Hi there all Haughie Seekers.

Well its been awhile since I posted so I thought I would now give the full rundown on my Haughie family. Hope you can follow it all.

My GG Grandparents were born in Ireland married in Scotland had 11 children in Scotland (5 babies died) and immigrated here to New Zealand in 1874 with 6 of there children. To date I have 2 sons missing (James & John Haughie) who I am sure immigrated to the USA.

I have also had a letter from a Robert Haughie stating that his family of Haughie's were from the above places and his family live in and around Hagerstown, USA. Not entirely sure where this is. Must look it up soon :-) He states his grandfather was William Haughie born: 9 December 1907 and died in February 1982. He was married twice by the looks and the 2nd wife's name is listed as Anna Haughie born: 23 Jan 1905 and died: 20 Aug 1988.

He has also listed some siblings as
Forest William Haughie and a Patricia Elizabeth Haughie. Which is amazing as my mother was Elizabeth Patricia Haughie.

Anyway heres what information I have to date.

Joseph & Mary (Begley) Haughey - Original Spelling.
Married Ireland. 2 sons to date. Patrick & James
Lived & Died in Scotland.

James Haughey changed the spelling to Haughie approximately 1855 in Scotland.
His marriage cert states Haughey but his 1st sons Birth Certificate States Haughie as it is today here in New Zealand.

James was born approximately 1830 in Co.Tyrone, Ireland.
James married Bridget Kerr on the 21st May 1854 in Gorbals, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Bridget was born approximately 1834 in Co.Donegal, Ireland.
Father: James Kerr Mother: Cecilia McLachlan. She was one of 5 daughters to date.

Children of James & Bridget Haughie were:

Joseph Haughie. Born: 21st May 1855 at 37 Dale Street, Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. My Great Grandfather.

Cecilia Haughie. Born: 27th Aug 1856 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Mary Haughie/Haughey. Born: 13th Nov 1857 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Died: 1858 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

James Haughie. Born: 25th March 1859 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Bridget Haughie/Haughey. Born: 23 Aug 1860 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Died: 1860 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Francis Haughie/Haughey. Born: 3rd Sept 1861 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Died: 1862 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

John Haughie. Born: 11 March 1863 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Ann Haughie/Haughey: Born: 23 Nov 1864 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Died: 1864 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Annie Haughie: Born: 21st Jan 1866 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Jeremiah Haughie/Haughey: Born: 21st June 1868 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Died: 1868 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Sarah Haughie: Born: 8th Sept 1873 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

So there you have the rundown on the family directly. I also have the names of Patrick the other son of Joseph & Mary Haughey if you would like futher information on them.

The old Irish patterning was used in this family right down to today. That is how I came in to contact with Raymond Kelly whose family is from Patrick Haughey in Scotland.
