Maria Dorothea Friederica Hartwig

My 2nd great grandmother, Maria Dorothea Friederica Hartwig, was born abt 1813 in or near Kleeth, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. A member submitted IGI record shows she married Johann Dethloff Friedrich (Fritz) Christoph Köppen 18 Oct 1834 in Kleeth and shows her father to be Johann Hartwig. I have not been able to locate her in the 1819 Census to verify this information and find out who her mother might be nor can I locate a record of her birth in the IGI. Can someone help me with this.

Mel Male, Solana Beach California

Hartwig, August born Massow, Stargard, Prussia

My grandfather was August Hartwig, born August 14, 1855 in Massow near Stargard, Pommern, Germany/Prussia. He died march 10, 1916 in Odessa, Minnesota, USA.

I have found two possible matches for when he came to the USA. One could be in 1870 with father Carl, Mother Christine, and siblings Albertine, Carl, Ferdinand, Albert and Gustav. The could be with father Johann, mother Maria and
siblings Johann, Herman, Ferdinand and Wilhelmine. In both cases the families first went to Wisconsin.

My August Hartwig married Francis Maria Semrau on December 15, 1887 in Odessa, Minnesota, USA. Francis Maria Semrau was born in Pagelkau, Schlochau, Prussia/Germany. She came to the USA in 1873 with her parents Martin and Edmunde Schnasse Semrau. Francis had 9 siblings: Theodor, Elizabeth(Lissette), Emilie, Lucia, Clara, Alexander, Bertha, Agnes and Rose. Theodor, Elizabeth, Francis and Eliz were born in Prussia and the others were born in the Odessa, Minnesota area.

If you have Hartwigs which may "connect" with my Hartwigs I would appreciate hearing from you.

Floyd Bohn

My August Hartwig married

Carl Hartwig

I am looking for the descendants of a Swedish family, Carl and Karen Hartwig, parents of at least two daughters, Eva and Elsa. They lived in south Minneapolis, MN, and when they bought a house in 1920 I believe Carl was about 50 years old. I now live in that house and have found a letter from Eva (I believe; the signature page is missing) written in about 1935 (the date is only given as "Saturday, March 26" and other clues lead me to believe it is 1935). I would like to return the letter to members of the family because it contains some wonderful details of their life. I have run into a brick wall trying to go forward from Carl and Karen. Carl died August 1941 and Karen, I believe, died in 1953. Their obituaries do not identify children, so I don't know what happened to them -- married names or where they lived. Can anyone help? Thanks!
Wendy

I've an original carte de visite photograph of “W, Hartwig”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was taken in about 1865-1870, in Lockport (Niagara Co.) NY and William looks to be about age 18-20.

I found William Hartwig in the 1900 census for Niagara Falls (Miagara Co.) NY. His DOB is listed as Jul 1847, and he was age 52, born in Germany. Wife, Minnie, was age 43, and living with them were children, AND his mother Wilhelmina, age 85, with DOB May 1815 Germany. Immigration data on that census shows that mother and son arrived in 1854.

Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to William Hartwig.

Hartwig family in Mecklenburg

There were a few Hartwigs in Tempzin and Brüel parishes in Mecklenburg-Schwerin between 1800 and 1850. There was Maria Dorothea Hartwig who married Johann Friederich Timm, Christian Hartwig who was probably Maria Dorothea's father, Johann Carl Christian born in 1827 and married in 1857. Does anyone have any further connections to these people?
Hello. I am trying to locate information on my great-grandfather Albert Hartwig b. 27 Mar 1889, d. 19 Oct 1977. He was married to Mary Heigel (sp) around 1910. They had three children: John Franklin, Kenneth and Albert. I believe his brother was Clarence. If anyone has any info on his parents I would greatly appreciate any help. I cannot locate any info past the 1930 Schuylkill County Census

Thanks
Debbie Busch

Henry HARTWIG Sr born 1873 in Crimea, died 1908 in probably North Dakota. His wife was Elizabeth RUCKHABER/RUCHAUBER (Henry was her first husband; #2 was Johannes BOECKEL & #3 was Johannes LAUBENSTEIN) born 1877 in Crimea, died 1958 in Hazen, North Dakota. Their known children were: Bertha (ERBELE) born 1900 in Crimea, died 1984 in Bismarck, N.Dakota; Phillip; Albert; & Henry Jr. I have no other information about the three male children, nor do I have the names of Henry Sr's parents. However, the names of Henry Sr's siblings were: Christoff born 1858; Andrew born 1862; Mary born 1864; Gottlieb born 1866; Phillip born 1868 in Heilbron/Crimea, died 1915 in Bluegrass, North Dakota, wife Margarethe RUEDI; Daniel born 1872 in Russia, wife Wilhelmina Unknown; and Christina. I have some additional information about Daniel and Phillip but not on any of the others. If anyone has information about any of these individuals, I would appreciate hearing from you.

I was just in SLC on business. I took a few extra hours to visit the main LDS library. Very impressive! Off the tip of another list member, I looked in the Allgemeines Geschlechterbuch series. I can't read German, so I just copied everything I could quickly find. I tried to cut and paste the text into this message, but it didn't translate all the letters very neatly. How can I post the documents so everyone can see them?
William J. Hartwig -- Nebraska and Montana

Looking for information on the family of William J. Hartwig born 1861 in Germany). He emigrated to Omaha, Nebraska with his parents (names unknown) from Brugge, Germany in about 1869. He was raised in Omaha. In about 1879, he went by boat up the Missouri to Fort Benton, Montana, and then by stage to Helena, where he became a successful businessman. I know quite a bit about William, but nothing of his parents or family.
