On 1 Dec 1684, Benjamin Hatcher was deposed and gave his age as 43. Does anyone know why he was being deposed? Also being deposed at the same time (for the same reason?) were Mihill Garthwait, John Bottom, and Edward Good.

In Oct 1681, Benjamin Hatcher sells land from his father William to John Pleasants. Elizabeth Hatcher signs as wife of Benjamin Hatcher and appoints her brother in law Edward Hatcher "attorney in the deed". John Bottoms, age 19 signs as a witness to this appointment by Elizabeth.
What is the connection of John Bottoms to this family?
