Harkins Family Ireland

I am looking for any more members of the Harkins family that came from Raphoe in Donegal to Scotland or any siblings of John Harkins born 1799 who married a Mary Gallagher. She was also from Ireland believed to be County Tyrone. Their son Daniel born around 1821 married a Catherine Paik/Pake. This is my husbands gt/gt/gt/ grandfather. Can anyone help?

Elizabeth Grieve

May I suggest you determine who was alive in 1930 and where they lived and start with the 1930 US Census. In 2 years the 1940 US Census will be released and you can find further information then. But start with the 1930 US Census and go backwards every 10 years with the Census.

You local Library may have a Genealogy Dept that can provide research help.

You can email me at mcpeache@gmail.com.

Yep, that would be my car. She lets us keep it there in the summer so we don't have to drive it back and forth all the time. It'd be great to meet. I'm not sure exactly when we'll be there. Classes start at school on the 12 of August, so we'll probably be getting my car that weekend. We'll be leaving VA on the 7th or 8th, and going right to campus so I can get my books, etc for classes. If it's like last summer, I'll finish out the weeks classes and then my mom, grandma, and grandpa will drive me up to Ponca to visit and pick up my car. Last year we went up Friday afternoon and left Sunday afternoon to get me back to Guymon for classes on Monday. I'll let you know for sure when we'll be there once I know more.

Do you have an email or something I can contact you with besides this message?

Yeah, I actually live off campus in Guymon. Yes, Keith and Arline are my grandparents. Keith II (your cousin) is my Uncle Keith, and his younger brother is my Uncle Rusty. Debbie (Keith and Arline's only girl) is my mom. Right now, my grandparents, mom, and both uncles are all living in VA. I don't have any info on my dad.

I remember meeting your mom and dad. One summer, when great grandma lived in her old house, Grandpa and Grandma took me and 3 of Keith's kids to the reunion. One of them, Kristina, hurt her wrist when we were playing tag, and Grandma and Grandpa took her to the hospital. Your dad drove the remaining three of us back to our hotel since we were staying near him. He stopped at his hotel so he could check on his wife. She was awake when we went in, and we talked to her for a few minutes. I don't remember her very well, but I do remember that I met her and she was nice to us.

I know a guy that used to go to school in Shawnee. He loved it there. What is Amanda studying? I'm studying to be an elementary teacher, and I plan to stay in Oklahoma once I graduate in a few years.

The reunion sounds nice. It's been awhile since I've seen anyone besides Aunt Bonnie, Uncle Bobby, Aunt Kaye, Todd (and his family) and great grandma. Grandma, Uncle Rusty, and I stopped overnight for a visit in Ponca back in May when we were on our way back to Virginia (we always drive the way in August and May) and everyone seemed to be doing well.

I know what you mean about sticking to yourself. For the longest time, I was one of the few kids that would show up, or I was the oldest or youngest. Now it's gotten to where, if we go to the reunions, I end up haning out with Todd's kids or the adults.

My name is Kimberly by the way.

Yeah. Up by Guymon,Oklahoma right? Keith and Arlene are your grandparents right? I aplogize who is your parenst? I know my cousin Keith(Keith and Arlene) son lives in Virgina talk to him online. Ralph and Judy Harkins are my parents. Linda and Joe are my older silbings. Linda is married to Steve Nelson lives in Pauls valley. My mom lives in Pauls valley also next door to my sister whoc takes care of her. My mom had massive stroke in June 1990. Linda had 3 daughters Jenny,Jill, and Shelly. Jenny lives in Norman and is married and I think has 4 kids. Jill and Shelly I am not sure. My brother Joe lives in Moore,Ok and is married to Denise. I was the youngest my name is Karen. I have 2 kids. Amanda she is 22 and has little girl(Liberty) who is 15 months. Amanda is going to school at Gordon Cooper in Shawnee. Brett is 19 and has 7 month son(Blake) and one on the way.

The reunion was pretty good. Uncle Ted and Aunt Mary where there. Aunt Bonnie also was there. Of course Uncle Bobby and Aunt Kaye. Todd was there with his family. A lot of the mieir family was there and I barely knew any of them. grandma is doing good. She has hard time remembering everyone.

I remembering going to fmaily reunions as kid and up until I was 18 then couldnt make them that much. When I was kid I mainly stayed to myself I was in between everyone age either two young or too old.

I still talk to Aunt Mary (Ronnie ex wife). She will always be my Aunt Mary.

Yes I am looking for information still. And I think I've met your dad, if he's gone to the family reunion within the past 15-20 years. My grandpa is Keith, and I think I've met all of his living siblings at least once. I think the only reason I got to see the book was because we were down there around one of the times they were talking about it, and Grandpa and my mom asked for a copy.

I'd guess your daughter is about my age, since you'd be a cousin to my mom and 2 uncles. If you had ever been to the reunions as a kid you might have met them. Debbie, Keith, and Russel (Rusty). My grandpa was in the Navy, so they didn't always get to make it down, and now we live in Virginia, so it's hard for them to get time off for the reunion.

I actually go to college in OK. I don't know if you've heard of it, not a lot of people, even people from OK, have. I go to OK Panhandle State, off of Hwy 54.

I'd be interested in seeing pictures sometime, as I haven't been able to get my hands on any. I've seen a lot of the ones Great Grandma Wilma has, but Grandpa doesn't seem to really have any.

How was the reunion? We couldn't make it down. With me going to school down there, it's very difficult for my family to get the time off in the middle of the summer to go down when they'll be going down in August to drop me off and in May to pick me up.

Are you still looking for information on the Harkins family. Floyd L Harkins is my grandfather. My dad is Ralph Harkins. I know the book you are talking about but I never received copy and it was never shared with me. I know I asked to see the book but I was just teenager and Aunt Bonnie and Aunt Peggy snubbed their nose at my request(ignored). Floyd was married to Wilma(who still lives in Ponca City). They had 9 children Floyd Jr(passed away),Peggy Lee(passed away),Ted,Bonnie,Ronnie,Raplh,Keith,Bobby,Kenny. I know very few of my relatives. I do have pictures of grandpa floyds family, he sent them to us when I was kid(never knew grandpa Floyd). My daughter began asking me about grandma wilma and family so I did web search and found this article. I am Harkins who still lives in Oklahoma. Went to the family reunion of Harkins-Meir this past weekend.

Census help, please?

I am tracking a family of Harkins which are listed on ancestry as being in the 1920 and 1930 census. I do not have an ancestry membership, and when I try to look it up through other means, I cannot find the information. If someone would be willing to look it up for me, I greatly thank you.

In 1920, Rosa L Harkins (b. abt 1896) is listed in Greene County, Arkansas..She might have a Martin Cager Harkins, aka M.C. or Martin K. I am intersted in knowing what family is listed with her, is there possibly a Caroline or J.H. Morgan in the home or close by, and what town.. thank you.

In 1930, Rosa L Harkins (b. abt 1896) is listed in Fayette, Fayette County, Alabama. I believe it lists the head of household as Cager, which is her husband Martin Cager Harkins. Also I am interested in knowing if there is possibly a Caroline or J.H. Morgan in the home or close by in addition to the household census info.

Again, any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Are you looking for a Harkins family? My family lived in Fort Worth and some still do. William Harkins was my g-father. His father was John Harkins. They moved here from Oklahoma in the 1930's. We know nothing about John's wife. Not even sure of her name, we think it might be Daisey.
You need to look at Henry's Obituary for his burial place and she should be buried there too.

You can also look her up on SSDI - Social Security Death Index - on ancestry.com or rootsweb.com - go to the home page and look for the SSDI and click on it and type in the name she had at her death and see if you can find her there and it will give you her DoB and DoD and where she lived when she died.

William Harkins/Nancy Ann Stell

I'm trying to find out who the parents of William Harkins were. He was born around 1788. He first shows up in Morgan County, Georgia in 1808 when he married Nancy Ann Stell. His parents may have been from South Carolina. William and Nancy moved to Fayette County, Georgia after their marriage and settled there. They had several children while living there (Rebecca, Sarah, Elizabeth, Thomas Rhoades, James W., and Martha). William eventually received a grant for land in Newnan, Coweta County, Georgia. After settling there twins were born to them. William Jackson and Mary Ann. Their last child was also born there, Cecelia Amanda Harkins. In the late 1850's William and Nancy moved to Leon County, Texas, to join Nancy's family there. In 1860 William and Nancy are living in Coltharp, Houston County, Texas. They both died in 1861. I'm wondering if William Harkins is connected somehow to the Hugh Harkins family of South Carolina. If you're connected to my Harkins in any way, I'd love to hear from you. My email is joshtaylor@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to determine the parents of Mattie Birdsong Harkins (b. 1853 in Georgia). At age 17, she is living with James W. Harkins (b. 1819 originally from Fayette Co. and Coweta Co. Georgia)according to the Houston County, Texas 1870 Census. She is not listed in James W. Harkins household in the 1860 census so I don't know if he is her father or not. Mattie had a son, Rice M. Kennedy, who lived with Clyde (Harkins)Steed after Mattie died. The 1910 Angelina County, Texas Census lists the relationship to Clyde as "cousin". Does anyone have some Harkins family tree info that will help me out?
