marriage of Pearl Hare to Mary Copper, 1906 Kansas

Glasco Sun, Cloud County, Kansas, Feb. 2, 1906, page 1:
Hare-Copper
Mr. Pearl Hare and Miss Mary Copper were married at the bride's home Monday, at noon, Rev. Moore officiating. A fine dinner was prepared for them by the bride's family, and that evening they drove to Concordia where a supper was served by friends. They have since gone to Western Kansas on a two weeks' visit to relatives, and when they return will go to housekeeping on the Webster farm, about five miles southwest of Glasco. Our impression is that these young people deserve about the best life can afford, and here's hoping that they may receive a just proportion of it as they go along.

I'm wondering if Anna may be the daughter of Charles & Elizabeth Hare from Albany. I found a 1910 census (she would have been married by then) and the Hare family had a maid named Leona Jenkins. It's a coincidence that Anna & George named their daughter, Leona (my great aunt). Any information on Charles & Elizabeth, please let me know.

My email address is bethhowell@cox.net I am so excited. This is my first day on ancestry.com and I have already connected with someone. I am not good at sending pictures with my printer, scanner; so I will have to mail them to you. I just came back from a Berry reunion in Lamar, Mo. in September and shared some of the findings I have. It started with me wanting to apply to DAR and I had to find a revoluntary war patriot in the family. It happened to be on the Berry/Arner side, but that led to all kinds of genealogy research on both sides. That is why I have gone into the Cline side. Also, a lot of records left behind to my mother, Millie Beth Berry, by her uncle Bert Cline. Look forward to hearing from you. Beth

Hi Beth:
I would love to see the photo's you have. I suspect you have a photo of Martha Elizabeth Hare Cline. She was Amon Cline's first wife. Mary Summers was her mother. If you will send me your email address I will open my tree for you so you can see the few old Cline photo's I have. My 82 yr old Mother remembers Aunt Myrtle and my Grandmother lived with Amon and Mary while she went to High School. I can't wait to exchange information!

Bart Sugden Bart10146305@aol.com

obit for Deluny Lawrence Hare, born 1829 Ohio, died 1908 Kansas

Glasco Sun, Cloud County, Kansas, Dec. 11, 1908, page 5:
Obituary of D.L. Hare
Deluny Lawrence Hare was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, March 4, 1829. Died in Glasco, Kansas, Dec. 5, 1908, aged 70 years, 9 months and 1 day.
Early in his life he removed with his parents to Noble county, Indiana, where he grew to manhood and united in marriage with Rebecca Burk. To this union were born three sons and six daughters, all of whom survive him. In 1849 he moved to Iowa, and from thence to Missouri in 1861. He came to Kansas in 1871, and was an honored and respected citizen of Glasco at the time of his death.
In 1895 he suffered the loss of his companion by the hand of the enemy, death. Four years later, in 1899, he was again united in marriage, to Fannie Grantier, who is left to mourn his loss.
Early in life he united with the church commonly known as the Disciples of Christ, but later he united with the Advent Christian church, of which he was a member at the time of his death.
Brother Hare was a man noted for his honesty, integrity and industry. He was generous to a fault, if generosity can be called a fault. But his life's work is done; he sleeps in death. We have laid him in the grave to await the coming of Jesus, at which time "All that are in the graves shall hear his (Christ's) voice and shall come forth (from the grave) they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation." -- Jno. 5:28-29.
The funeral was held in the Methodist Episcopal church and was conducted by Rev. J.T. Bates, pastor of said church, assisted by the writer. Brother Hare leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. May Gad comfort and bless them, and help us all to live in righteousness and true holiness.
C. T. Faris
______________________________
Mr. Hare had been very ill, but had recovered in health so as to be up and about some. It was confidently hoped that he would soon be as well as ever, when, Saturday afternoon, he was stricken and death came quickly.

Would love to connect with any Hare families from upstate New York. I'm hoping to come across the parentage of Anna May (Mae) Hare. According to census records, she was born in New York and she would have been born around 1885. She married George Van Dyck and lived with his family in Schenectady - Cornelius and Ardella Van Dyck.

Hare in Charleston SC

I am helping a friend research her family and believe that she decends from the Hare line. I found in the 1880 census her GGrandfather Charles H (Henry) Jones is listed in the household of his grandmother - a Hare. To me it looks like Lillian M. but they have it indexed as Susan M. ??? Born around 1830 - listed as a widow. As listed is Charle's mother, Roberta L., his siblings and his aunt, Mary P. His mother is also listed as a widow - so there are three adult women in this household but no men.

Roberta L. Jones - Hare was born around 1858. I need guidance to find her deceased father. Line is promedant (sp) in the Charleson SC area - but accorgin to Roberta and Mry's info their father was born in PA. So this Hare was born in PA and somehow made his way to SC by the time Mary was born in abt. 1850.

Hope this mkes sense. I'm going to try and find a link to the Hair Family Genealogy to check for a connetcion there.

Hi Janet, I don’t know where to start; I haven’t been too diligent of late on the genealogy of my family. It is nice to hear that your family knew my grandparents when they lived on Colmore Row, I never was there, and I only visited England twice, a very long time ago. What year did your family know my Grandparents? I am going to have to get a genealogy chart to try to get the family tree straight for my 17 year old son and for me.
If you have any questions I can help you with just ask.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Phil Hare

phare@optonline.net

It may have been around the same time that they moved to Canada, does this sound like your family?

marriage of John White and Alice Hare, 1875, Kansas

Delphos Republican, Ottawa County, Kansas, Oct. 15, 1925, page 5:
Married Fifty Years
Mr. and Mrs. John White celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a dinner Sunday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Ira D. Mullinax, in St. Louis, with whom they have been making their home since leaving Delphos a little over two years ago. They were married October 10, 1875 in Concordia, driving there in a big wagon from the home of the bride between Delphos and Glasco. Mrs. White's maiden name was Alice Hare.
"Few farmers had buggies in those early days," said Mr. White, in recalling pioneer times in Kansas. The newly married pair took up their residence on Mr. White's claim west of Delphos. Several years later they moved to town. They have been personally acquainted with practically all the early settlers of this section and have numerous relatives in Ottawa and adjoining counties.

Charles Hare and Agnes McIlwraith, Limerick to Wisconsin

Looking for descendants of this couple, who married in Ireland in 1883 and moved to Wisconsin via Kansas. They had 10 children: Charles,Noel, John Douglas Hare (died WW1), Arthur Garnet (joined the circus), Clarence, St George (died WW1), Harold, Agnes, Esther and Violet. I've seen them on the 1930 US census in Wisconsin, where the younger children were born. Charles senior worked for Dupont for many years. He was born in Limerick, one of nine siblings I know more about, but his father George Frederick Hare was born in Ipswich, Suffolk. A brother of Charles, Douglas Hare, went to California in the 1880s and died there after WW2.
Interested to hear from anyone with links to this family.

If he did, and you have his e-mail address could you ask him to contact me please?
Did you happen to come across an Anna May Hare in your research? I'm trying to find info on my great grandmother, but there's nothing.

Thanks!

The John Hare you speak of came over from Co. Cavan at the age of 15 or 16 by himself and stayed with his cousin (my great-great-great grandfather James)on Catherine St. in Philadelphia. He married Margaret Quinn ca 1865. They had the following children:
Catherine Hare b.1866
Mary Hare b.1868
James b. 1870
Margaret and John-twins 1872
Louis J. 1881
Helen b. 1885
John died Jan 1, 1890 baptized Nov. 1839, Drumgoon (Cootehill, Ireland)
