my fathers name was Geroge Washington Harp. was killed in chicgo Ill on are about 1953 .cant remember his mother name nor his fathers. but had brothers and sister her name was elsie Harp/sharpe.might still be alive but dont know where to find her. he had some step brothers to one named Henry Johnson.They lived in Knoxville Tenn.any help would be appreicted thank you

I was reading your post and realized there was a George Washington Whiteside Harp in our line. His mother, Mary Ward b1824 married Robert Whiteside. They had 5 children(one of which was G.W.). Robert W. died in 1848 in Cassville, Wisc. Mary remarried John David Harp b 1816 in Conneticut. They had 7 more children. It appears that the eldest ones took on the Harp name.
I would love to hear from you and see if there is a connection.

I was so happy to read your explanation, as my grandma had told us that our Harp line came from France and it was LaHarp prior to immigrating to the US.
My Harp line was William J. Harp B@1795 and Piara Parsons. Their children were John David Harp B1816 Conneticut, Eliza, Lucia and William Chauncey Harp B @1821 (m to Catherine, twin children Albert and Susan). John D. moved to Cassville, Wisc.
I don't know when this line came to the US, but if anyone has any info, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

My g.g.grandfather was John David Harp B1816 in Conneticut, moved to Cassville, Wisconsin and HE was in the civil war!!

I am very curious about your Harp/Ward family line. I also have the same. My g.g.grandparents were John David Harp B 1816 in Conneticut and Mary Ward B 1824 in England. She first married Robert Whiteside and he died at a young age and she then married John D. Harp. They lived in Cassville, Wisconsin.

I am related to a Sarah Harp who married a William Harrison. I am not suprised they were Clinkenbeard, i thought they were cousins to Henry Clinkenbread. Do you have a roll number or proof that Sarah was a clinkenbeard rather than a Harrison. It would sure help prove indian hertiage.

Frances had a son, George A., b 15 Oct 1872, MI, who used the surname of GRAHAM. Obviously, he was born before Frances & Thomas married so: 1) Did Frances have a son out of wedlock? or 2) Was Frances married to an unknown HARP and therefore would have had a different surname?

My husbands family lineage is the son of the above mentioned parents.
William Thomas Harp born March 6th, 1804, Granville County, North Carolina and died January 9, 1874, Cassville, Barry, Missouri.
He married Mary Jane Workman born 1804 in North Carolina and died 1873 Madison county, Arkansas.
One of their sons, James Thomas Harp born August 18, 1826, Warren County, Tennessee, and died About 1868, after being bushwacked in Arkansas.
married Martha Jane (Mary) McGinnis born 1824 in Illinois.

I am researching the Manning Harp line. I have a Manning Harp in Monroe Co., AL in the early to mid 1800's and wonder if he could possibly be the son of Manning Harp of Virginia. Please advise if you can share any further information on this family. They are a very elusive family and I'm sure there is a connection somewhere waiting to be found.

I'm related to William and Charlotte Harrison Harp through two of their children, Sarah Frances who married John Witten Bilyeu and Salina who married Martin L. Cecil. Because of this, I have quite a lot of Harp in my veins.

I am trying to confirm a list of William and Charlotte's children. I'm also very familiar with the area around Eureka Springs. Both of my parents were born in Christian Co., Missouri

This is not our family line but I did find this info.

I have Wyoda's mother Elizabeth Jane WOOD married 4 Nov 1872 Henry Co., KY to James William HARP.

Wyoda was apparently married twice, as was Oscar and different people are listed as spouses on their death certs.
Spouse 1 Oscar PORTER (spouse 2 as Bertha Porter)
Spouse 2 Robert J. HOLLOWAY (according to death record)

Does anyone know of an Annie Harp from Kentucky? She married Jasper Ross Roach on Aug. 19, 1902 in Russellville, KY.

She was my grandmother's mother, but she vanished off the scene when my grandmother was less than 5 years of age and JRR let her be adopted by another family. JR Roach married several times and we don't know if he divorced Annie, killed her and hid the body or what :-)

Does anyone have any information on Nancy (Nannie) Harp born dec 1882 in KY? She married Ashley Miller on 4/24/1902 in Campbell TN. They had 5 children Effie, Gertrude, Martha, Vergile and Dola.

I believe her father was J Matterson(Madderson)Harp born about 1858. Her brothers would be James 1886 and Robert 1881. In 1900 they lived in Black Oak,Whitley, KY.

I was born in Louisvile,ky. My parents are Eddie N. Harp and Agnes Louise Mattingly Harp. Father was born in Glendale, ky. Grandparents are Coy and Violet Puckett Harp. Coy had a brother named Stoy. Joseph Harp and Jane Ellington were my GGG grandparents, they had a son named Francis Marion Harp who married Laura Lee Lingo. They had a daughter named Ida (who was named after Francis' sister Ida that you mentioned). Ida was my grandmother.

I am also looking for William Clinton Harp of South Carolina. This is not the first time I have run accross this Pleasant Harp name. Could it be possible that William could have been born in 1844 instead of Sidney? My William Clinton Harp was born in 1844. His father died when he was quite young and he was raised by a very mean uncle. He ran away and joined the confederate forces and was captured and put in prison in Ohio. I have been looking for his family for many years any information would be wonderful.

I am looking for information about Wyoda Bell Harp (b 10/1883). I believe James M. Harp was her great grandfather. I am trying to confirm the identity of her parents with historical records. Unfortunately she was born after the 1880 census, the 1890 was lost and she was a boarder in someone else's home in 1900. Her death certificate lists her mother as "i brown".

Henry Harp of Ulster Co., NY, and Germantown, PA

My ancestor Henry Harp, married in Ulster Co., in 1756, stated that he was born in Germantown, PA. I know there were a number of places in PA called Germantown. Does anyone have any records of Harps in PA at this time?

It appears that he also had a brother Petrus and possibly a sister who show up in the baptism records about the same time.

Also, the sponsors at one of the baptisms were Abraham Harp and Elizabeth Harp, who are not found anywhere else.

Any leads would be appreciated.

He married his wife, Elizabeth Harp, in Berks County, PA., May 10th, 1801, and the majority of his years thereafter was spent in the vicinity of Boyertown. He was a carpenter and joiner, and in politics an active Democrat. He died December 30th 1854, and the death of his wife occurred February 19th, 1875. William Harrison Harp was my great great grandfather. My mother's maiden name was Judith Harp. Her brother William Harp had found an article on William Harrison Harp (1839 - 1904) with parents James Harp and Olive Scarborough. It's a really good article. I've also found other information on other websites. Let me know if you are still interested.

Note that Richard H was not his father. That reference comes from material submitted to the 1933 history of Macon county GA by my late grandmother. She was indulging in some wishful thinking, I fear. Have researched Richard and there's no evidence he was father of Dixon.
