Hello, I think we have been in contact in the past you kindly shared some info with me - I recently change my computer and accidently lost alot of my old research emails...so i am very glad that you have contacted me. I haven't contacted Jan direct yet.

The Haskews seem a very complicated line - i would love to find out why did they moved from worcestershire to london? and why did Edward Jarrett Haskew go to India? All his children, bar 1, were born there, with few of them coming back to England in later life. I have lots of questions but not very many answers yet...

thank you again for contacting me - its lovely to have someone to mull things over with

Kind regards

Forgive me if we've had prior contact - my memory isn't what it was.

I descend from Robert Haskieu (1722, Worcester) and his second wife, Ester/Hester Gum(m)ery, who married in 1758. I believe your line comes down through Robert's brother Edward (1723) and Mary Ashcroft. We've only just discovered the line that worked in Calcutta. We know that Edward Haskew and Amelia Rebecca Jemima (nee Hunt) had a daugher Jane Louise Jarrett Haskew who was a medical doctor and worked as a medical missionary in India with her husband, the Revd. Birkett.

Are you in touch with Jan Hearn in Queensland? Jan descends via Robert's first wife, Margarett Brown, and we've been in regular touch for over a year now, researching the Haskews.

I would love to hear from you, and apologies again if we've already made contact in the past.

Best wishes

Frances (Bedford)

He married a Lucy, maiden name unknown. They had a son, John Townsend Haskew, that married into my Langford family.
Re: Haskews in Australia

Dear Lane,
I am a direct descendent of Charles Haskew who arrived in Victoria in the 1880s from England. He remained in Vic for about a year before settling in Narrandera, NSW. He married my great grandma, Minnie Pamela Spencer and together they had many children. Those I can recall were Herbert, George Guthrie, Mary Cecilia (my grandmother),Emily.Bessie, Dorothy Charlie, Barbara and Walter. We kept in touch with some of them for many years but the only brother we knew was Uncle Wally who was a Police Sergeant at Cootamundra in NSW. His four sons all became schoolteachers.
Before leaving England Charles was working as a Surveyor at Hastings. At the time of the 1881 census his Mum (Mary Ann) was living with him while father and two other children, Selwyn and Mary were in London. Charles's father was a Clerk in the Bank of England. I have found that the children were born while the family were living in Liverpool.
Charles was born in 1818 in Westminster but cannot find details of his parents. Will keep trying and let youy know.
Kind regards Jan Hearn Tamworth NSW Australia

sdfHi- I share your interest in the Haskews of Australia. I have sporadic contact with a cousin in England who has some info that may be of assistance. I ;have established a web page about the Haskews of the world;see

http://www.fortunecity.com/millennium/bluepeter/680/index.ht...

With someones information, I would like to establish a page for the Austrailian line. The only other contacts I've made have'nt been answered from Austrailia. Originally the Haskews were Askews in England and were spread around by Britans colonizations. We were in India, Austraila, and the United States. The earliest line I have in the US starts 1696. I hope all is well with you. best regards, Richard
PS.My daughter has a good friend serving as a missionary in Melborne.
