Re: Lilla Maud Lodge / Thomas / Harrington???

Hi,

It's amazing how emotional you can get when you find the death certificate of an ancester. Oh well, only in genealogy! Although, actually she would have been my grandmother had I known her.

Lilla (Lily) Maud Harrington (formerly Thomas, nee Lodge), died at 129, St Johns Way, Islington, N19. Notified by AF Maddren 'occupier' same address. Died of myocardial degeneration and senility. Ref #05c 670.

So, no sons, or daughters to notify the death? So can I assume that my birth father Christopher Henry Lodge Thomas and his wife Ruby (nee Ross) were both already dead; and that she had no further children with her second husband Alfred Harrington, b.1876, m.1917 in Islington???

Is anyone here related to these Harringtons? Expert help or advice would be much appreciated.

best regards,

RouX

I wonder if your Chauncey is the same person as mine. I have a Chauncey W Harrington b1835 in Batavia New York. I show he married a Harriet Fish (or Fisk). They had two children Sarah Ellen b1856 in Debuke, Iowa(my great grandmother) and William Henry b1857 in Michigan. I have wondered if perhaps Harriet passed away and Chauncey remarried Tacy and had Cora b1868, Nettie b1870, and Lyda b1872. I think Sarah met her husband in the Colorado area. Do you think this could be the same Chauncey?

Wife of George Harrington? (b. Sept. 1888 in MA; parents: Reuben Harrington, Emma A. Reynolds)

Who was the wife of George Harrington (b. Sept. 1888 in MA; parents: Reuben Harrington, Emma A. Reynolds)

I am trying to determine if Reuben Harrington and Emma A. Reynolds were the parents of the George Harrington that married Marie Bittig in 1910 in New York. I have a very loose match based upon a WWI record that shows that North Adams, MA was the birth place of the George Harrington who lived in Troy/Sand Lake, NY area in 1918. The George Harrington that married Marie Bittig lived in the Troy/Sand Lake area, NY in 1920. Reuben Harrington and Emma A. Reynolds and family (including a son name George) lived in North Adams, MA in 1900.

If you have any information about either George Harrington, that would help proof or disprove this possible match, it would be appreciated.

I would like to know if anyone has a picture of Arabella Deaver Harrington and if they would be willing to copy it for me? She was my great, great, great grandmother. I would also like a picture of her children, but especially that of Lydia (because I find her fascinating) and also one of John Walton (he was my great, great grandfather) when he was younger. I would love to hear from any of the Harrington or Deaver desendents.

James, William and Thomas Herrington in Duplin County, NC 1700's

James, William and Thomas Herrington on a tax list in 1783 in Duplin.

Thomas is listed as an adjoining land owner to Jesse Johnston in 1782 near Six Runs Creek.

William and his wife Philibus or Philiber? sell land in 1784 which adjoins James Herrington on the South River. The deed states it was a land grant to William but doesn't give a date for the grant. He sold this land to Solomon Magee. James Herrington was married to Elizabeth Magee (Mcgehee), daughter of William Magee.

James Herrington's children inherited about 2700 when he died about 1814, on the South River.

Six Runs Creek would be very near the South River property William and James owned.

There is no further records for William or Thomas (as far as I have found to date) in Sampson/Duplin Counties. I have not found where Thomas sold his land or bought it, for that matter.

Does anyone have a clue who these men are? I wondered if William could be the William in New Hanover in 1786.

Trying to figure out if they are brothers or if one of them is the father of James.

There are also a few records for a Joab Herrington in Duplin, don't know anything about him, either.

Thanks for any help,
Renee Newman

Harrington family North Carolina

I have been researching James Herrington who was in Duplin and Sampson Counties. He is my ancestor through his son Stephen who moved to Mississippi.

In a census (or tax?) record in Duplin 1783 James, Thomas and William Herrington are listed. I don't know anything about William or Thomas after that.

Does anyone have an idea about these three men? I do not know where James fits into the Harrington family.
Thanks for any clues!
Renee

Gina - the bottom line to your question is I don't know, but I would sure like to explore this more with you, as there might be connections from more than one surname. I have Harringtons, Minihanes and Connollys in my family tree.

Harrington: have the connection mentioned in my original post, but also have Harringtons from Lisheen, southwest of Skibbereen who married into my Walsh family.

Minihane: My two Margaret Minihanes were born in 1823 and 1865, so those dates don't mesh with yours. There was/is a group of Minihanes from around Baltimore, southwest of Skibb that are my Minihanes. There's also a group from west of Skibb - probably distantly related, but don't know how. Gortnaclohy is kind of in between.

Connolly: my gr gr grandmother was Margaret Connolly, born ca 1810. She married Jeremiah Walsh of Skeagh - 6 miles northwest of Skibb.

In your family tree, who was from Gortnaclohy?

In the early 1800s, there was a Connolly family that lived in Abbey, very close to Gortnclohy. It has been said in our family, that Margaret Connolly might be related to the Abbey family.

Please contact me offline at barbwalsh49@gmail.com
so that we can explore this further.

Barbara in St. Louis, Missouri USA

Harrington, Herrington, Hearnden and Harnden Connections

Hello All,

My name is Dan Harnden. For over 12 years I've documented every Harnden Line in North America, and have studied the possible origins of the family. For years I've argued that Benjamin Hearnden was strongly connected to the Harnden Line. The Harrington family stories even list a Richard Harrington (The Harrington Family in America Pg. 6) arriving in Charlestown, Massachusetts in 1643. The Harnden family line starts from a Richard Harnden. As a matter of fact our earliest American born Harnden was a Richard Harnden b. in 1648. His father Richard was the first white settler in the part of Reading, MA that was annexed to form the town of Wilmington.

Some proof of the Harnden and Harrington family line connections are now available through DNA. Over this past year a number of Harnden family members have been genetically tested. And, the results in the Harnden lines are almost all identical. However, a nice side effect of this testing is that the Harnden family is also matching very closely to a number of Harrington and Herrington descendants.

I know almost all of the Harnden family connections intimately, however I don't know the Harrington lines as well. So, I am submitting this querry to the Harrington Forum.

I'd like any of the following individuals or family members to contact me:

Walter Howard Harrington
Elizabeth Herrington
James Nelson Harrington
Jonathan Avery Harrington
Henry Frederick Harrington

My direct Email is daniel_harnden@yahoo.com

I'd like to know if they are descendants of Robert Harrington or Ben Hearnden, or both. Either way we all benefit from this study. In addition we may finally discover are mutual earliest origins in America, as our names don't match in the soundex. And, both sides have extensively studied independant name spelling variations.

On a side note I also descend from Benjamin Hearnden through my paternal grandmother.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

Sincerely, Dan

Hi

I have the name Lilla (Lilly/Lillian?) Maud Lodge on a marriage certificate: 1905, m. Christopher Henry Thomas in Wandsworth, London. Also on Christopher Henry Thomas' Death Certificate dated March 1909.

I can find NOTHING on her before, or after, these dates.

I don't even know if she was born a Lodge! Perhaps she was briefly married to a Lodge before she married Mr Thomas?

I have just found another possible marriage LILLA THOMAS to - ALFRED HARRINGTON in 1917. Is this the same woman?

She COULD be my grandmother. Can anyone help?

regards,

RouX

Riobard O'Dwyer is part of an email list at rootsweb called the Beara List. All of you will find many contacts and he is still selling many of his books. I recently purchased the Bere Island edition.

My O'Sullivan's are from Bere Island as well, though no Hannah's that I can see. They are listed on the 1901 Irish census as Sullivan which was quite a surprise to us!

Read an old post from you on Ancestry.com. there is a mistake in this info. this James and Jane is another family that often gets mixed up with James and Jincy, as Both Penelope and Jincy usd the nickname Jane and both families were in anson county,N.C. at the same time . James and Penelope (jane) moved to Tenn. and James and Jincy stayed in Anson County.
