Thank you for your response and kind offer to share your research. I feel very certain that I do connect into the Timothy Hart line. Before I gather information on Timothy, however, I really need to get more information on George Hart to establish him as the father of Daniel Hart.

Hart is my mother's maiden name, and I've been at a brick wall with Daniel Hart (1824-1865) for 34 years. Perhaps I can eventually find a will or intestate record for George Hart and for Joel Hart as well. If by chance you run across any info on George Hart or Joel Hart that might help me, please let me know.

Here is a website that might help you with your research on Timothy Hart and his ancestry.
http://www.mv.com/ipusers/harts/family/harts/book/index.html

Thanks again.
In my research I have found a Joel Hart who is the son of Timothy Hart, my ggggg grandfather. In my research, Joel was born in Wallingford, Connecticut in 1766. I have limited info on Joel. I am currently in the process of working on my DAR application using Joel's father, Timothy as my descendant so have much more information on him. I would be happy to share what info I have.
Barbara

Hello and thank you for posting this. Please, call or email me as soon as you get this. My grandmother is Retha Mae Hart (George & Rebecca's Granddaughter). My granny isn't doing very well and I'd like to get copies of the photos as soon as possible if that's okay (I don't mean to seem pushy:-). Not only would it pick up her spirits to see them, but she could probaly ID most of the people in at least her grandparent's photos. I am compiling a huge book to share with family of the lines which include Hart, Maggard, Creech, Lewis, & Sizemore of Ashe, Leslie Co's, etc. and will be happy to share with you.
Sincerely,
Brenda Sellers
305-295-5550
brenda108@aol.com

Tho W Hart married Margaret Hardy 1858 Jasp. Co, TX

In search for Margaret Hardy (B. c 1837 AL), I found marriage record of a Margaret Hardy & Tho. W. HART 9 Sept 1858 Jasp Co TX. I am searching for Margaret, dau of James Hardy of Lauderdale Co, MS & AL. My Morris (Maurice) LINDSEY was her guardian (signed bond for Margaret 14 Jan 1847 Sumter Co, AL). She was with the LINDSEYS in 1850 Walker Co, TX census. Then we loose their trail. We believe it poss that Morris died in TX; therefore Margaret (being of marriagable age) may have married there. The only lead I can find is this marriage to Tho HART.

I find it interesting (but confusing somewhat) that in 1860 Jasp Co TX census the following were in home of Tho W. Hart (B. c 1832 TX): Elmira, age 13 born TX; Henry HARDY age 2 born TX. There is no "ditto" mark on little Henry's name line to indicate he was Henry Hardy Hart. There is one on Elmira's line indicating her surname was HART. It is poss Elmira is another name for the Margaret he married 2 yrs prior. We do not know a middle initial for our Margaret; it could be her??? Or did Margaret die & Elmira become a younger wife? I would "assume" per Elmira's age (if she's the second wife) the child (if he is Henry Hardy Hart) is from the HARDY wife. No leads on Thomas in 1870. He is found in 1880 Jasp Co, TX with wife Sarah E & no kids.

What happened to the Margaret who married Tho HART? Is Sarah E's middle name Elmira?? Are there any MILLS or LINDSEY connections to the Thomas W. Hart family??

Paula in MS

He married my grandmother in 1918, in Southampton England but had been married before (I have no names or anything about his life before he met my Grandmother).

He worked on ships as a steward travelling back and forth from New York to Southampton.
This was posted in our local newspaper...does this soldier sound familiar to anyone on the Hart board?
Did you find the brother of James Hart that was killed in the Rev.War? I have a list of his siblings and the only one that it could possibly be is Major Derrill Hart, but he is reported to have died between 1788-1790. His other brother was Maj. Benjamin Hart who died 12 Feb 1853. This is all speculation-not proven.

George Hart 1799-1861

Seeking more info on George Hart, born 1799 in Wallingford, Rutland Co., VT, as son of Joel Hart and Phebe Dallas. His first wife was supposedly a woman named Olive. He married 2nd to Mary Hudson, born 1809 in Ludlow, VT, a daughter of Solomon Hudson and Mary "Molly" Kingsbury.

George Hart was the father of 9 children: Daniel, Henry (married Jennette Hudson), Cynthia Jane (married George Washington Peavey Sr.), William A.(married Marietta Hudson), Almira, Augusta, and 3 other unidentified children.

The Gazetteer of Caledonia and Essex Counties, VT.; 1764-1887, Compiled and Published by Hamilton Child; May 1887, Pages 259-269 lists the following:
"Joel Hart came to Wallingford, Vt., from Connecticut, about 1790. Of his ten children, George married Mary Hudson, of Wallingford, and had nine children. During his younger days he was a peddler in New York state. Later in life he was a large producer of charcoal in Barnstead, P.Q. [Province of Quebec]. William A. his son, was born in Newark, Vt. in 1844. The family moved to Canada when he was seven years old, and lived there about seven years. His father died in 1861. In 1862, William A. enlisted in Co. C, 8th Vt. Regt. At Boutee Station, La., he was taken prisoner and carried to Camp Pratt, La. There he was kept seven weeks, and was then carried to Vicksburg, and after five more weeks was paroled. He married Marietta A. Hudson, of East Haven, and they have four children, Fred D., Edgar A., Cyrus L. and Frank W."

I have additional info on his children Daniel, Henry, Cynthia Jane and William A. I'm interested in sharing info with anyone who connects to this family.

Sorry Stephanie -

None of those names match anything I have. The Reuben Hart in my tree, that died at Bull Run, did have an uncle named Reuben as well so it was a family name.

That particular Hart family is relatively well documented once you go back to the late 1700's and early 1800's. You may be able to find something if you start back a little farther. Reuben's father was Stephen Hart, married to Elizabeth Scidmore (or Skidmore). Stephen's father was Jeremiah Hart, married to Abigail Pearsall. Both Stephen and Jeremiah should be easy to find information on. It was Stephen's brother that I am prtty sure was also named Reuben.

It is a scanned copy of the actual book, with pen drawings of Nathan F. Hart and Alvin R. Dunston.

Due to the way the scan and conversion is done it is not the best of copies but better then nothing none the less. I was fortunate a few years ago to have had a book to read via inter-library loan.

Richard Hart 5th gg grandson of Avery Hart.

Harts emigrated from Ireland to Daviess County, Indiana, to Texas.

My Harts appear to be a completely different line. Mine came to Texas, from Daviess County, Indiana. Michael Hart 11 Mar 1817 was born in Ireland and emigrated to the USA sometime in 1840's with his parents and sibilings. He married Johanna Berry. She was born Dec 1834 in Indiana. They had nine children in Daviess County, Indiana. Then moved to Texas and two years later gave birth to the younges Louis Henry Hart Jan 1881, who m. Cora Mae Stubbs. Michae and Johanna Berry's other nine children were: Mary H abt 1853 m. Bearman, Thomas J abt. 1857, James Dec 1859, Catherine "Kate" Nov 1863, John E abt. 1866, Michael abt. 1869, Joseph "Joe", Feb 1870, Matthew Apr 1877, Sadie Apr 1879 m George Sewell and then Louis. Louis and Cora's family's are the ones I have the most complete information on and they ended up in Tarrant County, Texas mainly. Maybe this gives someone a lead.

Hello GillMyron,
Thank you for writing. I've be at this now for something like 9 and a bit years and I'd heard that in the past.
I'd say we are related you seem to have all the correct names.
But I'm not sure whether to go along with the Joan and her crowd. What are your thoughts on that line, do you think we belong? They were Jewish at the time so were we. If I remember correctly they were Cohens and the earlier before Hart became the family name it was haCohen. As was common our ancestors anglicized their surnames.
Perhaps we could talk this through some more at rmbhart@gmail.com

Very best you and yours, Ray

Hi,

Don't know whether there is any connection, but my greatgrandmother was a Hart. I was always told that we were related to Joan Collins. I have found the line back from Joan and have the names Zalig Solomon Hart married to Mary Joel who I believe are related to my great grandmother Rose Hart from either in Austria/Germany not sure. When she married Joseph Kaufman they went to New York and then came to UK.

Hi Terry:
I was working on my tree some and noticed that you have Lena as a child of Moses & Hannorah Jordan. Lena was my Grandfather Edward Hart's mother (Lena Etta Foley Hart Burdick) not a child of Moses and Hannorah (who are the parents of Edward's wife - Marcella Patricia Jordan Hart). If that isn't clear, please let me know. Deb
