Mildred Atkinson Hastings, 82,
of New Alexandria, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, in Greensburg. Born July 4, 1925, in New Alexandria, she was a daughter of the late Cornelius Paul and Dorothy Eidemiller Atkinson. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She was the owner and operator of Atkinson's Dairy Farm. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Bud" Hastings, in 1997; and a sister, Bernadette Kell. She is survived by the following children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sondra Croushore and husband Ralph, Charles Hastings and wife Lucy, Cornelius Hastings and wife Barbara, Mildred Tavallali, Iris McCurdy and husband Dave, Caroline Marker, Bernadette White and husband Robert, Dorothea Stamm, Bucky Croushore, Chucky and Travis Hastings, Jim and Jessie Marker, Ian and Leeanna Stamm, Nathaniel and Anderson White, Drake, Nicole and Brooke Croushore, and Jeffrey, Bryan, Christopher and Mathew Farrell; sisters, Lavina Atkinson and Dorothea Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, in New Alexandria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. James Catholic Church, New Alexandria, with Monsignor Lawrence T. Persico as celebrant. Burial will be in SS. Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.
