Best I can tell you is my maternal grandfather's Hatch family arrived here in the 1700's. Used to here stories that we had some Native American ancestors but was never able to prove or disprove it.
My Hatch ancestors settled in south Jersey. And I recently discovered my g,g,g,g, grandmother's gravesite near Cherry Hill.

I have a problem with chasing the Hatch family from Stretham in Cambridgeshire. I have a John Hatch born about 1796 and his 3 daughters Rachel (1826), Elizeebth (1826) and Mary (1827). This is how they appeared on the 1841 Census.

I think I am related to the above Rachel Hatch who may have married John Seymour.

Can anyone give assistance here.
Don

Benjamin Hatch, son of Jonathan Hatch (who was the son of Thomas Hatch of Barnstable) was born in April of 1685 in Barnstable. Thomas had only one son, and he and Jonathan were the only Hatches in Barnstable at the time, that we know of. We don't seem to have any other information about this Benjamin other than a birth date. Where did you get your information?

I have been in search of my Hatch decendants. Wait Hatch had a daughter, Rebecca, who married Oliver Hatch. Their sons were Moses, Daniel Lewis, and Lemuel. I am decended from Daniel Lewis Hatch. Oliver married 3 times I believe. and Phebe Perry was his final wife. Daniel Lewis Hatch son was named after her, Daniel Perry Hatch, born 1830 apprx.
My question is. Do you have any info on Daniel Lewis Hatch and wife or wives? I only know that he died in 1874 in around Oil City, PA. Nothing on his wife who would be my Daniel Perry Hatch mother.
My PC, Vista, Norton or something give me a really hard time trying to get on to this message board :-(

I once found Mathew in Bethany Cemetery, Truthville, No. Granville, Washington, New York. Is this in your book?
The book was in the FHL in SLC. I copied the page, but that was years ago, and can't find it. I am trying to document my sources much better nowadays :-)

Thank you for the information.
Hello,

Yes, Henry wife Rhoda and Matthew Hatch are at the Bethany Cemetery, Truthville, N.Granville, NY in the Old Sect at the beginning of Row 2.
The book is " Granville Cemetery Inscriptions"
Washington County, New York.
Author: Margaret R. Jenks
Recorded: Oct 1991-May 1992-July 1992
Revised Winter 2000-2001
CopyRight 1993.

Margaret R. Jenks is the former Granville Town Historian she put in 40 years in that position retiring at age 65.
Then took up Transcribing all the local cemeteries, and she's still at it today.
She has since retirement done all the cemeteries in Granville and Vermont and is currently doing the cemeteries in Hartford, Washington, NY. She's a real go getter.

Margaret and I are good friends, I am 25 years younger.
She transcribes the headstones and I clean & repair them.
I will be up in Granville in July cleaning headstones once again, I live 300 miles away from Granville but make 4-5 trips a year back there to clean headstones.
My Northup's & Knowles settled the area of Granville in 1788,and remained there until 1920.My line traveled westward during the mid 1800's.
Am including a Pic of Granville that looks out upon Vermont, which is just 3 miles away from downtown Granville.
I will be at the Bethany Cemetery in July and most others in Granville if there is a Pic of a headstone that you'd particularly would like to have-I could get it for you.
I have found thus far in my career in the cemeteries, that those person's I don't find buried in Granville are buried at the Old North Hartford Cemetery in Hartford, NY., which is just 6 miles East of Granville. I will try to get a working copy of transcriptions of this cemetery from Margaret Jenks when I return.

Enjoy ~
Theresa Knowles-Northup Caparco.
Phoebe Hatch b. 1811 married Mathew McDowell d.1843

Hello,

Phoebe Hatch b. July 13, 1811 in Steuben Co. N.Y. d. Feb. 17, 1879, was the second wife of Mathew McDowell, d. 1843. I am trying to find out if Mathew was the twin brother of Isaiah McDowell, b. abt 1795 in Pennsylvania, d. 1882 in Millbrook, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Isaiah and his twin could also possibly have been born at Sea or in Scotland. Isaiah and his twins mother was Sarah Waddle and her brother was William Waddle. They were born in Ireland. The McDowell father of the twins is unknown. Sarah and her brother William arrived in Mercer County in 1798, from Franklin County, PA. "Sarah with twin boys about 3 years old" according to the History of Mercer County. I am helping a friend. The McDowell father of Isaiah and his twin, who the twin was, where the twins were born, and where Sarah Waddle was born and died has eluded him for years. Does anyone have any information about Phoebe Hatch and Mathew McDowell that would connect them to Isaiah McDowell.

Thank you for reading this long post.

Gladys Wright born about 1901 New York lived in California

I am seeking information about Gladys Wright and her family. She was born about 1901 in New York. Her father was Frederick James "Fred" Wright born about 1 Jan either in Canada, both 1872 and 1874 are listed on official records, and census records show as late as 1877. According to census records he was born in Canada. So far his first wife and Gladys' mother are unknown. Gladys had one full brother Earl James Wright born 1898 in New York, he went by Jimmy. She had five half-brothers. Gerald Houston "Gerry" Wright, I believe he married Delores Browning, I am in contact with their children, was the eldest of these. Her father was a self-employed shoe maker. Her step-mother's name was Kathleen Lenna "Kate" Petro born in Indiana. In 1910, Kathleen is listed as her mother. Gladys father and mother also sold snacks like popcorn outside theaters, before all theaters had their own snack bars and when one could take snacks in. They also operated food concessions stands at the California State Fair. My Grandfather Earl James "Jimmy" who was her full brother, lived in southern California and operated food concessions on the pier, then later moved to Sacramento. His wife's name was Marguerite often called Margaret. They also owned and operated traveling carnivals. Her brother Gerald was a meat cutter. Both her father and her brother served celebrity Hollywood clientele and were much in demand. Her father was badly injured in a fire in the 1920s and spent much of his time in a wheel chair.

My father was an only child. Gladys would have known about my dad's first wife Daisy and their daughters Teddie and Kitty, but perhaps not about his second wife, my mother Ardinelle "Ardie" and myself Susan or my sister Patty. Other people that she would have known were Art and Edna Swasey who owned a gas station in Sacramento, and Jimmy Cunningham who was my grandmother Marguerite's brother. For many years Ny dad's family, the Swaseys and the Cunninghams all lived in Sacramento, I think on 14th Street. She would have likely also known my grandmother's sister Ruth Cunningham and her husband Harold and their daughters Susie and Patti. Jimmy Cunningham's wife's name was Evelyn and their children were Tommy and Nancy. Gladys' other half brothers were Gordon Christopher or Christian Wright, Charles Hubert Wright, Frederick James who also went by Jimmy, so two brothers Jimmy, and Walter Vernon. One brother was a Disney Imagineer, and a world class expert on celuloid film.

I give all this detail, because someone out there has fragments of memories and information, and hopefully is looking for more, as am I. I am in contact with other descendants of Frederick James "Fred" Wright and would very much like to have a fuller picture for us all. Perhaps Gladys' family will know somehow, WHO WAS hers and Earl James "Jimmy's" mother, and perhaps some genealogy on that side. If you think any of these fits your family please feel free to contact me at creative52x52x@yahoo.com.

HATCH connections for an Olive b.1783 or Hannah b. 1784

I am researching the HATCH surname for a possible connection to my family tree. My ancestor Dorus Hatch "William" Norwood was born 15 March 1841 possibly in Millport, NY or Tioga Cty, PA to David Norwood and Mary Morse. His two grandmothers' surnames are unknown to me, and I think one of them could've been a HATCH due to his middle name. His paternal grandmother was Olive, born about 1783 location unknown, married to Barney Norwood in year unknown but probably by 1803 in either Cortland Cty. or Tioga Cty., NY, died 4 July 1830 in Cortland County, NY. His maternal grandmother was Hannah, born about 1784 location unknown, married Simon Morse about 1803 in NY, died between 1850 & 1855 (Hannah is on the 1850 census with husband Simon Morse living in Harford, Cortland Cty., NY; Simon Morse is on the 1855 NY census in Truxton, Cortland Cty., NY widowed, living with daughter Mary "Polly" Norwood divorced, and grandson Dorus Hatch "William" Norwood). ANY help is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
