I am looking for any information about my Harris Family.
William M. Harris- (6/4/1810-9/4/1882) In a Michigan census he is listed as being born in New York. His parents were born in England. William moved to Malden TWP Essex Co.,Ontario, Can. He married Ruth Lockhart. They had a son James (7/1/1836). He then married Christine Angeline Gee Campeau (1824-1913) They had seven children:

Joseph-(1846-1907) Canada

After William M. Harris died, Christine moved to West Plains, Missouri and is in 1900 census as widowed.

I too am very interested in this Harris family.I have an Allen Harris who in a Jersey Ill. marriage record lists his parents as Will Harris and ????Monday.He married Nancy Rose.Also Martha Harris married an Alfred Rose in Robertson county.In 1860 both Allen and Martha's families are in Carroll Co. Missouri.Allen lists his parents as being born in NC and VA same as these Harris's.There is an 1807 marriage record in Virginia for William Harris and Tempy Monday.Trouble is there is another William and Tempy Harris in Indiana? which may be them.
The Jersey Ill and Robertson Co. connections are interesting
Tempy's age could be wrong in 1850(not that much of a stretch)
Have you learned anymore?

Hi A J Harris was one of five husbands my grandmother had. together they had nine children, Andrew's children were Florence and Ed, together they had two children Laura Lee, and Sarah Allie my grandmother. I know Andrew and Sarah took all the children to Gunneson Colorado. that is all I have except a picture of him.

John P HARRIS married Matilda Helmandollar 06 Dec 1854 Mercer, Tazewell, W VA. They had 13 children. By 1880 census they were in Mo. One son Robert Lee Harris married in Fulton Co Mo in 1904.
My husband's line is through the 4th child Abraham HARRIS b. 23 Nov 1861 who married Mary Catherine BLANSET in Lone Mt Claiborne Co TN. They had 6 children and were in TX by 1910 census. Thomas Jefferson HARRIS was b 24 Jul 1893 in TN and married Annie Bradshaw in TX. Annie had a sister Orie Bradshaw who married a Ted Shields.
Thomas Jefferson HARRIS and Annie had 12 children of whom #10 was my late husband.
We have not done the DNA test. My son is thinking about it.

Thank you but I don't think I'll get the father's name on the marriage certificate because John was a lot older than Annie when they were married and seeing as John's father was probably dead by then, I doubt he would be on the certificate. Are the father's names used because they're witnesses? Does it matter whether they've died or not?

I've got a lot of information on Annie already but not much about John. He was born around 1860 or 1870 (he was in his 50s or 60s when he married Annie), but I have no idea of his birthplace or the exact date.

I already have the birth date of Annie Hale and her parentage, so I'm not really concerned about her anymore. John is the one that interests me because of the potential Jewish heritage.

You should see the father's names - I have several certificates which show the names with (Deceased) after them and the husband's condition ( Bachelor or widowed etc)the wife's condition (spinster etc) together with the residences at the time of the marriage and the father's profession, even though he may have passed away before the marriage. You would also find the names of witnesses and the Registrar. and of course, where they were married.

I too have Harris in my family (Maternal grandmother) but as far as I know, no Jewish connection.

In the Oct/Nov/Dec quarter of 1923. Vol 1c Page 79. John Harris married Annie M J Hale in Shoreditch. Middlesex. You should be able to buy a copy of the marriage cert. (£7) from the online GRO with the above information and their father's names should be on it.

Hackney was a popular area of London with a large Jewish community. My mother worked there in the 1920's for a Jewish jeweller.

Hope this helps. I searched and found a Minnie Hale b. Hackney 1897 in the 1911 Census but if you are sure of her birthdate, this would not be your Minnie.

Picture found at an antique store in Az. 4 girls, back says tallest -me, next -Mildred, next - Eula, next - baby.

Then it says "bunch of nuts" girls are standing in front of what looks like an arbor?? and then Maud Harris.

Andrew Bunzan Harris is my gggf, his son James Andrew Harris resided in Weakley Co. TN in 1890 where he married Jemimah Alice Walker on 18 Nov 1890.

I am seeking information about Theophilus Harris baptised 10 Apr 1829 in Tetney, Lincolnshire UK. He married Sophia Slaney in 1854 and had a son, Theophilus Robert Oliver, born in Islington in 1856. In 1857 he was running a private school in Islington. In 1881 his son was living in Hackney.
The family may have emigrated, if so? to where. Any info will be gratefully received.

Emma Harris and George Erswell were witnesses at the marriage of my ancestors James Watson and Ellen McDonald in Halifax in May 1878. James was from Hertford, stationed in the Royal Artillery, he left Halifax with Ellen prior to 1883 for Gibraltar and then to India before returning to England.
