Will of Jonas T. Hassinger, filed 28 Apr 1886

In the name of the Benevolent Father of All
I Jonas T Hassinger of the City of Galion in the County of Crawford in the State of Ohio do make
and publish this my last will and testament
Item 1st It is my will that all my just debts be paid including a fair and reasonable compensation
to those who take of me during my last sickenss. Also for my funeral expenses and that my
executor herein after named buy a suitable gravestone and place the same at my grave and that the
same be paid for out of my estate.
Item 2. It is my will that my executor herein after named sell my real estate for cash or on such
terms of credit as in his judgment seemeth best and deeds to purchasers to execute, acknowledge,
and deliver in fee simple.
Item 3rd It is my will that after my just debts are paid and cost of administration is deducted I
desire that the residue of the money be divided between my children William H. Hassinger, Sarah
C. Clark, D.M.L. Hassinger, Linda Humberger, Annette R. Collins, and Emma L. Hall Share and
Share alike.
Item 4 I do hereby nominate and appoint my son in law Frank B. Hall executor of this my last
will and testament hereby authorizing and empower him to compromise adjust release and
discharge in such manner as he may think proper the claims and debts due me. I desire my
executor to be governed by the advice and counsel of my friend J.W. Coulter in executing this will
and I do hereby revoke all former will by me made.
In testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of January AD 1886.

WILLIAM H. HASSINGER, druggist and grocer, Riley, is a native of Richland county, Ohio, and was born there March 7, 1834. During early life he was employed as cattle drover, and when the war broke out he enlisted in 1862 in Co. E, 79th Ohio Inf., and closed until the close of the war. He was engaged with his regiment at Chattanooga, and was with SHERMAN in his march to the sea, and assisted in taking Atlanta and Milledgeville. He marched with his regiment through Savannah to Washington, and participated in the review there. At the close of the war he returned to Ohio, where he remained until 1868, when he moved to Douglas county, Illinois. Leaving the latter place in 1871, he located in Vigo county, since which time he has engaged in the drug and grocery business. March 3, 1859, he married Miss Rebecca J. CASE, a native of Vigo county, born March 20, 1842. They have ten children, four sons and six daughters: Flora, Maggie, William S., Eugenis J. Edgar A., Nettie R., James H., Sadie, Samuel B., and one unnamed. He is well patronized in his business, and is building up a constantly increasing trade. He is national in politics.
