Surnames: harz, hartz, von harz, von hartz
My hartz/harz/von hartz ancestors came from germany to the united states arriving in 1856. They proceeded to illinois and were in the schaumburg/palatine area to this day. They have spread out and i have relatives in a number of states. It is entirely possible that i do have relatives there however i would need to know whether the hartz individuals in indiana you speak of came through illinois first or straight from germany. If they came from germany i may still be related it would depend on where in germany. If you could be a little more specific about the individuals you are interested in i may be able to help.
