In sincere thanks,I reply again.
Yes I have form SS-5, that was issued for a SS#, on Dec. 2,1936, making Sr. 41. It states Samuel "Travis" Harris as Father, and Mary "Travis" Jamerson as mother, same as his death certificate. Neither of these people can I trace, and being from Va. and quite familiar with the Buckingham area, find this very puzzling.
Done some census searching but come up empty handed. I have his SS#, but it hasn't gotten me to his father or mother and without that I can not submit app for the DAR in the Harris name that I want so badly.
Actually the same goes for the Martin, Cumbie/Cumby family names.
It's as though an entire generation disappeared.
And lastly, making my search harder is, that Buckingham Court house burned to the ground and records are gone, so somewhere, somehow, someday (if I live that long) some one will have a key to the lock. :'(
GOD bless all of you that are trying to help me.
gloria Harris
