I am looking for any information on Emil Hartmann and his family. Emil came from Germany in 1906 to settle in Brookln. He lived with his cousin John(Jean) Heppel. John was married to Lena (maiden name may be Schmelke). John and Lena had 2 sons, William and Hans Heppel.

Later John left, remarried Anna Lobmayer aand moved to Newark, NJ. Emil then married Lena Heppel in 1919/NY and, as far as I know, Hans changed his name to Harry H Hartman, my grandfather. I also know John Heppel lists a brother-in-law in Brooklyn, named Heinrich Schmelke. Could be Lina's brother or John's sister married a Schmelke. If any of these names sound familiar, please let me know.
