
A celebration of Anabelle's life will take place at 1pm, Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 at the Taylorsville Community United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in the family plot at the Taylorsville District Cemetery.
