I recently obtained a number of old newspaper articles from various counties in Illinois. Unfortunately most of the articles do not have dates (most likely from the 1960s).

"Vern J. Harrell, 63, of Xenia and former railroad employee, died June 23 at 6:30 p.m., in Clay County Hospital.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys; a son, Clelan of Marissa; four brothers, Herbert of Rinard, Rufus of Orchardsville, Burl of Flora, and Flavous of Warrensburg; five sisters, Mrs. Lulu McGee, Kinmundy; Mrs. Natalie Hawkins, Phoenix, AZ; Mrs. Oma, Oakley; Mrs. Irma Burgess, Xenia, and Mrs. Beulah Burgess, Streator, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the Methodist Church in Xenia. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia."
