I am looking for information on Friedrich Heinrich Hartung. In January 1888 he was the head of the German Shoemaker's Union in Hadersleben or Haderslev Denmark. My Grandmother was Conradine Nissen, she immigrated to the US in 1907 travelling on the Campania from Liverpool to New York according to Ellis Island records. She married Wilhelm Plohr of Suttorf Germany in Saskatchewan in 1908, he was a passenger on the same ship. Any information on her parents or siblings will be greatly appreciated.

Wilhelm Heinrich Hartung

I am searching for any information on Wilhelm Heinrich Hartung. He was born on 25 OCT 1898 in Magdeburg, Germany, married Charlotte Minna Blumenthal in January of 1929. They had one child. He remarried to a lady with the last name of "Unger". They also had children. He died 29 OCT 1984 in Berlin, Germany. Charlotte went on to live until 1994 in New York. We think that the separation had something to do with her family being Jewish, and can not find anything on them.
Wilhelm's father was Heinrich Friedrich and his mother was Friederika Luisa Schuetze. Charlotte's parents were Nathan Blumenthal and Clara Cohn. Nathan died in NY, NY in 1953 but Clara died in 1935 in Berlin.
Any information would be appreciated.

HARTUNG of Schuylkill Co, PA

I am interested in exchanging information.

I am not a Hartung descendant. The below are Hartungs that married into my lines. If you send me what you have on the below families "only", I will send you anything that I could add from my records. I am not interested in any ancestors of these families. I am only interested in the couple themselves and their descendants.

Schuylkill County, PA
--------------------------------
[164-8-5] James W HARTUNG (1845-1910) & Sarah A GERBER (1848-1915)
[88-3-1] Joseph HARTUNG (1827-1881) & Abigail BILLMAN (1832-1909)
[9-3-1-1] Paul R HARTUNG (19##-####) & Merle E KISTLER (19##- )
[88-8] Samuel HARTUNG (####-####) & Louisa BILLMAN (1798-18##)
[44-3] Lucy Ann HARTUNG (1821-189#) & John BILLMAN (1822-1905)
[36-8-6-8] Virginia R HARTUNG (1921-1990) & Salem T ZEHNER (1922-1990)
[352-3-2-7] Michael HARTUNG (1788-1861) & Anna M BILLMAN (1795-1856)
[36-8-6-9] Ethan HARTUNG (1924- ) & Elva M ZEHNER (1924-1986)

You must include reference number and what you have on that family and descendants only, otherwise I can not do the lookup and I won't know what information you are missing. The reason that tat is important and that I mention it again is that I have over 100,000 index cards with families on them. It would be too time consuming and difficult to send "all I have" or to look the above up all over again.

I am always interested in meeting new cousins.

Thanks.

bkunkel@postoffice.ptd.net
I am wondering how she is connect with my family and would be interested to know if anyone can fill in the pieces. The census states that she was born in Indiana- I feel certain she is related, but how? I am willing to share all information I have (including pics) of Alexander and his son, Andrew. I also have his wife, Lucinda Mascher. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me as I don't check the boards as often as I should!

I have included all surnames that belong to that side- I have pictures and documentation for many of those ancestors.

John and Mary Ann emigrated to the U.S. in 1857 with their first child, Emma. They sailed on the ship Columbia and arrived in Baltimore. They then made their way to Dickeyville, WI by way of Chicago.

I would like to find any information on Philip and Magdalena, their parents, and especially any other children they may have had.

thanks, Chris

I am looking for any info on Charles Hartung born sometime in 1922. Maybe not born in Philly, but definitely lived there during the 1940's. He married my grandmother, Edna M. Miller (her maiden name), around 1943. He had a daughter, my mother, Edna Kathleen on May 11, 1944. I also know he was in the military. He or my grandmother filed for divorce in October of 1947. My grandmother is alive, but won't talk about him. Just trying to trace back the family tree to find out where that side of the family is from. Thanks!

Hartung surname, Franklin Co. MA?

I am researching Hartungs in Maine and found the information you compiled. I believe my Hartungs and yours are related. Elisabeth Hartung married Philip Ott in Deerfield (Franklin County), Massachusetts in 1859. I believe that Elisabeth was a sister of John Christian Hartung, but I am unsure how she came to Massachusetts and met Philip. Are there related Hartungs (brothers, sisters, uncles, etc.) in Franklin County, Massachusetts she might have been visiting?

Hartung, Adam, son of Conrad, died in WI

I have extensive information on the descendants of the 12 children of Adam Hartung, b. 12/18/1846 (Soden, Germany according to family) and Caroline Rauenbuehler or Robelia. All 12 were born after their parents' marriage in 1872 in Dunn Co., WI. up until the last in 1894. Children: Charles, William, George, Henry, John, Anna (m. Black), Laura (m. Black), Richard, Clara (m. Anders), Joseph, Frank, Thomas. Pepin, Pierce and Dunn Co. WI has a lot of these Hartung descendants.
Adam had a brother, William, same area, who had descendants, too. Also three sisters who stayed in New York after immigrating-- Frances, Mary, Elizabeth or Eliza.
Would like to know more about Adam's father Conrad or mother, Magdalena Finstra/Sinstra.
Please email at GVonBargen@aol.com.

John Frederick Hartung Sr. immigrant

We are searching for information on John Frederick Hartung who came to Wisconsin with four brothers, probably in 1850's. Came from Swartzburg, Sundershausen, Bavaria. For a time they lived in New Bremen, Ill. He was born 11 June 1826 and died 19 Sept. 1884 in Nashville, Tn. Anyone know anything about the brothers, or anything about the place in Germany? We know the names of John's children and grandchildren, mostly from Tn. and Ark. Please contact me if you know of any connections. Thanks.

Henry J. Hartung

My grandfather, Henry J. Hartung was born in Cincinnati, (Hamilton County, OH on January 10, 1888. His father was John Hartung, and his mother, Minna (Soelter) Hartung.

I believe he had two sisters. Their mother, Minna, died when the children were young, and their father, John, put the children in a Catholic Orphanage.

Henry ran away when he was around thirteen. One of the sisters died in early 1965 and left a small inheritance to Henry's children (my mother, and my aunt.) However, we never heard from or about my grandfather's family.

My grandmother told me that John Hartung had worked in a brewery, (or was a bartender), but that is the extent of any information I had.

Henry, my grandfather, died in October of 1954. There is a photo of a John Hartung, born in 1886?, on the family photo site of Jim Hartung's, which is remarkably similar to my grandfather, Henry. However, in my email conversation with Jim, he rather doubts a connection. Jim's family was in Baltimore, a considerable distance from Cincinnati. However Jim did mention that two male members of his family frequently changed their names, and that somehow, the family did not keep in touch with their relations.

If anybody has an idea of a link to their known Hartung lineage that would be pertinent to my Henry J. Hartung, I would appreciate hearing from you at glanzy1@aol.com.
