A few things I have learned about Harveys while doing family history. NOBODY is related to the famouse British physician, William Harvey, as he had no children. Laurence Harvey and Paul Harvey adopted Harvey as stage names, not the real deal. Same goes got Domino Harvey, Laurence's bounty-hunting daughter. PJ Harvey, the British singer, is a real Harvey as were Les and Alex Harvey, now departed rock and rollers from Scotland. There is a rockabilly singer named Danny B. Harvey who currently is in an act called Lonesome Spurs. Bryan Harvey, American musician best known as part of House of Freaks, was murdered with his wife and two daugthers this past New Year's Day.

Harvey Road on I-95 was named after Lewis B. Harvey (buried at Chichester Friends) who bought a mill from Mr. Grubb, located on Faulk Road in North Wilmington. The first part of the road is still named Grubb Road and from Faulk onward it's Harvey.

Ronald Lee Harvey Sr.,
Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon, passed away at 4:05 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008, in the emergency room of UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 59.

Mr. Harvey was born March 27, 1949, in Greenville to John C. Harvey Sr. and Louella Cocker Harvey.

He graduated in 1984 with high honors from New Castle School of Trades with a doctor of motors, specializing in gasoline engine overhauls. He then continued at the school with a degree in automotive and diesel technology in 1985, making the dean’s list five times.

A mechanic, Mr. Harvey worked from 1985-88 at the former Stiver Chevrolet in Hubbard.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a private in the Vietnam conflict, earning a Vietnam Campaign, National Defense and Rifle medals.

Ron enjoyed making things with his hands and fixing tools, as well as fishing.

His wife, the former Debora A. Herman, whom he married Nov. 16, 1980, survives at home.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Christina Harvey, Louisville, Ky.; three sons, Ronald L. Harvey Jr. and his wife Sarah, Jeffersonville, Ind.; Mark and his wife Theresa Harvey, Louisville; and Michael Herman, whom he raised, Sharon; two sisters, Nancy and her husband Mike Myers, Masury; and Rose Jewell, Sharon; two brothers, the Rev. Charles Harvey and his wife Sharon, Masury; and John Harvey Jr. and his wife Barbara, Long Island, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Mills.

Robert Harvey is my gggreat grandfather. I am having a tough time finding him. He was born around the New York/New Jersey area in 1837. He married Margaret Mcafee (I think that was her name) and resided in the Red Bank, NJ area around 1870-1907. He had 2 daughters (Mary A Harvey born around 1856, Margaret Harvey born in 1864, and Rose or Rosanna Harvey, born in 1868) and one son (Robert Harvey, born in 1860). I am not sure that he had any other children. His daughter Mary A Harvey married Alexander Kingsbury (my gggrandfather) on Sept 17,1871 and had 5 children: Robert, Sylvester, Alexander, Isabelle, and Mary Kingsbury. I found Mary Harvey Kingsbury's obituary which says she died of heart disease in 1900. An article I found in the Red Bank Register told me that Robert Harvey died in 1907 of exposure. If anyone has any more information regarding this Harvey family from Monmounth County, NJ or these Kingsburys, please let me know. I have been searching for this information because I was told by my great Aunt Anna Corbisiero Merl (Isabelle's daughter)that my gggrandfather Robert Harvey is descended from one of the Mayflower families. She has asked me to find out whatever I can about our Mayflower connection. I am also trying to piece togther some other information I found about the Harvey connection to the Mayflower. Any help would be appreciated!!!

1910 Census - Hume A Giles is still in Danville and it says he is 32. He lives at 303 Gray Street. His wife, Annie J. is 24. It says they have been married 10 years (she was 14?) and had 6 children, 4 of which are living. The children are Eliza, 8; Charlie, 7; Lillian, 5 and Hughes who is 11 months. Hume is a salesman in a furniture store and owns his home.

1920 Census - February 5, 1920 - Hume & Annie are in Schoolfield Village (unincorporated) in the Tunstall District of Pittsylvania County. He is 44 and Annie is 36. Hume is a farmer on a truck farm. Eliza is 18 and a teacher in a public school. Charlie is 17 and listed as a farm laborer. Lillian is 15; Hughes is 10; Everett is 8 and Wesley is 6.

1930 Census - April 8 & 9, 1930 - the family is living at 195 Mt. View Ave. and Hume is a florist with a flower farm. He is 54 and his wife is 46. Hughes is 20 and a farm laborer. Samuel E. is 18 and a farm laborer. William W. is 16 and Hume A. Junior is 8.

Giles Florist is still in Danville & I assume the same establishment.

1930 Census - Charles is 62 and Maud is 43. Charles is the manager of a dairy and they live at 311 Pitt St. (or maybe Fifth) Charles W. Harvey, Jr. is 22 and "Staunton" Harvey is 19 and no employment listed.

In 1870 Martha E. married Christoph Ludwig Hermann Hanewinckel (Charlotte CO., VA MR book 3 p. 25) Most of these people are buried in Cub Creek Cemetary in Charlotte Co., VA. Is this John C. Ed was born 1883 aprx died 1925. i beleive they had 4 children. 1 died young others were william, alice and ann. I'm working on my wife's family history and have gotten to the point where her gr, gr, gr grandmother with the last name of Harvey was born about 1833 in Ireland. Her husband was Duncan Cattnach (or Cattanaough) born about 1835 in Scotland. They are the parents to Catherine (Cassie) Cattnach of Canada. Cassie was born in 1859. She married James Withrow. J. W. Harvey, a well to do merchant at Shawnee, has disappears and there is considerable speculation as to his present whereabouts. His relatives believe he went to St. Louis, but the police are inclined to think that his disappearance is due to foul play.

Here is the current update on the Harvey Y-DNA Project.

(The format of my original message is mangled by Ancestry's text editor but since I have not been able to post in a more readable manner for a long time now I am just going ahead with this the only way it can be posted.)

HARVEY Y-DNA PROJECT FACTS and STATISTICS : March 31, 2008

There are a total of 62 participants who have requested a test kit to be sent to them. Of these 62 potential participants 60 have paid the test fee and returned their test sample for processing by the lab.

40 members tested with 37 marker results received - four of whom have been upgraded to 67 marker test level.

5 members tested with 25 marker results received.

12 members tested with 12 marker results received.

In addition to the above noted 57 members who have paid and have had test results returned :

1 member has a 67 marker test being processed by the lab which is scheduled to be returned in mid-April.

2 members have 37 marker tests being processed by the lab which are scheduled to be returned in mid-May.

1 potential member has requested and received his test kit but has not returned it for processing at this date.

1 potential member has requested and received his sample kit but evidently does not intend - or is unable - to follow through with testing as he has had it in his possession for quite some time and does not respond to messages.

(1 additional potential member (female) has only participated as a mtDNA testee. She is making a diligent effort to find a male proxy for her Harvey line.)

Of particular interest is the fact that 15 of the male Harvey men tested have been sponsored by female Harvey researchers who have sought out and requested help from their Harvey menfolk. This means about 25% of our
test returns have been provided by our lady Harvey researchers. Thanks for your hard work in achieving this, ladies - I know finding a related "proxy" male Harvey is not always easy or simple to do. Good work!

As of this date we have identified 28 individual Harvey lines. This breaks down into 19 groups comprised of 48 members with matches and a holding group of 9 members/lines who have not found a match at this time.

This shows that about 67% of the tested Harvey project participants have found at least one significant match.
As the number of unique, separate, Harvey lines increases the odds get higher that any "incoming" individual tester will find a match.

Looking for the parents and siblings of John Harvey, b.1792,married to Mary Hurley. They had children William,John,Thomas, James Oden, Amelia Rebecca,Charles, Lucinda and Mary Elizabeth.
From what I can tell they lived in Montgomery and upper Prince Georges Counties in Maryland. Stories have the family as part of the pioneer families of the area. Don't know.

I am trying to find information on Joseph Harvey of Ridley Park, PA. He bought a mill there and married Mary Simmock. I would like to know if he is related to William Harvey who came over to Chadd's Ford, PA in 1712. There is a minor connection in that both Harveys have a connection to the Concord Friends Meeting, but I can't establish anything beyond that point. Any info?

He was the son of William Harvey, Jr. and the grandson of William Harvey, Sr. One of the William Harveys or both had lived in Northumberland County, Virginia. It is thought the one who lived in Northumberland Co. was a descendant from Onesiphorus Harvey who lived in Lancanser Co. VA in 1698 when a letter dated August 24, 1698 was posted at Plymouth, England and is recorded in the Deed Record book for 1651-1702. I have more of this story if anyone is interested. Marshall "MJ" Harvey Jr., 60, of Plainwell died Aug. 22, 2005, at Life Care
Nursing Center. MJ was born Jan. 2, 1945, in Plainwell.

Hannah married a William Matthew Young about 1830 and had 3 children: William Matthew (1835 in Nottingham)) Martha Sophia (1839 in Leicester) and Robert (1845 in Leicester). Hannah's husband William Matthew was a painter, but died prematurely somewhere between 1845 and 1851. Hannah lived until 1895 and died in Islington, London.

She was the second wife of Christian Frank. They were married on 22 May 1873 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hollidaysburg, Blair Co., PA. She died 4 Apr 1893 in Gaysport and was buried in The Old St. Mary's Cemetery in Hollidaysburg. Can anyone help me with any information on this person .
All the information i have is that he was born in Enland between 1900-1920 ? He had two brothers, his father was a school Master (teacher).
Dominic Harvey moved to America not sure what date, but he did send a photo of his then 4 children with the date 1/1/1953.
We were told that he moved to florida , but have since found an address in California but no date with it. Also and name Virginia (wife or girlfriend??).
Nobody in the family has ever heard from him since.
I would dearly love to know what happen to him and make contact with his children.

The handwriting for the Haring/Harvy surname is extremely difficult to read, but I was wondering if it might be Harvy. I suspect that Mrs. S/L? Haring/Harvy was first married to a Davis, and second to a Haring/Harvy; she possibly could be Izora Taunton, the widow of Vincent H. Davis who disappeared from Washington Co., GA records around 1825.

I can find no record of these individuals anywhere in LA after this 1850 census record, so I'd love to discover where they moved on to.

Searching for William Charles Zensz (born 1887in West Ham) may have changed his name to Harvey prior to war. Had half brothers who had Graney as their second name. LaCasse, Janet Watson Harvey

LaCASSE-Janet Watson Harvey LaCasse, beloved wife and aunt, Janet passed away at home September 23, 2007, of congestive heart failure. Born October 7, 1917, in Boston, Mass., she graduated from high school and Burdette College with honors receiving her degree in Business Administration. She was married to Paul L. LaCasse, a member of the West Point Military Band at New York. Janet retired from West Point Academy Athletic Office as the Assitant Athletic Dir ector after 33 years of service in reservations and ticket sales. Janet became a member of the NCAA College Athlectic Business Management Association and served for 25 years as Secretary/Treaurer Janet has twice received Distinguished Achievement Honors in the WORLD WHO'S WHO OF WOMEN INTERNATIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL CENTER, CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND. Also the Department of the Army, United States Military Academy at West Point New York, honored Janet, upon the occasion of her retirement after 33 years of service to the Federal Government with The Janet Watson LaCasse Day in the West Point Stadium at a special half time ceremony on the 01 April 1979 Home Coming Game. Jamet is survived by her nephew Andrew Nocas and nieces, Louise Ritchie and Pamala Jayne. Services will be held at Cabot & Sons, 27 Chestnut Ave. 626-793-7159 Pasadena, 91103. Janet will be interred in the West Point Military Cemetery. TODAY, October 2, 2007 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Pasadena Humane Society, 361 S . Raymond Ave, Pasadena, 91103.

Charles and Ellen Harvey - Schenectady, NY

From the US 1910 census in Schenectady, NY:
They were living with his parents, Hugh and Margaret Harvey.
Married less than one year.
Charles was 29.
Ellen was 23.

Charles' family moved from Syracuse, NY to Schenectady between 1900 and 1910. His mother's maiden name was Scallion.

Hugh and Margaret died in 1911 and are buried in St. Agnes cemetary in Syracuse.

I can't find anything on Charles and Ellen after the census.

I have come to a dead end very early on on one side of my tree. I am trying to discover more information on Edith Eva May Harvey born c1884 in Norfolk (I think). I know she married Harold Taylor on Aug 13th 1910 and died in Hillingdon April 1940. I would be very grateful for ANY information on her parents or siblings - all I know is her father was called George and was a 'Keeper' in 1910. Her address in 1910 was Cavendish Villa, Church Walk, Leatherhead

William Harvey was born in 1744 in Culpeper, Va. He later moved his family to Madison County, Kentucky. His children born in Virginia (William, John & Elizabeth) later moved on to Missouri at the time of the Louisiana Purchase.

I am looking for information on john harvey. I believe that he was a sheriff or police officer in the 1960's or early 1970's in or around gainsville georgia. any info would be great. I do not know if this person is dead or alive. I am trying to find the father of an employee of mine, she is 45 years old. I'm looking for information on James Harvey, b. abt 1803 in Ireland, and his wife Bridget, b. abt 1810 in Ireland. Both appear in the 1870 census in Philadelphia, PA. Bridget is listed as a widow on the 1880 census. They had a son Francis, who was born in Canada in either 1846 or 1855, and married in Philadelphia in 1880 to Martha McCafferty. I can't find anything on James and Bridget in either Ireland or Canada, and only the 1870 and 1880 (for Bridget) census in the U.S. Any info anyone has on the parents of James and/or Bridget, Bridget's maiden name, where and when they lived in Canada, any other immigration info, or any info at all would be most appreciated!!!

Looking for info on a Richard Harvey who was going to college in Des Moines in 1948-49. He would have been born around 1927-29. On the census records I find three Richard Harvey's in Iowa who would have been born 1927-29. The one we are looking for was going to school for commercial art. Not sure of any other family member names for reference. It is a long shot but if someone thinks this looks familiar, please let me know.

Seeking proof that Robert Harvey(b.30Oct1756) & Nancy Moore (m.26Sept1825) were the parents of Robert Breckenridge Harvey. He fought for the CSA & was KIA 20 Sept 1863.

Family tradition says that my ggggrandfather, Jonathan Harvey, was an English merchant seaman who emigrated to the US( Boston, MA) in the early 1800s. The first record I have of him is a marriage record in 1820 to Phoebe Aiken( she was much younger and may not have been a first wife)in Spencer Co., IN. He appears in subsequent Spencer Co., census records through 1860 but his birthplace is always listed as MA. I determined from census records his birth date to be around 1786-88. Does anyone have him on their family tree?

I am resarching the Harvie family history.

My starting point is Robert Harvie and Janet Mason. Most of the Harvies lived in Mearns, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Here are but a few names that the Harvies married into:
Dunlop / Pollock / Scott / Nicholl / Buchanan / Pattison and many more. Would like to hear from anyone that may have commections with the Harvies in Mearns, Renfrewshire and who know out of the many branches of this family I may strike it luck. Name in one of the Census changed to Harvey, just to add to the confusion.
