I have a .pdf copy of a Harman genealogy written by John Newton Harman for the Tazewell Historical Society in 1925 that I would be happy to send anybody working on that line. It has loads of information on the Virginia Harmans, and perhaps the work someone else does on the family will help me find the mysterious father of Cythia Harman b. 1816.

Please e.mail me direct at lvehko@gmail.com, as I don't check the board here very often.

Thanks -- Lotte V.

I recently discovered this online Wiki for family trees. I would love it if anyone with information on the Heinrich Adam Harman line would add information:

http://en.rodovid.org/wk/Person:266377

I am especially interested in Cynthia Harman, b. 1816, specifically, who her father was, as I have not been able to find out, and she carried her mother's family name (Harman). Her file is here:

http://en.rodovid.org/wk/Person:266381

If you aren't familiar with how to use the Wiki, please email me and I'll help.

Thanks in advance for your help! Please forward this to anybody in the Harman line that you think might be interested.

Lotte Vehko
Austin, Texas

For what it's worth. Several years ago I was in Bonanza, Arkansas, where William Neel Harman and Orlenia are buried. I was doing some research on the Harman line. I talked with an older lady who I believe was a descendant of William Harman. She had grown up in Bonanza and knew a lot about Mr. Harman. If I remember correctly she told me that she remembered or at least was told that he was a "very nice old gentleman". They are buried in a very nice cemetery in Bonanza & the tombstone is somewhat large and in very good condition. Bob Beasley

Re: Cutliff Harmon

I also have just restarted some genealogical search. I have hit a roadblock or enigma concerning the family tree. Going backwards from where I know I have good information, I have a problem with a George Adam Harmon/Herman > Cutliff Harmon > Mathais Harmon > Levi Harmon > B. F. Harmon chain. As I understand the supposed chain, George Adam Harman (1710-1787 or 1788) married Margaret Wiley (1740) and they had four children, including Cutliff (1748)married Susan Fouts/Pfouts and they had 10 children, including an Eli and a Mathais (1770?-1856) who is the father of Levi and grandfather of B.F. Harmon. However, there is another Cutliff (1809-1868) who married Peninah and they had 10? children including an Eli d. 1852). But this Cutliff apparently is not in my chain, but this part of the enigma.
According to the information I have Matthais/Sheets had 7 children including a Cutliff, Levi and Eli. However, the Cutliff here married a Penina Newby (1830) and they had a son named Eli. To complicate matters there is at least one other Mathais/Matthais Harmon (married Mary) who is no relation to my chain.

Anyhow, I am trying to find out definitely if the chain is as follows: Johan Michael Hermann>George Adam Harmon >Cutliff Harmon> Matthais Harmon>Levi>BF Harmon. I have a Matthais in Indiana along with Levi and BF with NC roots.

Could you have any clairification? Thank you.

Pam,I have directions to the Harman Cemetery in Putnam Co.
Ohio. It is near Gilboa, on Old Highway 224 Between County Roads 3 and 5. Old 224 is between the New 224 and the river. I think it is the Blanchard River.
Also I was in Ft. Jennings, the Library in Ottawa was flooded out and the County Family History Center was relocated, this is only tempory.
In the Cemetery book for Harman Cemetery had a Donald F. Harman 1916-1975, T Sgt Army Air Forces WWII
next Sarah G Harman, Mother, 1877-1921 and Franics A Harman
Father, 1875-1960. Putnam Co. Obits are being indexed to the Hayes Library website. I talked to a lady who was putting them on the site. I hope this helped.
Hi there I have Clifford Beasley and his wife listed on the Hoover Dam Construction Worker and Pioneer Family data base that is newly available. I do not have the brother and his wife, however, and wonder if you have something that would place he and the Harman sister at Boulder City or Las Vegas during that time. If they were all there together, I would like to document that in the Boulder City Museum biography files - to do that I need your help. See my web site www.judithsattlerirons.books.officelive.com to see more about the project that is ongoing to honor the Hoover Dam workers and families.
Thanks,
Judy

Does anyone know additional information about Jacob J. Harman who married Marie L. Comstock in Meigs Co, Ohio, 4 Apr 1868? Marie died several months later at age 22. She is buried in White Oak - Scipio Twp. Cemetery. There are other Harmans buried there, including a J. J. and family. I have not located Jacob on any US Census.
