Iam searching for my great grandfather's family in Germany. The first info I found on him is in a book titled Marriages in Virginia 1830 -1850. He married Sarah Hicks Sept 13, 1844 I have learned in the census records up to his death in 1881 that he was from Hamburg, He was a tailor, he was elected the second Capt of The Virginia Rifles 1853 and resigned that post in 1856. They had four children and his decendants still live in Richmond.I Hope you can find him in your records. Thanks, Vera Newton
