Keziah moves with the Bean family to Scott County, Missouri and later marries a Henry Wyatt.
William Grant married a Caroline Hartwick in Conway county, Arkansas and they also move to Scott County with my Beans..I think Katherine and Caroline are Beans girls..no documentation of this...the Grants have Ludusky, Celian, Jasper and Elijah..Elijah married Tempa Ann Hartwick and have about four children....does anyone have any info on the Koonard and Katherine and William and Caroline marriages...would like to document the maiden names of the girls..thanks, Faith Ann

G.W. Hartwick and his wife Josaphine Acre/Akre: Faulkner Arkansas

My gggrandfather is buried in Holland Cementary in Van Buren County Arkansas.
He was married to Josaphine/Joseyphene Akre/Acre when she was 17 and he was 23.
Then at 30 he married again to a Clemtine Mount.
Josie must have died young unless she was remarried. We do not know if she is buried in Holland Cementary also because so many head stones are just unmarked rocks.
They had my ggrandmother Margaret Rebecca Hartwick who later married Ernest Jones.

Josaphine/Joseyphene was said to be full blooded Native American (any help with this is appreciated).

They all lived here in a small area around Damascus, Guy, Bee Branch and Gravesville AR.

I need more information on both my gggrandfather G.W. and gggrandmother Josie Acre/Aker. Any help is appreiciated. You can email me at: denise08_2000@yahoo.com

Hartwick family

I don't know if this will help if you don't know if they are Canadian residents in either 1871 or 1801 but you can possibly trace them through the Canadian and Ontario censuses for those years and it is helpful that you have more than one family rmembers' name as that can guide you to the right household. Hope it helps

locating Ethel Hartwick

If you believe Ethel was alive in either 1901 or 1871 and living in Ontario you can locate her and her family on the Canadian census. it helps to know another of her family member's names as some people lived with their families and some lived out as household help or with a married brother or were counted in another family's census if they were living in a residence as a seamstress or temporary household member/guest/employee Hope this helps.

Hannah Hartwick Jerseyville Illinois

At the age of 45-50 widowed Hannah Hartwick bravely brought her 9 children from Princeton, NJ to Jerseyville, IL to start a new life about 1851. Hannah's daughter Elizabeth married Samuel Robbins who died in 1859. She later married Samuel King, a civil war veteran and they moved to Miami County, Kansas. I'm trying to find out Hannah Hartwick's maiden name. I think it may be Woodhull because her first son was Alfred Woodhull Hartwick and there was an Alfred Woodhull in Princeton in the early 1800's. I'd love to hear from any Hartwicks or Robbins, particularly from the Jerseyville, Carrollton area.

Hi Craig,

I know it's been a while, but am hoping you are still active on this line...
I just recently found that I am descended from "Koonrod Hartwig". Conrad HARTWICK, Jr. born 1755 in Mecklinburg, NC is my 3x Gr-Gr-fa.
Some of the Hartwicks lived in Conway Co. in the 1860's & it is my understanding some are buried in HOLLAND Cemetary in Damascus, AR. Since Damascus is just above Guy, AR. are you familiar with this cemetary. I plan to visit the cemetary at the end of May & need good directions. ( I am sure I will be able to get them once I arrive)
I have seen the Jacob you mentioned with the middle name of "Bedford".
Any more info on the Hartwick's ?
Sincerely,
Charlotte (Harris) Beadles
near Atlanta, GA.
I am seeking information on Ada Jane Hartwick who was born 17 June 1871 in Worth Twp, Sanilac County, Michigan to parents Charles Hartwick and Rosetta (Sly) Hartwick. She married Edwin Cornwell 31 May 1894. When she was 11 years old she lived on a farm with her parents on the Black River and survived the Great Fire of 1881, but which damaged her eyes and she was destined to wear glasses the rest of her life. Ada Jane was not mentioned by my other source on Charles Waters Hartwick. Ada's and Edwin's children were Rose, Emma, Frederick Ara and Nora.

Keziah/Tempa Hartwick/Cagle b. Tenn ~1826,

Keziah Hartwick, dau of Tempe orTempa Hartwick, no idea of Tempe's maiden name, don't know who father is. Tempe may have been married to Coonrod Hartwick. Later married Elijah Cagle, Justice of the Peace for Ripley Co, Mo.
According to several censuses, the Cagles and Hartwicks seemed to have moved together, Ripley co, Mo in the 1850's, Conway Co, Ark in the 1860's. Keziah's eldest son, William P Sullivan may have married Mary Mitchell 6/7/1888 in Conway, Ark, according to LDS.

1860 Conway Co, Ark census shows Keziah is married to Jonathan Sullivan and 4 children, William P 10, G W W 7, Tempa P 5, and Jos or Jas R 1. Jas may be James. Keziah listed her parents as born in Tenn. Jonathan Sullivan listed himself and parents b. in Ky. Jonathan died in 9/1863 on furlough from the Merric's 10th Regiment, Ark.

1880 Boone Co, Ark shows Tempe/ie Sullivan married to Alexander Graves and Tempie Cagle, grandmother living with them, T. Cagle is listed as born in Tenn, as were her parents.

Elijah Cagle married Jonathan Sullivan and Keziah Hartwick in 1844, Ripley Co, Mo. She died in Oklahoma after 1910. The 1910 Census shows her (as Czar Sullivan)living with dau. Tempie Sullivan Graves and husband Alexander Graves. On Tempie Graves death cert, her mother is listed as Kezzie Tipton. We haven't figured out where the 'Tipton' comes from. Could it be Tempe Hartwick's maiden name? Be Keziah's middle name?

any info appreciated. plz email. thx.. dea

C.R. Hartwick

My great great grandparents were Sarah Cossey and C.R. Hartwick (1840-1921). Both are buried in Independence County Arkansas at or near Batesville.

Everyone in my family believes C.R. Hartwick was Charles Rodney Hartwick. Supposedly, he was originally from New York but served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, eventually settling in Arkansas and marrying Sarah Cossey.

The real mystery is that everyone researching this line that I've corresponded with so far believes that C.R. was Coonrod R Hartwick, born in Lawrence County Tennessee. (I know Sarah Cossey was born in TN.)

C.R. and Sarah had several children: William, Mary Elizabeth Vanemburg, Martha, David, Amanda, Jacob, Charles B. (my great grandfather), and Rosie Driscoll.

Does anyone know the dates of death of any of theese children? If I knew the dates of death and the county where they are buried, I could send for their death certificates from the state and hopefully one of those would identify the father as Charles or Coonrod. So far, none of the documents I've uncovered on C.R. identify him as Charles or Coonrod, only by his initials. Any help solving this mystery would be greatly appreciated.

Peter Hartwick/Sarah Miller of Ontario

This is about my connection to the Hartwicks/Millers. As the story goes, the Miller family, originally from Germany, came to London, Ontario, Canada about 1801 ( I believe they may have come to the US first and then to Canada as some of the census say my ggggrandfather Miller was born in Conn. abt 1800. Anyhow, the Miller's had three children Mary, Adam, and Abraham (my ggggrandfather), a daughter Sarah was born after they got to Canada and then a son Joseph.

When Sarah was 18 (abt1820) she married Peter Hartwick, also of London, Ontario and they had six children Mary (Polly)b.28 Nov 1825, Daniel b. 5 May 1831, Lovina b. 1836, and Charles, William, and Peter. The father Peter was killed in an accident while cutting woodsometime in the late 1830's, afterwhich she moved to Mason, Ingham, Michigan where her brothers had moved. There abt 1840, she married Mark Jacobs and had three more children.

She later moved to Genoa Twp. Livingston, Michigan with her husband and three youngest children. Her sons by Peter Hartwick went out on their own at a young age, William dying young. Charles Hartwick married Mary Spear abt 1850 in Indiana They had one son Lorenzo C. b. 13 Sept 1853 in Indiana and they also raised Mary's niece, Martha A. Spear (my ggrandmother). Lorenzo married Maria Miller, the granddaughter of Abraham Miller and Martha married Ellis D. Miller, Maria's brother.

Charles and Mary Hartwick and Lorenzo and Maria Hartwick moved to Arenac Co., Michigan, around the village of Sterling and there they remained and are buried. Charles Hartwick d.23 Nov 1912 and Mary d. 20 Aug 1911.

HARTWICKS--IL TO MO TO IL?????

I am trying to find information on my grandmother's family. From what I have gotten out of my grandfather's bible is: Elsie Jane Hartwick b. 1/28/1884 in Southern Illinois. On their marriage certificate from Ironton, Iron Co., MO, it stated that she was born in MO. On her death certificate my grandfather gave this information: parents were: William Hartgrove and Emma Davenport. Anyway, my grandparents had 4 children and I have all 4 of the SS-5 from Social Security. All the children have different last names put down for Elsie Jane. Anything from : HARDGROVE, HARWICK, HARTWICK, HARGROVE. No wonder I am going out of my mind. I have not been able to find anything on her at all. 3 of the 4 children were born in St Genevieve Co., MO. By 1910, they were all in LaSalle, IL where Elsie died in 1921 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery off Rte 6. Does anyone have any connection to this family line?? Thanks

My father Paul James Hartwick was born on March 22,1913 at Cass City,Michigan. His parents were RuthEdward Hartwick.Paul left Pontiac,Michigan around Labor Day 1939 with a Maxine or Arlene or both.It is believed he went to California or some place out west.He left a couple months before i was born.I met his parents and the rest of the family in 1961 and stayed in touch by attending quite a few of their family reunions.Paul was gone until the fall 0f 1965 when he showed up at his parents at cass city,Michigan. They stayed only two hours. They spoke to his parents and two brothers. The conversation was tense and strained. His wife had just learned from Paul that he was living under an assumed name.Paul said he did farming for a little while , on to other type work. His wife said they had THREE DAUGHTERS.Paul wouldn't say what he changed his name to or where they lived. He said they had lived far away but now live much closer. The car had California licence plates, about a 1963 to 1965 Ford station.Paul said it was his brother-in laws car.No one thought to get the tag # off the car.According to the family no one has ever Paul again. My father could very well dead by now.I still have feelings and hold no blame or annimosity toward my father.Somewhere out their i have three sisters.I would like to find them.I would be greatful for any help.Maybe someone might know of a Maxine or Arlene who went out west with a paul from Michigan in 1939.

Thanks Everyone
Paul Hartwick

My address:
RT 1 Box 1730
Long Lane,Mo. 65590
My Email:
<a href="http://www.pauls@positech.net" target="_blank">www.pauls@positech.net
