Debbie,
I believe Silas Hartt was the Grandson of Charles Hartt--who was from Kentucky and married a local woman in Taos, NM in around 1849. He was also older brother of Squire Thomas Hart--who arrieved in Ranchos de Taos to be a horse trainer for Lucian Maxwell. A big land owner in that part of the country during years from 1865 to about 1873 or so. Both Hartt brothers were good friends of Maxwell and Kit Carson. I believe I have somewhere in my papers the Census report 1900 that I believe shows Juleanna Hammer and Silas Hartt. I will double check, if you like. All the names fit and were used over and over in each generation of the Hartt families. Helen
