Surnames: Davis Hardy Lovelace
I am tracing my Davis line who migrated from Pittsylvania County, Va to Madison County,Tn ca 1835.Research indicates the following five Davises, brothers and sister or possibly first cousins, migrated at about the same time to Madison County, Tn:
1. Benjamin C. Davis who married Winfred Yeaman in Dec, 1834 in Pittsylvania County.
2. Joseph Davis
3. John Egbert Davis who married Nancy Elizabeth (nee unknown) ca 1830 in Virginia
4. James G. Davis who married Nancy Lovelace in Halifax County, Va June 16, 1830.
5. Nancy Davis Hardy who married James Hardy in Pittsylvania County, Va Dec. 19, 1825

James G. Davis first went to Madison County, Tn in 1821 and began acquiring large land holdings. In 1830 he returned to Virginia and married Nancy Lovelace. James and Nancy Davis soon returned to Madison County, Tn accompanied by Nancy's brother, James Lovelace, and his family.
Census records in Tennessee show the five listed individuals living in the same immediate neighborhood in Madison County, Tennessee. Nancy Davis Hardy, widow, and her children, were enumerated under head of household Joseph Davis who was single. James Lovelace also lived in this small area.
Records of Pittsylvania County, Virginia reflect will of William Davis was probated June 20, 1791. Children listed as: Benjamin Davis
John Davis
Joseph Davis
Nancy Davis
It is 'possible' this William Davis deceased 1791 could be the brother of a Benjamin Davis and /or Daniel Davis who migrated from Pennsylvania (Chester County,Pa) to Virginia in the early 1800s.
At this time I conjecture my five listed Davis migrants from Pittsylvania County, Va to Madison County, Tn are the children of one or more of the children of William Davis deceased 1791.
I would be delighted to work with and share information with any interested researcher. Any information most appreciated.
