Silas Kerna Hardy and Rosa Belle Crawford were my grandparents. My mother was Daisy Marie Hardy. She had sisters, Edith Hardy and Dorothy Nadeen Hardy and a brother Kenneth Hardy. When the children were young they were placed in Whitaker State Orphan Home in Pryor Oklahoma. Silas was also called Sam. He was a miner and moved frequently to try and locate work. Rosa Belle was sick possibly with sleeping sickness so the courts placed the children in the orphan home.

I am looking for info on my Gr Grandfather John Wesley Hardy born 18 Nov 1854 in Jackson, MS. He was married to a Lottie Ann ? and had 4 children (Claude Beckly, Percy Lee, Julia Elizabeth, and John Wesley Jr.).

He later married my Gr Grandmother Molly Katherine Ward Mowery and had 4 more children (Willie Mae, Mollie, Virgil and Joel Carlysle).

I have been unable to find anything on John Wesley Hardy or Molly Katherine Ward Mowery.

Several researchers of Thomas Hardy who married Elizabeth Crawford, daughter of William Crawford and Margaret Kilpatrick in Botetourt County, VA, have used the following source for their entries on Ancestry.com. Has anyone ever verified that this Elizabeth Crawford (md. Hardy) is actually a cousin of Col. William Crawford mentioned below? I'd sure like to find a Hardy researcher who is using something other than a quote from a history book as his/her source.

Seek any &all information about this man and his family. He died in Armagh on 24 Feb 1936. Hardy Memorial Grammar School (Richhill) named for him. He was a Mason (Lodge 39, inducted 13 May 1896)
he was Presbyterian (Old Church) in Richhill. I found reference to farmer THHardy with following designation which I don't know what means 'J.P. U.D.C.' I also found a THHardy who owned a leather factory. I live in California and not the world's best geneaologist and I need a little help. I THINK his children were Charles, Thomas, Amy, Lillian and Nina. Chas & Thomas owned C & T Hardy Dry Goods High St Lisburn and Amy was active in that business. They went out of business maybe 1960. William A Hardy born 1844 AL died 1911 AR married 1883 Georgia Ellen Monk. My great-grandfather ran away from home at a very early age and never talked about his family. In the early 1900's he advertised in an AL newspaper for his family and his brother answered. He was James Henry Hardy and his wife Mary Jane Oscar. They had a granddaughter Manila Finlejohn. William came home with several photos of family. The studio was Phoenix City, AL. Photos are of Minnie Hardy, John Hardy, Sarah Elkins, cousin Bessie, Dessie Linton, Velma Johnson and part of a picture of Henry O., Jessie and Oscar Hardy. Henry's wife Mary Jane, her mother and family were cut off. This is the only photo I have. Does anyone recognize any of these names? Thank you for your help.

Looking for proof of parentage of Richard I. Hardy to finish an application to join the DAR. Family history says, John Hardy born 1780 - died 1857 and Rhoda (Phillips) Hardy born 1794 and died 11 Aug 1875 are the parents of Richard. They were in Henry County between 1855 - 1875. Richard Hardy was my great grandfather. They are buried in the Hardy Cemetery on Geiger Road just one-tenth of a mile south of the Houston County line. They actually lived in the area just north of Dothan, which became Houston County.

In 1895 John M Hardy of 227 Dumbarton Road, Glasgow, wrote a letter to the Cramond Parish Church in Midlothian re the death date of Caleb Atkinson of Cramond. The letter is now in the National Archives of Scotland. I am keen to find out why he was interested in Caleb.

Robert Hardy and Sophia Adair Howard were married in 1792 and had 11 children. He was a vicar at Stoughton, Walberton, and a couple other places in Sussex.
My ancestor Charles John Joseph Christopher Hardy, who emigrated to Louisiana, may have been one of their sons. Does anyone have the names and birthdates of the 11 children?

Branch of family moved from NH to MI over one hundred years ago. The Hardy family history was not able to track them. They were the children of Charles Hardy of Chester, NH. My mother was direct descendant.
Original family were primary founders of Ipswich, MA. circa. 1630, part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony settlers.

Julia Hardy was born abt. 1813 in I believe So. Carolina. I believe she died in Arkansas. Not sure exactly when. She married John Lansdale born abt 1799. They had I believe 5 children:

My ancestry goes back to and further than William Hardy (Will dated October 21, 1790), of Lunenburg County, Virginia, son of Richard Hardy (b. 1699), of Isle of Wight County, Virginia, and his wife, Mary Covington, of Amelia County, Virginia. William Hardy's wife was named Mary (last name unknown). William Hardy was a Revolutionary soldier. He entered the army February 14, 1778, and served in the company of Captain William Grimes, in the 15th Virginia Regiment, commanded by Major Gustavus Wallace. Walter Lester was 7 on the 1900 census and not listed after that.

Thomas and Earnest were listed on the 1900 & 1910 Census.
Mattie died 6 Feb 1916 and I can not find them on a 1920 census.

I was told Earnest md Winnie New 13 Aug 1925.

Maurice and Judy was James Newton & Sarah E. Mcginnis Hardy sons.

Walter Lester, Thomas & Earnest were James Newton and Martha Denton Hardy sons.

My ancestor Augusta S. Seebeck (b. 8-23-1912, d. 9-19-1998) married Raymond W. Hardy (b. 2-22-1911, d. 8-19-1992). They were married on April 8, 1933 in the Bronx, New York City.

According to the marriage certificate, Raymond W. Hardy was the son of Ernest Hardy and Clara (last name difficult to read, but could be "Draper").

This out of print book contains information on Semiramus Priestly Hardy and her parents, Dr Jonathan Hardy and Elizabeth Martha (or Martha Elizabeth or Elizabeth May) Cochran. I'd either like copies of the pages relating to her parents and siblings, or the biographical information on them. Semiramus married Samuel Snodgrass whose parents were Hugh Snodgrass and Charlotte King.

Hardy family in Wymeswold, Leicestershire, England 1750-1851

I'm trying to untangle some of the Hardy lines in Wymeswold and have gotten only so far with the parish registers, census, and civil registration.

Specifically, I'm trying to identify the parents of Ann Hardy ~1798-1870 (who married John Wootton and emigrated to Ontario, Canada with extended family, including daughter Sarah Wootton who married a John Hardy) and John Hardy ~1800-~1880 (cordwainer) who married Sarah Morris and remained in England.

My belief in Ann and John being siblings comes from a comment in "The Woottons of Ontario" that Sarah Wootton (daughter of John and Ann) married her first cousin (who would have been a son of Ann Hardy Wootton's brother) and the GRO marriage record which lists Sarah's husband John's father as John Hardy, shoemaker.

I'd be pleased to correspond with anyone who's working in this area.

Henry Hardy/Rachel Beasley Grayson, VA

Am looking for any information, but especially anecdotes, about Henry Hardy, born 10 Feb 1797 and died after 1850 in Grayson, VA. He was married to Rachel Beasley 17 Jan 1822 in Grayson, VA. She was born 25 Aug 1805 in Grayson, VA. They were my ggg-grandparents.

Henry was the son of John Hardy, born 1750 in VA. I have been unable to locate any information on John's wife.

There seems to be confusion as to the parents of Rachel Beasley. Some sites identify Benjamin Beasley and a Cherokee woman named Catherine. Other sites identify Robert Beasley and Catherine Cato.

I'm finding lots of information on Joseph Hardy and up... but very little to none on Joseph down. I have unconfirmed information that our great-great grandfather (William Eustis Hardy) is a descendent of Joseph Hardy, but am unable to confirm. If anyone has any info or direction - I would be very very appreciative!!!!!!!! I'm trying to find the lineage for our two small children on their father's side. : )

The Hardy Royalty Connection???

Hi Everyone,

I've recently been trying to validate the marriage of John Hardy and Mary Stanley. I've noticed that almost every family tree I have found on the Hardy Lineage has this marriage listed, but often with no documentation.

I recently went to my local library and looked up the Stanley lineage, the Pole lineage and the Neville lineage (all Noble family lines the Hardy family is supposedly connected to) in Burke's Peerage & Baronetege. Unfortunately, I found no documentation of Mary Stanley marrying John Hardy; no documentation of Margaret Pole marrying a John De Hardy. I also looked at the records for the Lord Mayor of London, which can now be viewed online. It has no John Hardy ever listed as a Lord Mayor of London, although there is a John Hardy listed as a Sheriff of London.

After this discovery, I went back to various Hardy genealogy sites to try and figure out where the information about the Hardy family's distant relationship to British royalty is coming from. I found that every documented source I found was the book by James E. Kibbler, Fields of Our Fathers, which is NOT a historical record, it's a historical fiction novel!

It's looking more and more like the information many of us have on the Hardy lineage is undocumented, unsourced and therefore unverified as positive fact.

Any information you can give me to the contrary would be much appreciated. I'm just trying to do good solid research and find out the truth! Please feel free to pass this email along to anyone else who may be researching the Hardy line and could provide documented and sourced information, or may be interested to know what I've found so far in my own search.

Death of Ms. Mathilde M. Hardy in Guatemala

Anyone interested in a copy of the U.S. Department of State's "Report of the Death of an American Citizen" for Ms. Mathilde M. Hardy, please contact me so I can conduct research to locate the record. Ms. Hardy died in Guatemala on May 5, 1951.
