I am related to the Hardings of Waldo. My husband Clinton was the son of Everett, son of Walter and Mary of Waldo. I have pictures of Mary and Walter on their 50th wedding aneversery. I also have obituareys of Walter, Mary, Everett. Clinton and George sons of Everett. Lucille daughter of Everett, Elsene daughter of Everett, and Kenneth son of Everett. Also of Fannie Harding wife of Kenneth who also was my birth sister also I have a sister who was once married to George. One of their children was Robert Harding, who married Elizabeth Davis in 1774. According to the pension request of the widow, Robert served in the Lunenburg Militia during the war for six months (two three month tours). The couple had 14 children. I don't have an exact birthdate for Robert, but Elizabeth was 86 years old in 1839. The affadavits attached to the pension request W7679 stated that Elizabeth and Robert were known by some of the witnesses their entire lives. One of their children was Ann (Nancy) who married George Farmer May 15, 1794. George and Ann lived in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. Their children were: Robert Hardin, William, Henry, Elizabeth, Martha, Theodosia, and George. My line goes through Henry who married Kizziah Jennings.

My mother's family are the Gattornos from Cuba. They lived in the province of Las Villas in Cuba. My mother's name was Emilia Rosa Gattorno; she was one of seven siblings. Her brother, Tomas's, children (my maternal cousins) live in New Jersey. My cousin Alina and I can probably trace the Cuban genealogy one generation back. Many of the Cuban Gattorno women were called Rosa; there were also plenty of Amelias. Looking forward to hearing from other Gattornos!

Thanks for the reply Katherine. I'll try these suggestions when I get some time. The Mary and other Richard I don't know about. Harding is not an uncommon name in Pa. Courtland was killed in a mine accident. He had just finished High school. First in the family to do so. My grandfather had gone into the mines full time when his father[Richard], died. I'd suggest you dig a bit deeper. Try using the site findagrave.com. Search for the cemetery where you find your Richard. Then search for Hardings in the same cemetery. From there check the census records. You should find what you're looking for. Of course the best source is going to be his actual birth date. Can you confirm that it's the date found on the WWI draft card? If so chances are he was born in Luzerne County and getting a birth record from there should be simple. You should also check the web for the local library in that town.

I did a quick search on findagrave.com and found that Richard is at rest with
Brother Courtland, died Oct 1927
A possible brother that died before age 2 - George S 1887 died April 1898
A Mary Harding died May 1925
another Richard Harding died 1930
John Harding died April 1898 (my guess is that this might be his father)

Thanks for the info. Would you know if Richard had any siblings, or what his parents names were? Cemetary records said that a John Harding paid for the cemetary plot in Pa. I know nothing of a John, my Grandfather would not say, maybe didn't know. He would never talk about his families background. My Dad said he'd never tell him anything either. Always a mystery to us.

According to the 1910 US Census your Richard Harding was born 1885 in Pennsylvania, both of his parents were born in England. His wife Catherine was born in Maryland and both of her parents were born in Wales.

Richard reports his occupation as coal miner.
Son Arlington J Harding born Pennsylvania
Son Edward C Harding born Ohio (guessing the middle C is for Cortland?)

Catherine Harding is found on the 1920 census - occupation Housekeeper with her two sons Arlington Harding born Pennsylvania abt 1907 and Cortland Harding born Ohio abt 1910 (this son appears on the 1910 census so it's easy to assume he was born 1910)

Son Arlington is found on the 1930 Census in Luzerne PA with wife Martha and son Richard. All three born in Pennsylvania

Son Arlington Harding died Jan 1985 Mountain Top Luzerne PA
Birth 23 April 1907.

I also noted that your Richard Harding registered for the WWI draft in Belmont Co Ohio signing his draft card on Sept 12, 1918 listing his wife as Catherine Harding, Neff Ohio. His card does not list day or month of birth but does confirm birth year of 1885 and states his age is 33. Occupation is still Miner.

Not sure if this is helpful or if your Hardings are related to mine. But following this information and getting a death record, marriage record or birth record for the sons will bring you much closer to the facts you seek.

Am I missing a generation or have my info wrong?????...I have a George Harding died 1980...as being born 1902. He was married to Laura Faust. George was the son of Norm Harding (wife Mary)... Norm was the son of Miller Harding (wife Henrietta Howe)...Norm was the son of Hulburt Harding & Margaret Miller. It's still unproven if Hurlburt was the son of Thomas Harding & Hannah Stark or if John and Hannah Harding.

I found that Hurlburt's son George W. Harding b.1835 was living with Hannah Harding's son Giles Hutchins Jr. and family in Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, PA in the 1920 census and his relationship to the head of the household was "cousin". He was listed as 84 yrs old and widowed.
George had been married to Aurelia and had the following children:

Eliza J. HARDING (b.1838 NY) m. John R WOLCOTT (b.1828 NY) in Shiawassee MI in 1856. They were Living in Clearfield Co. PA in the 1860 census (near Eliza's Aunt Harriet Harding Davenport) and are listed with their two children:

and then Eliza and John disappeared. I've found that Jotham married Anna Davids and died in 1920 in MI and Olive married John Blair and died in Ohio in 1917. But I can not find their parents in further census', graves, death records, etc. Does anyone know anything about this family?

Mary Harding, wife of Henry Ballinger, is shown on many trees with a birth date of 1662 to 1667 (England or Burlington Co, NJ), and a death date of 1739 (Burlington Co, NJ. I am looking for documents to support this, but as yet, have found none. Is anyone aware of any church/civil records with this info? This would include family histories or books that list them as sources.
I am also looking for proof of the birth/baptism of Mary's father, Thomas Harding; as well as proof that Mary's mother was Eleanor Bagwell. Again, there are plenty of trees out there with the info, but no documents to back it up.
Can anyone help?

Benjamin Harding, son of Stephen and Amy Gardiner Harding, married Rachel Hadsell, no inform on her. Benjamin had a son Benjamin, who married Rachael Rogers. They had many children and my wife descends from their son Elisha Harding who lived and died in Breesport, N.Y. buried in the Baptist cemetery. He married Jane Sunderlin, dau. of John and Betsey Rogers of Carmel,Putnam,N.Y. Supposedly, Rachael Rogers married a Benjamin Smith, and moved to Wayne county, New York. I am looking for my missing father, Daniel Harding born around 1960-1962. He lived in Kansas around the Larned area from 1980-1983, where he was married to Norma Jean Northcutt. The devorced in 1983. He would have had one daughter, Lamonica Vanessa Harding, born January 1983 and a step daughter, Maylynn Alisha Harding born August 1981. Both were given up for adoption.

If I can find my notes on his parents and aunts names I will post them soon.

I believe they divorced and then Mr. Rees passed away. My information says that Virginia passed away around 1935(about age 33) after injuries sustained in a house fire. It seems that Virginia must have taken her maiden name back after the divorce as all the children were raised by either her parents (Gloria Jean) or the paternal grandparents(Evan Paul and Kenneth) Rees. Could anyone have any info on Susannah Harding nee Roberts of Treharris? They are my grandparents and I know precious little, as their son John Harding moved to Australia.They used to live in Edward St and Susannah used to have a little shop in the front room and sell sweets to the children from school opposite. I know Susannah had siblings in Treharris...Emlyn, Hugh and Jane who used to live in Quakers Yard. Anything would be gratefully appreciated.

Viola Belle Harding was my great-grandmother, NOT my great, great grandmother. All of the other information remains the same.

My gg-grandmother was Viola Belle Harding, born around 1886. She married Edward Murphy from Harrisburg, PA in 1908, and there is where they and their 5 children settled until she died on March 12, 1963. Outside of that, all I know about her is she had a sister who lived with them named Mary E. Harding, born a couple years before her.
