Annabelle Haren was my great aunt, there is a bit of confusion though on her father's name. My great grandfather's name is actually Mack Dougal Haren. He is buried in Inglewood, CA (I have a photo of the gravesite). I would love to get my grandfather (Annabelle's Brother) Donald Haren involved in this conversation. I have an extensive family tree that he put together, and I am sure he could include a lot of family history. Please email me if interested. aharen@gmail.com

Would you be able to tell me where Sophia Schneiders comes into yur family? We have a ggg grand father who is from Prussia, we cannot find his parents or brothers. We have been told maybe the names of brothers are Peter and Nicolas Schneider. Where do you live at. Do you attend the Fulda picnic in the fall; at Fulda, Ohio?
Michael,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am aware of the Haren's in Spanish Point. The elder Michael is my father's first cousin. Thank you for the Lahinch lead on the stone mason question. This has come up recently here in the states. A decendent of the Haran family which operated TJ Haran Monuments in Brooklyn, NY has contacted a cousin of mine. Our fathers always referred to this family as their cousins. We think it may actually be that they are my grandfather's cousins. Any thoughts? Also, are you aware of the O'Connors who lived in Letterkelly in 1901 and who seem to have moved to the Hand Cross before 1911? Three of them married Haran siblings, including my grandfather.
GRMA
Mike

Dear Michael,

Thanks for your communication. I am not aware of any connection between our families. I have known your family. Michael moved from Letterkelly to Spanish Point when he married a lady named Halloran, many years ago. I think that they are still alive. I know they had a family and one of them named Michael lives there still. I don't know anything about the stone masons that you have mentioned. But there are Haren's in Lahinch, or Liscannor, Co. Clare, who erect headstones over graves. I left Letterkelly 62 years ago and now live in Galway. My nearest relative still living in Letterkelly, is my first cousin Margaret Greene (Nee Rynne). Her mother was Bridget Harhen. There is a Tom Haran, a brother of Michael Haran, Spanish Point, still living on the outskirts of Ennis, Co. Clare. He was a tradesman, builder, carpenter.

Hi: I hope you are still interested in the name Haren. I've just been trawling the Net looking for references to Inagh. Can I have a 'nibble' at your query. My grandmother's NSW marriage certificate lists her mother's maiden name as Norah Haren from Inagh, County Clare. The 1901 Census lists my great grandmother as still living in Inagh, District of Ennistimon at age 66 - this puts her birth circa 1835. Her female children were named Hanorah, Bridget, Maggie and Katie. The first 2 migated to Australia circa 1880's the other 2 sisters migrated to the States. I hope the information doesn't put too many cats into your equation. Regards

Thank you but I am not really searching the HAREN so much, you see in the 1930 census it shows three little children living with them, ANITA BECK, ROSIE BECK, AND WILLIAM BECK. one of the BECK children contacted me and wanted me to find out if they might be adopted. My first findings were with the HAREN's in LA. on these children. I would love to find out where they came from but they were born between the 1920-1930 census so that is all I have found out so far. I thought if I look for the HARENS they might be related in some way. Thank you for your help.
Pat Steele
Riverside, CA.

My grandfather, Michael J. Haran (Pop), was born in the ennistymon area (probably not in tonw) on July 22, 1881. He appears to be the fifth of nine(?) children born to Patrick Haren and Honorah Donohue. Pop's oldest sisters name was spelled Harhen. All or most of Pop's siblings came to NY and settled in Flatbush, Brooklyn (Holy Cross Parish). Cousins, owned and operated TJ Haran Monuments at Holy Cross Cemetery. Pop married eileen O'Connor around 1915 in the US. I don't know where she is from. Pop's brother Patrick maried Marie O'Connor, my grandmothers sister. Pop had four children - Mary Veronica (Ronnie), Michael J. (Sonny0, my father, Mildred who died of diptheria in the late 1920s and Jack who is still alive and is planning his first trip to the old sod in June. My e-mail is mharan@optonline.net if you want to contack me.

Hello Michael,
I jsut saw your post this morning. Sorry about the year and a half delay. My family is from Letterkelly as well. My grgrandfather was a Patrick Haren born abut 1847. He married Honorah Donohue (O'Donohue). All of their children except Thomas Haren emigrated to Brooklyn NY around 1900 give or take up to ten years. My grandfather, Michael Haran, one of his brothers and one sister all married O'Connor siblings, also from Letterkelly although the weddings all took place at Holy Cross Church, Flatbush, Brooklyn NY. Thomas Haren, who stayed in Letterkelly had several children, one of whom, also Michael still owns the Letterkelly property although they now live in Spanish Point, Miltown Malbay. They also have a son Michael and are dairy farmers. The Letterkelly property is used for summer grazing.
Do you still live in Letterkelly? Also, do you know anything about any stone masons in the family. My father's Uncle Walter, and a cousin Patrick and a T.J. Haran operated a monument business at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn. I had met a woman in Ennistimon named Mary Haran who operated a pub there (now gone). She told me about some Haran's/Haren's who carved the Mission Cross in the Ennistimon church yard. The stone is dated 1856 but there are no names on it.
