Im doing a geneology project for my high school class. It would be really helpful if you could tell me anything about him. He was born in October 1929 and died on December 16, 1996. He lived in York, SC. He was married to Thelma Hartsoe (McAbee). I do not know anything else about him, but if you could help me, that would be just grand.

Jean Stewart, Daniel Moses Hartsoe was my gr-gr-gr-gr-grandfather, buried at Mt Rest Cemetary, Kings Mt. NCarolina, I will let you figure out how many gr/s I need. My Grandfather was John, son of Poley, son of Sylvanus, son of David, where I get confused is A David Hartsoe, I know has to be related buried at Trinity Lutheran in Vale, NC.....I remember Poley Carp Hartsoe well....am glad to see and hear from someone who has knowledge....My Dad was Alvin Sylvester Hartsoe, younges son of John Hartsoe.....I have been to Mt Rest Cemetary and have come close to finding his grave. I found a spot that had Hartsoe's resting places ,but could not find Daniel's, even with the help of a cemetary worker, either I did not look well enought or his grave is unmarked, tho the cemetary worker told me he had seen it numerous times....

Ms. Lovelace, I too, have found his grave, or monument: I first tried unscessfully about a year ago, Had the cemetary Super with me, he remembered seeing it, be we had no luck finding it...I went back, again, searched, and to my surprise, just as you describe, it was right under my Hartsoe nose.. thank you for taking interest in the Hartsoe history,,I am the (i hope i counted right) 8th Generation Hartsoe, gr grandson, of Pole Carp, Grandson of John, Son of Alvin, it may further intererest you to know, that David, son of Daniel, is buried near the W side of Trinity Lutheran, near the Vale Post office, near the chrurch wall itself. His marker is nearly unreadable, but he is buried next to his wife, who died a few years earlier (guessing on my memory, but close) in 1885 and he just a few years later but her name is spelled oddly enough Hartzoge. Also, just east of Trinity is Sardis Lutheran, hwy 10 W of Newton where Grandpa Poley, his brother , uncle Finley, as he was affectionately known to me are also buried. My Dads Mother, who died shortly after giving birth to my Dad, Alvin, in 1927, is also buried, she was the first wife of John, my Grandfather. I have found out that Daniel was married to a Hallman, but I have enough trouble delving into the Hartsoe lineage, and going the Hallman route is more than I can digest at this time, If I can be of any assistance, please contact me again, and if you would please let me know your relationship or interest in the Hartsoe...thank You for your interest,,,Ronnie Alvin Hartsoe Newton, NC, formerly of Vale, NorthBrook section..belong to Mt Vernon Baptist, and to my surprise after marry into that section, that a younger brother of John, Albert is buried in that cemetary, whe passed in 1955, and I must say, in this age of my life, I did not know him, as I was born in 1952...so again thanks, hope to hear from you or anyone with info.....

Hi Ronnie,

Daniel Hartsoe and Martha Emeline Hallman were my great-grandparents. Your ancestor (I won't try to figure out the greats) Sylvanus married Martha Emeline's half-sister Margaret. I probably have more info about the Hallmans than I have for the Hartsoes -- please contact me if you're looking for anything in particular.

Jan
P.S.
I tracked down Daniel Moses Hartsoe's grave in Mountain Rest Cemetery today. If you go in the main gate off of business 74 (Kings Street), to get to his grave turn right at the first road, then take the first left. If you stop in the curve, you can see his grave. It's a small obelisk that obviously has some age on it. The inscription reads "In Memory of Daniel Moses Hartsoe" with dates and "husband of Martha Hallman".

Trying to find the parents of Sarah Ann McFarland who married William James Hartsoe in Greene Co. AR in 1855 and her sister, Mary Jane McFarland, who married Archie Newton Hartsoe in 1881 in Greene Co. AR. Anyone have any pictures of Sarah or William? Their daughter Maggie who married John Franklin Thixton in Greene Co. was the mother of my grandfather, Isaiah Thixton. The Thixton family followed Maggie's sister, Mary Harrison Hartsoe Newberry, and her family who moved to Trent, TX before in 1896 with Maggie dying there in 1903.

Searching for a Mary Hartsoe (unsure of correct spelling) who married a Samuel Russell. Only other info I have is at least two sons, one William, I believe, who married an O'Daniel woman. The other son was Noah March Russell dob 1 Mar 1882, possibly in Western Grove or Walnut Grove Arkansas.
Anyone knowing anything please contact me at
Kazarene@aol.com
Thanks Good Hunting,
Judy West
