Hi. My name is Lachelle and my Maiden name is McLeymore.. I have been researching my ancestry and I have hit a brick wall on the Cherokee side..i have found that my great grandpa Samuel H. McLeymore who was full blooded Cherokee chose this alias of McLeymore. I have found the actual census records in cherokee and his name was Oo wah wah Se tah!!!!! He got the name MCleymore from somewhere...His brother is John Mcleymore!!! Isn't this crazy. I am really not a Mcleymore because just like the African slaves they took the name of the masters...that is what oo wah wah se tah did as well.. I know I have to have relatives in Oklahoma because of the TRAIL OF TEARS! I would love to hear your story!
