Classification: Query
Surnames: Hasenstab, Closson,
My mom died 1 year ago - and she never knew her father. This is the story that I was told:
His name was either Joseph Edward or Edward Joseph Hasenstab. Married Mable Closson in 1918 (approx) They had a son, named Edward Hasenstab. (Bud Hasenstab) My grandma Mable and Uncle Bud were living with her family. He was like 1 years old. The father/husband was not living there. ??? Where was he?
Now this is where the mystery begins: My mom was told that her father died in a plane crash when Mable (his wife) was 8 mos pregnant with her. Mom was born April 15, 1934. Her father on her birth certificate says Joesph Hasenstab.
In ww2, my Uncle Bud changed his given name from Hasenstab to Closson - his wife and children all with the last name Closson.
I keep hitting walls - I can't find my Uncle Bud with the exception of the 1920 census. He was 1 years old. Can't find him under Edward Closson either.
Of course I can't find a death notice for Father Hasenstab. I have no pictures of the man. My Grandma never talked about him. Did he abandon them? Does anyone know anything that could help. I see there are a lot of Hasenstabs in the Dayton Ohio area. I find that strange - yet no one knows of my mom, Patricia Hasenstab.
I just want to fill in the blanks - for me.
Thanks for any help or leads.
