The deceased was a member of Gen. Slevin’s regiment (100th O.V.I.) and has been suffering with spinal trouble ever since the war, from injuries received while in service. Mr. Hartshorn lost his wife [Catherine (Kathleen?? WILLIAMS, KNULL] recently, and the affliction of that bereavement has added to his illness, and it is believed by Coroner Cullison and others that he came to his death during a fit or an attack of his spinal trouble. His body was taken to Perrysburg this morning for interment.
According to the Maumee Historical Society, the Court House in Maumee is now where the Library is located. 500 River Road That's between E. William St & E. John St Thomas stayed across from the Court House in 1851 Main St. Maumee, Ohio
Thomas purchased plots in the Riverside Cemetery in Maumee, but there is no record that they were ever used.
