I'm trying to find a James LeRoy Hatfield who I believe was a partner with my great-aunt. I have several clippings saying he was a mentalist and they were touring Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. This was in the 1950's. 4. Elizabeth - age 5 on 1860 census BP Ohio

I'm a descendant of James Hatfield & Annie Rice. Our Hatfield line does not directly descend from the Feuding Hatfields although we do share a common ancestor. "Devil" Anse Hatfield's GGG Grandpa was George Goff Hatfield. George Goff Hatfield was the dad of John Hatfield(father of James Hatfield that married Annie Rice).

That said I believe that would make Devil Anse Hatfield and Nancy Melissa Hatfield Lewis 2nd cousins 2 generations removed. This is not sourced but rather a quick estimation done by me consulting a few sites about the feuding Hatfields and with what info I have seen on John Hatfields line.

I know this has been a long while since you posted but I was wondering if you knew if Nancy Melissa Hatfield Lewis remarried after David Lewis' death? I found a 1910 census entry for Brown Co. TX which has Eliza Jane Lewis Wallace Byrd living with a Nancy Jordon age 94. They are both listed as widowed. Any ideas? My connection is through the Hatfield line. My Comfort Hatfield Pittman was sister of Nancy Melissa Hatfield.

Hatfields from VA to OH to IN and MI early 1800s

Hi -- wondering if anyone has connections to these Hatfields:

Steward Hatfield married Rebecca Fidler in Faquier Co., VA in 1788, and had daughter Jane Hatfield in 1790 VA. Think they also had sons, Jesse, Samuel and possibly William Hatfield in VA between 1800-1810. Steward Hatfield and family are then found in Logan Co., OH -- possibly by 1810, but Steward is definitely found in the 1820 US census there.

Steward, Jesse and Samuel Hatfield seem to be in Hardin Co. (just north of Logan Co.), OH by 1840. Then it appears that the sons move their families to LaPorte Co., IN. Steward b. 1771 -- his son Samuel seems to have a son named Stewart who has a son named Samuel, etc.

Steward's daughter, Jane Hatfield marries John Stephenson around 1810, and their first child William Stephenson is born in Logan Co., OH in 1811. They eventually move their family and 8 children to Cass Co., MI in 1832. A Hatfield then buys land adjacent to John Stephenson's land in 1835.

Hi -- I'll make this brief as I don't know if this is still a valid email for you.
I think your Samuel Hatfield b. 1804 in VA might be a brother to my ancestor, Jane Hatfield b. 1790 in VA whose parents were Steward/Stewart Hatfield and Rebecca Fidler Hatfield (they married in Faquier Co., VA in Sept. 1788). Jane married John Stephenson and they had their 1st child in 1811 in Champaign Co.(now Logan Co.), OH. Jane's parents show up in records in Logan Co., OH by 1820 census. My understanding is that the Hatfields moved to Hardin Co., OH, then on to LaPorte Co., IN, but I can't quite prove all of this. There seems to be other Hatfields from Delaware/Maryland mixed in later in IN and MI. The Stephensons moved from Logan Co. to Cass Co., MI in 1832.

I'm a descendant of Isham and Martha's daughter Mary Ann ("Polly") Hatfield. I don't know where the "Paulina" came from--I think it is one of those mistakes that gets repeated over and over. I haven't done a lot of research on this branch, but this is what has come down in my family:

Isham Hatfield was the son of Henry Lewis Hatfield and Sarah Thomas. He married Martha Ryan Clay 25 July 1833 in Morgan County, MO. She was said to have been the child of Aura Jane Townsend and a Charles Clay, who was supposedly a cousin of Henry Clay (I've never found any evidence to support this). Their children were Aura Jane (b. 29 June 1834), Mary Ann ("Polly" b. 28 Jan 1836, d. 22 July 1922), Sarah Thomas (b. 11 Mar 1838, d. 23 Mar 1911), Nancy (b. 15 Mar 1840), Martha (b. 5 Mar 1842), Henry Lewis (b. 18 Sep 1844, d. 2 Jan 1867), Amanda (b. 24 Aug 1846), and George (1 Mar 1848).

I don't know much about any of the children except Polly, who married James Robertson, and Henry Lewis, who died young and is buried in Vernon Co., MO. I'm happy to share more details about these with anyone who contacts me directly.

Hi, I just was reading your post and was wondering if you knew of Geneva Hatfield in anyway what so ever. I am trying to put a family tree together for myself and my children and the only info I have from my father on his mother is her name and of course who she married which was David Omer Smith. I was trying to find someone that maybe able to tell me when she was born and died etc...My Dad only remembers she died when he was 10 yrs old. His name is Steven Louis Smith and has several brothers and sisters from David and Geneva Smith. Please if you could help I would greatly apperciate it. My dad said something about McCoy's that's what got my attention.

Looking for my ggrandmother's line from West Virginia. I was told her family came from England and later ended up in WVA and was part of the infamous "Hatfield's & McCoy's". She married Roland Armond Hommon on Nov. 19, 1924 in OH. They had 3 children two are still living. Any info on Mary's birthplace, family line etc. would be greatly appreciated! Mary was born Oct.2,1905 and died in the1990's she is buried in the Wilson Cemetary with her husband in Newark, OH.

I found your Owensby Hatfield living in Fentress Co., TN during the 1920 census, age 13. His father was Newell Hatfield, age 56 yrs, born in TN in 1864. His mother was Lou Hatfield, age 46 yrs, born in TN in 1874. Other children were: Mary; Emma; Oma; Lincoln; Milton; Noble; Edna; and Infant Hatfield.

He was born 1905 in either Indiana or Ohio. His wife's name was Chrystal, maiden name unknown. They had three sons; Bryant, James, and Paul. I found a 1930 census of them living in Rush County, Indiana. I found no death certificates of him or his wife. Any help will be appreciated.

My name is Marvel Winston, My father was Paul B. Hatfield, the seventh son of Frank Lockett Hatfield, better known as a youngboy around Owensboro, KY. as "Bigfoot". She was married three times 1st. Elven Wilson they had 9 children 3 died shortly after birth they were taken away from her, when her husband was killed by revenuers. He was making and selling moon shine. They shot him at his front door and died in her arms. Her second husband was Cecial Frank Pergram b. 5 March 1905 d. 6Jan1978 they had 4 children Grover Cleveland Pergram b. 20June1926 d. 20April1963, Ruth Gleneath Pergram B 2Feb1928 d 24June2005
Elmer Clay Pergram b 14May1929 D 15May1929, Silverine Elizabeth Pergram b.3Sept1930 d.6Sept1931. She and Cecial Frank Pergram Divorced she then married Arthur Pelfrey, I don't know if they divorced but he was in the military ran off with another woman. Mary Annie lived with our family till she died.
I was told Her mother Was Lydia Hatfield Johnson was married to William Johnson. Her Brothers were Edd, George, and Greene Johnson I found a record of Greene Johnsons Death Powell Co ky on 3Dec1965. I have very little to go on with dates and family lines. I would really appreciate any information you might have. Thanks for e-mailing me back I've been searching for Lydia awhile now. I have photos of my father grandmother and my aunt Ruth if you'd like a copy I could send you. If you have photos I would love a copy.Or any paper of record like marriage death so forth. Have you tried to order the death certificate? There could be information on that which could help you. For example, the informant is often a son or daughter, then you would have that name. Have you tried the historic or genealogy society in the town where he lived (died)? Was there an obituary in the newspaper? Check newspapers local to the area he died. (You said you know the gravestone). If you aren't local to that area, try the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness website. Their volunteers can be very helpful, and their work is easier when you can supply the dates, which you seem to have. Their website is http://www.raogk.org/ You didn't say when he died, but from his age, he could have living children.

William was born in 1869, d. 1910 (Bourbon Co. KY). Lydia b. 1870 d. 1931 (Powell Co. KY). Married 4/14/1892 in Mt. Sterling, Montgomery Co. KY. Eddie b1892, Green b1894, George b1896, Mary A b1897. Check the 1900 Montgomery Co. census - Spencer town. You will find them all there. Also, KY death records 1852-1953 - Lydia (Liddie) death cert is there.

Looking for info on John H. Hatfield b. 20 June 1892. He is my maternal great-uncle. His WWI Draft Reg. states "married with 1 child. Living in Guttenburg, Iowa. Family said first wife name was Mary and they divorced. Great aunt said he had two children, a boy and girl from first marriage. He remarried a woman named Myrtle. He moved to Vancouver, WA in the 1930's. Very little known about this man or his family, so anything is appreciated! Found gravestone; states birthyear as 1891 and PVT Co B 4 Infantry, WWI.

I am a descendent of Mathias Hatfield c.1660 from Leyden, Holland. Had 2 sons and a daughter. Daughter Eliza Ann died at 5. Sons David and Col. Isaac. Isaac married Ann Hecht. They had another son col. isaac hatfield who married Mary Beuyeux. They had 6 sons including a set of twins. Samuel born 1804 married? Had 3 sons, 2 daughters. This is part of my line. I have more.

I have been told that my family all descended from Andrew Hatfield. I think it was Devil Anse Hatfield's cousin though, not his son. My grat uncle has all the documents. Yes James is used alot. My papaw's name is James. I have noticed alot of James Hatfields in what little reasearch I have done. I don't know about the original hatfield family. The story we have been told is that we go back to germany. Later they moved to england and then america. what does your family say?

I have a John Hatfield b. 1784 married Mary Polly Craig 5-9-1808 Wayne County Kentucky. I only have one son named Emanuel b. 1834. I have as father Joseph Hatfield b. 1740,two wife's Rachel Smith, Elizabeth Vance Smith.

Lydia Hatfield was my gg grandfathers sister(Johnson Hatfield. They were the children of James Hatfield and Mary Ann Ferrell.

I am not sure exactly what or how much you are looking for? I have Lydia (Liddie's) death cert. her son Ed's death cert. her mother Mary Ann Ferrell Hatfields death cert. etc. not alot on her immediate family although I live in Rowan Co. and may be able to look up some more in the surronding counties.
I do have Lydia hatfield as the daughter of James and Mary Ann Ferrell. Also have James as the son of George Hatfield and Nancy Whitt. And George is the son of Ephriam Hatfield and Annie.

DoD Identifies Marine Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two Marines who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

. . . Master Sgt. Jerome D. Hatfield, 36, of Axton, Va., died July 11 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. They were assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
