I am taking a long shot at solving a family mystery. I am searching for Barbara Hartman who was born around 1829 in Germany. She came to the US and married John Brown (or Johann Braun) and they resided in Rondout, New York. She had six children: Barbara,Edward, Eliza, John Sebastian and Mary. Sometime around 1861 she disappearred. Her husband came home and found the children home but he never saw his wife again. He hired a private investigator who trailed her to New York City where the trail went cold. We believe she may have started a new family. Does this story sound familiar? Even though it's over 150 year old we want to bring Barbara "home".
