You might look into the variant spelling as "Harries".
From my ongoing research into land grants in this area, I note that 'Harries' was an adjoining property owner to Nathan Hall on Little Sycamore Creek, in 1826. The survey was made in Sep 1825, so this 'Harries' was already on Sycamore Creek at that time.
Don't know if this is the same person, but a John Harries [same spelling !) was a landowner in Franklin County in Aug 1791. He might have been the father of the Harries, or an uncle to the Harries in Patrick Co in 1825 ?
The land was on the dividing ridge between the Waters of Back Creek and Waters of Magoty Creek. This would be quite close to the "Carolina Road" where a number of German names are observed in this area.
Hope this helps. Now a question for you -- do you have any information on this Elizabeth Welch, who her family was, age, etc. at time of their marriage ?
